Staff is responsible for simulating scenarios that are generally the response to player actions, as well as creating situations which will lead to innovative, creative, and realistic RP arcs and storylines. Events are posted at random, and with few exceptions, do not follow any schedule. Staff shall control the actions of NPC nations. Players should not presume control over NPC actions. Events can be roughly divided into three types; Recurring Events primarily refer to events that address cyclical happenings, the most prominent of which include United Nations Security Council Elections for rotating members, as well as the election of the UN Secretary-General. The annual in-game State of the World Economy post also is included here. Occasionally, the events team may take initiatives including the election of other prominent positions such as the Arab League Secretary-General or European Union President and Commissioner, as well as national elections of important countries which may be unclaimed. International Reaction Events will be threads that showcase a particular in-game action or issue, usually roleplayed by a player in their nation, for international response. These threads will attempt to describe the public information regarding this issue or scenario, it's background, and also some immediate, culminating effects. In these threads, players are welcome and encouraged to post in-character responses to these events in the form of press releases or official statements from national leaders and the leaders of national factions and organizations. they serve as central locations for reacting to important or dynamic changes in world affairs and the global political or security landscape. Arbitration Events are those that deal with certain issues which, for one reason or another, require the arbitration of a neutral body to simulate the outcome of a particular scenario. In broad terms, these could address anything from rulings from prominent international bodies like the WTO or ICJ, the outcome of UN inspections or observer missions to a particular country, or just merely a scenario that is the direct result of a player-action. For nations with a generally functioning election system, such as Britain, staff will also handle the results of those elections. Players should, however, make RP posts in the lead up to the results to aid staff in formulating the end result. |
