2010 FIFA World Cup Taking an initiative in this case, I have started a small dice-like experiment for the 2010 European Handball Championship among France, Germany, Croatia and Denmark, the leading handball nations of Europe. This will test the viability of the system I have planned for the 2010 FIFA World Cup; First, all nations will be divided according to their FIFA ranking, the top 25 nations divided to groups of 3, 5, 5, 6 and 6. It was almost the only way I could have divided them and makes sense: Spain - 9 Netherlands - 9 Germany - 9 ---- 27 Italy - 7 Brazil - 7 England - 7 Croatia - 7 Argentina - 7 ---- 35 Russia - 4 France - 4 Portugal - 4 Turkey - 4 Paraguay - 4 ---- 20 United States - 2 Czech Republic - 2 Switzerland - 2 Greece - 2 Uruguay - 2 Ukraine - 2 ---- 12 Serbia - 1 Cameroon - 1 Scotland - 1 Bulgaria - 1 Denmark -1 Israel - 1 ---- 5 Now, the champion, runner up, third place et cetera of the 2010 FIFA World Cup will be decided by dice rolling. The points allocated to each country above represent the number (quantity) of numbers it is allocated on the hundred-sided dice, which I will role hundred times. The nations, then, will be allocated their final spots in the 2010 FIFA World Cup by the number of times the hundred-sided dice has showed their number (a 'hit'). The nation with the most hits will be the champion, the second most hits will be a runner up, et cetera. Now, to break ties, I will hold 'relative rolls' series which contains three dice rolls at all, where the number of numbers each country gets is relative to its quantity of points on the 'grand dice' and it's opponents quantity of numbers. For example, if there is a tie between Israel and Ukraine (for example), I will roll the dice three times with two thirds of the dice belonging to Ukraine (let's say 34-100) and one third of the dice belonging to Israel (let's say 1-33), which is the relation of Ukraine's and Israel's points, 2-1. This is going to be spirit of things. The games will be hosted in South Africa, as everyone already knows, I'm sure. I know that possibly nations on the list wouldn't have qualified (nations like Israel and Serbia) and some nations should have been there (Japan, Australia) but, people, I'm trying to stay as impartial as I can and using FIFA rankings is probably the best way to that. Agreed? |

I was never a fan of the whole dice roll system. Clearly Brazil will win it all so it doesnt matter really ![]() But no really, I can lend you some help should you require it. |

Well, I think it's certain that I won't host this... But I highly suggest using a scorinator instead, it works much better. Oh, and why isn't Indonesia included? We're only like, 120th in the FIFA rankings! |

Germany should kill them all, since Toni Kroos will be ready as a super-sub. Adler (or Enke) Beck - Westermen - Mertesacker - Lahm Ballack - Hitzlsperger - Frings - Schweinsteiger Klose - Gomez (Podolski as required) |

Hmm, I think there's some bias here. Tell me how Serbia is ranked highest in Group 7 and is doing better than Croatia, who is 2 in Group 6. Croatia somehow gets 7 and Serbia, 1... I'm not related to the slavs in anyway, so you know, I'm Nicaraguan but I'm curious why Serbia is ranked at the bottom in your list and their doing really good. http://soccernet.espn.go.com/tables?league...dq.uefa&cc=5901 |

Croatia's quite good. Besides, watching Pranji delivering left-footed crosses to Olic, whether with Bayern or Croatia will be fun to watch. Petric is the best striker in Hamburg right now. They've got talent. Enough to do quite well if managed well I think. |

Let's anticipate more football conspiracies like France 0 Senegal 1 @ 2002. Do you think the underground gambling rings will be able to pull something like that off in 2010? |

Croatia is currently ranked 8th in the world, while Serbia is ranked 20th. And Russia is 9th, 33 points behind Croatia. |

In terms of real life, I'm going to Africa for all of next summer. It's gonna be fun as hell to see the first World Cup in Africa. Thanks for reminding me to check up on the qualifiers. Looks like North Korea might qualify...

The list came straight from wikipedia (I mean the rankings, not my division). Also, I didn't plan to RP all of the games, maybe just include a few highlights included in the final (and only) post, in which post I will announce the winner, the runner-up, et cetera. This happens on the very start of the next quarter (11 June - 11 July). |

OK: Results.. PAMMPAMPAMPAM.. And shortly before I make the announcement, I would like to inform everyone of some statistical anomalies, especially in Israel and Denmark (fortunately for them) and to a lesser degree, Spain (bad for them). But all dicings were made impartially by DiceHelp. WINNER - Germany Runnerup - Netherlands 3rd Place - Brazil 4th Place - Croatia 5th Place - Spain 6th Place - France 7th Place - Italy 8th Place - Argentina 9th Place - Paraguay 10th Place - England 11th Place - Portugal 12th Place - Israel 13th Place - Denmark 14th Place - Switzerland 15th Place - Czech Republic 16th Place - Ukraine 17th Place - Turkey 18th Place - Russia 19th Place - Cameroon 20th Place - United States 21th Place - Bulgaria 22th Place - Uruguay -- filled 23th Place - Greece 24th Place - Scotland 25th Place - Serbia PLEASE NOTE: Filled means that those countries never got a 'hit'. So, by default, Greece occupied the higher spot while Scotland and Serbia diced each other to death for the 24th and 25th spots. I would also like to mention the HUGE 4-hits-countries playoffs, with a range of countries from England to Paraguay to Denmark. That is the reason why statistical anomaly rules the 9th to 13th places. NOW, if some might do a nice news post about it, that could be cool (I would say Germany, as the winner, should be obliged to include the results in his winning post). |

Looks fairly realistic. The Italians got 7th - considering how they often flop that's very good. Course, they are reigning champs. |

I guess Schwer still thinks that a 2-1 loss to the USA is a trouncing. Go figure that Germany isn't allowed to lose a match despite him never giving me a tactical plan, a squad list, or even mentioning the whole event in his news thread. For someone who is upset about losing, seems like you never gave a shit, enough to recognize its existence. |

This will not be recognized as THE official 21c World Cup 2010 because I think it would require a scorination. However, you can call it a fun little simulation. ![]() Mostly I'm saying this because the results are quite unrealistic. |

Shu Hada (What's) Scorination? Also, yes, some numbers were diced more often then they should be at times (for example, the numbers 98 and 97 for Denmark and Israel showed up relatively a lot, which shouldn't happen). |
