Long ago, there was a kingdom that conquered almost the entire world. It used the might of its mages, the power of it Parasite users, and the genius of their inventors to subdue any kingdom that got in their way. Soon this kingdom became an empire, gaining masses of priceless tributes from all over the world. But one day this empire vanished without a tear of sigh, from the world. No one knew what happened; accept this empire and its fabulous riches were gone. But this legend turned into myth, and myth into a story that only lingers on the memories of the old and young. Years pass and not a word seems to be spoken from this legend, years turn to centuries, and centuries into a millennia. The year is now 200X, and this story still clings to life on the memories of the young and old… There is a village far away, but not in a distant land like so many others, probably around central U.S. It was a normal village, nothing very special about it other than the "baby boom" around 18 years ago, when there were a lot of babies born at one time. The kids all grew up together, learned together, and had fun together. Together the kids formed a group where they wander around the village and surrounding land having fun together making new adventures. People tried to stop them, asking who was in charge. But every time the kids would answer "whoever wants to be!" Today Kio is in charge, he's been wanting to be in charge for a while, and it's finally his turn. He has gathered together everyone in the group together, and is about to tell everyone what the adventure today is. He smiles as he looks on at the kids, some are paying great attention, while others could obviously care less. "Today we are going to have the greatest adventure of all time!" Kio shouts, which gets the attention of a few of the sleepers. "Almost every one of us is turning of age, the time when we go out into the world to make a name for ourselves. And as one of the last adventures before this happens, this should be the greatest one of them all! There are tales of Oraz's treasure; a mystical treasure that not only has incredible riches, but also gems that can give Parasites incredible power. Now we should go into the world and find this treasure! Alone not a single explorer has been able to find it, but if we work together then we can do so much more than any single explorer. So let's go and have the time of our lives!" The fabulous Lilim's fabulous notes~ Mmm....pocky. Woah, is this pen going?....... Well this is the great Lilim-sama's notes on magic and stuffs. This is not only to stop my assistants from asking my views on this type of researchy-thingy, but also so that I can finally record all my notes and findings on the subject of magic. To begin with, magic a substance that exists in this world that can be recreated at a user's whim. In older times, like my great-great-great-some more greats- grandfather's time it was considered the fifth element. However, that is incorrect as there are many more than five elements, but magic is still an element never-the-less. It is a substance that exists everywhere, especially in living organisms, but it is invisible to human eyes unless highly trained, then it is possible to detect magic in other mages, having such high magical concentration. But this also raises the question: why most other creatures, like a dog for example, not capable of using magic? The most accepted answer is that magic is too advance for their minds, but there are also theories that there is a gland of some sort, or whatever, in the brain that allows the manipulation of magic. Now, magic is a substance that is influence by the user's thoughts and will. For example, if the user wishes to create fire, then it is possible that the magic will re-form itself so that it combusts, creating fire. There are also dozens of other things that it can do, like how I'm making this quill pen write what I say~ But magic isn't infallible, trying too control too much magic when one's body is too weak, or the will is not strong enough, will cause the magic to either fail or backfire on the user. There are a few common ways magic is performed, but not the only ways it can be. The most common is to use an incantation for the spell. The words and will shape the magic for the user, but I've also seen bards to the same thing with songs, so it is more that the sound helps to define the magic. Runes also work well, they gather the magic and shape it automatically according to what the rune is shaped. However there are limitations to this, runes aren't the fastest type of magic, so it can't be used instantly; also, once the magic is discharged, it takes a while for more magic to charge in the rune. The third most common way is without words, runes, or any other one of those thingies, but instead with just the user's will. This method is hard though, because it takes a lot more concentration than the other methods, usually so it's not so practically in the heat of battle. Also, magic can't be used quite as finely as with the other methods, and backfires generally are a lot more severe. Though it could go on into the dozens of other methods for performing magic, I won't because I haven't quite had time to research them yet, but if I had then you could bet that they would be here~ The last thing I would like to talk about....or write, are the different methods of magic. I will begin with the subclasses of magic, since that's the smallest~ Offensive magic- a type of magic to inflict physical harm on the opponent. These are most common not only due to their simplicity, but can also alter the environment around them, plus can attack multiple people with the same spell. Defensive magic- used to counter offensive magic and curse magic to a degree. The user creates a shield which is used to block an attack. The more corporal the shield, the better it is against offensive magic, though it also becomes weaker to blocking curse magic. Curse magic- used to weaken the opponent in some way or harm it indirectly. Generally used to weaken opponents that are too hard to hit with offensive magic. All elements can be used for curse magic, but dark-esque magic is favored due to its variety of uses. Bless magic- used to heal allies or strengthen them. As said, people usually use it to make their allies stronger in battle, but it can also be used to counter curse magic, much like curse magic can counter bless magic. Light and water magic are most favored for this magic. Well the easy part is done! But the main classes of magic are very wide spread. Some are based on the culture the person grew up in, while others are simply created overnight by people. The ones I, the fabulous Lilim-sama, will state are simply the most common, there are other magical types out there. On a side note, which of these magics is used by the person generally also affects their Parasite in some way, though how it does usually depends on the magic. Bullet proof magic- this is perhaps the most common of all magic learned no matter the school of magic, even people who don’t wish to become mages learn this magic. It basically protects the caster with an invisible shield that stops almost all small, high speed projectiles (like bullets) from hitting the user. This isn’t infallible though, it can only deflect normal bullets, if they have been magically enhanced (but this is hard to do, and requires exceptional knowledge to do) it is possible to rip through this shield. It should also be noted that this shield can only stop bullets, which is why it’s called Bullet proof magic. Chaos magic- also called demonic magic by many people due to the way it affects the Parasite. This magic is best used for offensive, as it is one of the more destructive magics, though using it as a curse magic is not un-heard of, though rare. Order magic- a more passive form of magic, mostly used for defensive and bless magic. This magic is best for countering other magics, as it brings 'order' back to the world. Animal magic- usually used as a bless magic to enchance the speed and strength of the user, for some odd reason it usually also changes the user's appearance, probably as to enchance their magic even more. Bird magic- most commonly used to give the user wings using a combination of bless magic to give the wings, and a weak offesnive wind spell to help give lift to the user. It also consists of various other magic spells used for attacking at a distance, usually from the air. Aether magic- raw magic that is unconverted from it's usual state. This is the hardest and most limited of all magics, because aether magic has a bad tendency to try and get away from other aether magical particles, much like they were two north or two south ends of a magnet. Aether magic is almost always used as a massive energy booster to an ally or explosive. Yin yang- almost all of these spells are light or dark elements. Due to the natural conflicting natures of light and dark, this is a powerful magic. But also due to the conflicting natures of light and dark it is also hard to use it to its full potential. Magma magic- rock and fire magic. These spells usually use earth magic to defend or attack, and fire to boost the attack power of the rock magic. However fire magic is also used individually to attack also. Plant magic- a combination of water, earth, life, and possibly other magics. It causes plants to grows at a highly accelerated rate and also to control them. Well, I've run out of pocky and am getting tired of explaining this, so that's all the magics I will state, but there are many others out there, probably some that have been long lost with the passage of time. This is Lilim-sama, signing out~ Parasites, they are of the demonic species, though very different from all the other ones in this world. Instead of eating humans like most demons, this creature causes the person to use more of their life force at an increased rate, one that makes the person lose, on average, ten years of their life and have their appetite increase to at least twice that of a normal human, but three or four times isn’t unheard of. With the increased use of life force, the person who has bonded with the Parasite gains increased strength and stamina, perfect for close combat or magical combat. The real reason for the name of Parasite though is due to the fusion process, which can be a truly horrific thing. A person will experience a lot of mental strain from the bonding, and is sometimes accompanied by a strange physical pain all around the body. But this is just the norm feeling of bonding; there are some people who say they felt nothing from the bonding, while others say it was actually enjoyable. These experiences are rare and strange, the reason for this is unknown. A common Parasite is usually a three inch ball when it is born, very squishy and sticky. This is the central nucleus of the Parasite, its nose, eye, brain, heart, and everything else that makes things live. Over a time of six months, it will grow to it’s full size of six inches, but if it bonds before the six months it will grow to it’s full size in the of one month. After the first week it is born, it gains a certain instinctual magic which makes it one of the most formidable demonic creatures, it gains the ability to create liquid-like limbs out of magic. At first it can only make tendrils, even when it is six months of age it can’t create a large amount of magical tendrils, the record being approximately the same mass as its nucleus. When the Parasite has reached one year in age, or one month after its bonding, it can then manipulate a lot more of this substance to the point it can be used as a very effective weapon. The liquid-like tendrils are the sole reason that Parasites are not hunted like many other demons. These tendrils are created from magic, so even if they are attacked or hacked off, the Parasite can recover the damage and even re-grow lost limbs, but if the nucleus is attack it is not as easily healed, and may interfere with the process of controlling these tendrils. Most tendrils are a light blue color, and incredibly flexible, the closet thing they resemble is water, the Parasite even seems to be able to control more of it as it ages, or gains strength. But unlike water, the magic tendrils can become quite solid, even potentially as hard as metal. Generally each person who bonds with the Parasite has a different style of attack using the Parasite; some like to make a sword and shield out of it, while others may use it’s flexibility to create tentacles. There are dozens and dozens of different styles for using the Parasite in battle, more styles seemed to be developed every day. When bonded, the Parasite physically attaches itself to the user, this connection can not be simply undone unless another Parasite absorbs the bonded Parasite, or the Parasite and bonded person both wish to become detached from one another. The magical substance the Parasite creates becomes bonded to the person’s skin, while the nucleus seems to be able to freely move through this substance even when bonded, but is capable of physically bonding with the person, temporarily, for an increased amount of control and strength given to the person and tendrils of magic. The amount of surface area that the magical substance, or croman, covers varies from person to person, but generally is not an exceptionally large area, around five diameter is common. There are also two different styles of bonding, each giving a different amount of strength to the person. -----Physical bonding, the Parasite stays attached to the person for its lifetime. This type of bonding allows the croman to still be used in combat very effectively. The bonded person becomes much stronger, faster, and gains much more stamina than a normal person. But the person will still have to train, much like normal people, in order to reach the full potential of their physical strength. -----Spiritual bonding, after a certain amount of time, at least a year, though it is common to hear of a much longer time, the Parasite separates from the person, but stays bonded with him/her. This is more of an alternate path to physical bonding than the last step, what determines if this bonding will happen than physical seems very dependent on the will of the bonded person. The Parasite will take on a rough shape of an animal after 24 hours of separation, and become more defined as time passes. Sometime the Parasite may take on the shape of a dog, or some other creature, it’s also been seen that Parasites have taken on a more amalgamation of different creatures for its final form. This form is able to increase the magical strength of the user and his/her concentration, making the bonded person a much greater mage, but like the physical bonding it requires practice in order to reach their full potential. The Parasite is also able to also go a ways away from the person, and communicate back using telepathy. In its infant states of bonding, the Parasite makes some drastic changes to the host body. The first and most obvious change is that it makes the blood of the bonded person much more acidic, though the body is able to cope with this change thanks to the bond it experiences with the Parasite, making the walls of the bloodstream much more resistant to acid. The person is also shown to be capable of talking with the Parasite telepathically, though the Parasite is able to grown a mouth sometimes and communicate verbally also. The most interesting change though is the fact that one of the eyes of the person will change to silver, or a streak of silver will be permanently died into their hair. Mages and scientists have wondered about this for ages, but have shown no reason why this happens. As stated before, it is possible for Parasites to absorb one another, taking on the strength and intelligence, even sometimes some memories, of the Parasite absorbed. An interesting things is that there are some stones, created with magic and left to ripen for decades, that can also increase a Parasite's abilites. But most of these things are shams that have not ripened well, and don't boost a Parasit'es abilites, if at all. It is a forbidden practice to absorb another Parasites because of the mental stress it causes to the person that lost their Parasite, but thieves and murders seem to enjoy warping their Parasite’s behavior for the power it gives. It is possible for the person who lost the Parasite to bond with another, but a second bonding is too much for the body to handle; they constantly experience a pain from the acid their entire lives. A third bonding will cause the person to die within 24 hours, the bloodstream not able cope with the constant abuse from such highly acidic blood. It should also be noted, bonding with two Parasites simultaneously will cause the same effect as if bonding with a third Parasite individually, and will cause the blood to become incredibly acidic. The personality of a Parasite can change not only with time and experiences like other living creatures, but with the magic the person uses. Usually, the magic will cause the Parasite’s personality to mirror that of the style of magic. For example, Order magic would cause the Parasite to have a strong sense of justice and order, while Chaotic magic may cause it to not want to follow rules so much and do what it wants its own way. Another example is yin yang magic, which may even cause the Parasite to develop a split personality. The way the magic influences its personality varies on the type of magic. Also, if the Parasite constantly eats, or even eats, other Parasites its personality becomes warped and more evil. Not only does it wish to eat other Parasites constantly, but it may even attempt to take over the user’s mind in order to achieve this, though successfully taking over the host’s mind is a rare thing to happen. The birth of Parasites is a very interesting thing, because the Parasites seem to use asexual reproduction, meaning they do not need another Parasite to reproduce, but create a near-identical genetic copy of them self. This copy seems to be near identical to the original, but is born with slight differences that vary among children. It seems also possible for two Parasites to uses each other’s genes to create a child that should be superior to either parent, though it’s a bit uncommon for this to happen. An interesting note is that, with either reproduction, the child seems to have some genetic memory of its predecessors, possibly ranging back from thousands of year to no years at all; it seems to vary among Parasites. When the Parasite wishes to create an offspring, though the details of how it happens will not be disclosed, a small growth seems to appear on the Parasite. Over time this growth becomes larger and larger, usually to no more than three inches. During this time the Parasite will commonly take over its croman and not allow the bonded person such great control over them, using the croman to protect itself and the infant. It also causes the person to experience mood swings, strangely enough. Then, after about six months of raising the infant, the infant will detach from the parent and be expelled from the parent’s system, always in a place the parent feels is safe for the child. The gender of Parasites is also in question, because they seem to behave femininely or manly compared to people, yet there is no physical difference between the two. Rules: -yada, yada, yada -Remember, you’re a kid on an adventure, so you can’t be very strong >.> even with a Parasite -You can be an adult, but if you are I don’t want you to be too much stronger than the kids, I want everyone around the same strength -It is in the year 200X, so there are modern day weapons and stuff, but also magic >.> and demons roam the earth! ~zomg the sign up sheet! Name: Bander Stark Age: 18 Gender: M Magic: Lightning and Fire-based magicks Weapon(s): A Desert Eagle and a switchblade Parasite info: Bader's Parasite looks like a silver birthmark on his left wrist in the shape of a lightning bolt. Sometimes it becomes an individual lifeform, taking the shape of a fox, which can speak English, Spanish, Japanese, French, and Dutch fluently, even though the only language that it has heard so far is English. Bander has no way of summoning Vish, his Parasite, but Vish seems to show up when Bander's in trouble. He seems snooty and very rude to everyone, including Bander, but Vish is one of the most reliable friends you could have. Bio: Bander was abandoned at birth during the baby boom. Vish, his Parasite, was the only person who took care of him, getting him food and defending him from rabid dogs and rats. By the time Bander reached 10, he learned how to take care of himself, stealing from resturaunts and gas stations to keep himself alive. He then found the Desert Eagle in an abandoned house, along with 50 or so bullets, and a pocket knife. When he learned that Vish could help him use fire and lightning-based magic, he started hunting in a forest outside the city with his knife and cooked the food himself. He doesn't consider himself a theif. He sees that what he does as a way of life, because that was the only way to survive. He's still a loyal friend who would only stab you in the back if you asked him to. Appearance:

*Edit Just to let all of you know, I'm going to repost it, most likely under the name of Sadness' Serenade ( ) later. Due to the fact this one seems much too long
though it should still be pretty much the same. If a moderator reads this I would like him/her to lock this, but I'll try to post the edited version sometime in the near future
