,12 May 2009 21.07.58] I'm so glad everyone refuses to consider the issue at hand. Apparently votes don't mean shit if you disregard the result.

You know what? There was a vote on my 'annexation' of Austria last version. It was honored. This was not. That's a double standard. Are you telling me that popular will is only acceptable when it is convenient for it to be?

No. I'm saying quit being so caustic. It's a game run by two guys for your pleasure. They don't have to post polls but they do so anyway. If they want to experiment and see if they like their site to have different bells and whistles or look differently then that is their right as it's owners and propogators. You, on the other hand, are merely being petty and forceful in a situation that requires neither trait. It's just a little ticker at the top of the screen, calm down and try to treat other people as your equals instead of dimwitted sub-humans who must be caustically confronted in every situation because they are somehow unable in your mind to understand your point of view without you doing so.

sorry Phil but you're banned.

That wouldn't be right, would it? Now I realize this isn't the same type of vote, but why put up a vote if you don't plan to give a fuck anyway? It is a dangerous precedent to set. From now on I don't think I'll plan on voting on most pools, considering it won't matter.
Now Presenting:

If you paid attention long enough to actually read my complaint, you'd understand that it's a dangerous precedent to set. When Zactarn (who, if you remember, pretty much flew off the handle at me at the last G8 meeting in the last round, relatively speaking) agrees with me, there's generally something to my complaint. But, obviously, people don't think popular votes should be honored, and they don't think they matter, so whatever. No point in getting indignant about people that don't care when they have no say.

For the record, it's pretty much run by one guy. Who doesn't unilaterally change thing and then flout his polls. In fact, come to think of it, he seems to actually abide by them.

It's the administrators choice, really. No poll would ever be to ban someone - this is a poll to change the news ticker. So what? Your vote wouldn't matter anyway, if you voted for the choice of minority.

Eh. I agree with Crackzilla; I don't really care.

No where does it say that any votes are binding or will determine what is done, gauging the view of the members sounds like a logical thing to do to me. Apparently it was decided that a new ticker which would create a sort of median between the previous two would be created. I'm sure John McCain wishes the polls that put him ahead during the campaign had been real, but lets face it, this was not a binding vote at all and was done to gauge the feelings of the players.

Also, as to your ridiculous but understandable example, I would abide by what the admins say, because ultimately this is their website and I can rp here so long as it pleases them. I would have no problem abiding by their decision, I would be upset by it, but it is THEIR decision to make.

This is being blown way out of proportion; it's just a news ticker.

In my opinion, the big constitutional question of the precedent about polls set here is moot, because we now have totally other options, like the current one of grey and white. If there was truly a majority that were passionate about this issue one way and the admins refused to listen, that would be a problem; the will of the forum is hardly being subverted, however, since the poll no longer applies.
