Because I'm a science nerd and have too much time, I have started a thread where I think about well known myths. I have 2 that I just thought about and 1 my friend said. 1. Can a Roach Survive a Nuke? No, even if the roaches were resistent to nucualer waste, the explosion would kill them, not to mention everything else. 2. Witch Came First, the Chicken or the Egg? Neither came first, it was a single cell organsim with they evolved from. 3. Can a Chicken Survive After Being Decapitated? Depending on the variables. (Never seen a headless chicken myself) If the brain is in the head, yah, they are dead. Otherwise they die of bloodloss. (Edit later when I figure out where the brain is) |

I scare myself. Bad.

Though a roach would not survive a blast, I think if it was lucky or outside the blast radius it would survive.... |

Yeah, The Myth, Is Whether It Would Survive A Nuclear Holocaust As A Species. The Entire Human Population Would Be Wiped Out By Radioactive Fallout, Which Wouldn't Kill The Roaches, Unless In High Amounts. ie: Blasts Would Cover... Approximately 35% Of The Earth, & Wind & Weather Would Spread The Radioactive Fallout All Over The World, Killing Every Species On Earth, Except Those That Are Most Resistant To Radioactivity. Like Roaches, Fleas, Mice/Rats, & Amoeba. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 2: Yes, That's Technically Correct, But When It First Evolved Into Checked, Through Mutation At Birth, Was It Born Like A Mammal, Or As An Egg? Single Celled Organisms Reproduced Asexually, & The Change Would Have Resulted In Sexual Reproduction. There Is No Actual Answer. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 3: A Chicken Cannot "Survive" After Having It's Head Cut Off. However, If It Happens While The Chicken Is In Motion, It Will Continue To Move For A Few Seconds. The Brain Is Located In It's Head, But When The Brain Sends Out Electromagnetic Messages To The Muscles, It Is Temporarily Stored In It's Spinal Cords. In Other Words: The Chickens Brain Sends Messages To The Muscles Approximately 10 Seconds In Advance. Those Messages Are Stored In It's Spine, The Second Part Of It's Central Nervous System, Where The Messages Remain, For Ten Seconds, After Which The Chicken Would Carry Out It's Final Motions. & You Called Yourself A Nerd. HA! |

You should realy see me. I AM THE BIGGEST SCIENCE NERD IN MY SCHOOL! I know more than my earth science teacher in some parts. I am the most educated of Japan in my school, and I have a large obesion with it. So I am an Otaku.I AM A NERD! Now lets not let us get off topic A roach can only survive more radiation than we can. They are not 100% resistent. Also there is a food chain. The still would die. This would leave us a wasteland and all the earth would do is wait for the sun to expand and insinerate us. - Not like this guy Harvest-

How many cups of sugar does it take to get to the moon?
|
On the contray, most predators of the roach would be wiped out by the nuclear fallout. |

Yes but the prey would die, plant or animal. Plants in Nagasaki still must be: A.) Fake B.) away from nautral soil. If it hunts small animals, they also die from starvation or fallout. |

Hmmm.... touche. I suppose that the roach could be altered by the radiation but probably not enough to be able to create it's own food... |

"Except Those That Are Most Resistant To Radioactivity. Like Roaches, Fleas, Mice/Rats, & Amoeba." Amoeba Would Be ALMOST Completely Wiped Out. But The Remaining Ones Would Feed On Bacteria, Which Can't Actually Die. Mice/Rats Would Adapt & Start To Feed On The Roaches, Which Eat The Fleas, Which Survive Off The Blood Of The Mice/Rats. In Million Of Years, After Everything Has Lost It's Radioactivity, The Amoeba Would Start To Evolve Again, Into Multi-Celled Organisms, & Millions Of Years Later, There Could Be More Cavemen. Of Course, There Is No Actual Answer To Any Of This, Because It's Never Happened/Been Tested. & I Commonly Correct Many Of My Teachers. Math Is My Best Subject.

It just hit me. Radoactive fallout doesn't spread. If it did... we would already be dead. Yes and I do lack in spelling. |

It Does Spread A Certain Distance. ie: Bomb Blast Radius Covers... 1 Mile. Fallout Might Cover 5 Miles. Meaning, 4 Miles Away From The Blast, People Would Be Feeling The Effect Of The Radiation. & When A Russian Nuclear Reactor Exploded In The 70's (I Think), Wind, & Weather, Spread It's Fallout In Uneven Patterns. People In Europe Fell Ill From The Radiation, & Died. If All Of The Nuclear Bombe Were To Be Set Off, 100% Of The Planets Land-Masses Would Be Covered With Radioactivity. (Fallout) Thats Enough Of That.
