I am reading Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe again. Anyone who wants to play an African nation should read this book. Anyone who wants to RP with actual feeling as opposed to making one liners about coups should read this ... twice.

That was the most crappiest book I have ever read, Achebe demonizes the very reason he is able to write? Bah, he gives bullshit a bad name.
Posted Image
I watched them strap him into the seat and shut the door. He might of looked a bit nervous about it but that was about all. I really believe that he knew he was going to be in hell in fifteen minutes. I believe that. And I've thought about that a lot. He was not hard to talk to. Called me Sheriff. But I didn't know what to say to him. What do you say to a man that by his own admission he has no soul? Why would you say anything? I've thought about it a good deal.

I believe that there is a inherant irony that the only reason we know European imperialism wasn't perfect, was because it gave him a perfect - critical - education.

Also, the parable that refers to a dog that bites his master's hand - isn't actually designed to warn dogs.

Who wants to write a book?

I'm dead serious. I'd be willing to write a fictional book on here with someone. We could come up with a topic and just take off. I lack the time and the determination to write an entire book myself.

Preach it brother, unrepentent colonialists FTW. Not to mention I found the book rather boring. Everyone should read this book by the Right Honorable Ian Smith:

H is for the home fires the folks are keeping bright

O is for the Officers and Other Ranks as well

D is for the die hards that will even fight in hell

E is for the enemy that just won't ever win

S is for our spirit that won't ever grow dim

I is for the indepence that we have to share

A is for the arms that we will always have to bear

PS: Decolonization needed to happen, but it wasn't done right at all. It would've taken another 100 years to do right.

Well, Ian Smith has unfortunately been misunderstood by most people who don't truly know much about the story of Rhodesia. Most people don't realize he was in favor of "responsible government" not white supremacy. He favored transitioning to majority rule over a slow period of time, so that the uneducated and ill-equipped majority could be educated and brought up to speed so that they would know how to run a country and be responsible leaders. Instead the Brits, Soviets, East Germans, and Swedes, supported communist black nationalists (and yes there were non-communist black nationalists, but they chose to support the communist ones). Thus Robert Mugabe has been in power since 1980 and one the richest and liberal countries in Africa; has become one of the poorest and most oppressive.

I tend to read obscure books about military or espionage related, things. Obscure because the majority of stuff in that field is borderline on fantasy (fictional works are usually - unrealistic).

I was talking with my 5th grade teacher about current affairs (which I do pretty often) and he said Iran would be better if we reinstalled the Shah today. He's your typical conservative Republic, so it didn't surprise me so much, but he's a teacher and is keen to point out his views on this sort of thing in the classroom.

any way it is not directly Conservative I am probably the most radical Liberal you will ever meet (if such a word exists ) and the shah (at least the last one) was a Liberal,Open market, secular leader which still is better to Republicans than a Islamic republic so yeah your right she is Republican.

Kindly explain to them that the Shah caused this Revolution and that Iran had a democratically elected leader we toppled in 1953. His name was Mossadegh, but I presume you are aware of that already.

Why? Well, like Sel said, if you're democratically elected you are just plain better.

I think, politically, an Islamic Republic that is not seeking nuclear weapons is way better for the Republicans than any sort of stable, pro-Western regime. How can you engage in unending wars when there's no one to fight?
