I think you're off to a good start. You're doing some internal RP, posting news threads, working out the direction you'll take the country. I'd say your next move would be to start talking to other nations in the region. Talk to the other ASEAN nations (ASEAN is a little dead this round, it could use an injection of vigor), too. Go read up on Malaysia's foreign affairs, too. That'll let you know who's important to you, as well as who you've got conflicts with. With the number of folks we've got in Asia, a Spratly Islands dispute could be in order. We've also got a really good Singapore this round, so you can work on the shaky Singapore-Malaysia relations, too.. |

actually if you read my ooc comment in the asian/oceania thread my opinion is that your current actions are too extreme. ![]() It can never happen with reality checks on many levels. Which is why i would prefer that you read up on their bernama newspaper for the past week at least to highlight some national concerns (though i know that they use malay i think) |

Take what you claim about the king for example. The position of the King is that of rotating Sultans for each of the states in Malaysia. Which means that each Sultan will get his turn sitting on the throne. A vote of no confidence doesnt exist since the Monarchy or in this case the Royal Aristocracts are in reality "unbounded by laws". If someone's a Malaysian royalty, he can screw anyone citizen up basically. |

Well, the monary power come from the laws... and laws can always change. Yes the far I understand about Malayria is that they vote one of out of 5 to became a King... If they are monarch and they can basically screw anybody, why does they need votes to gain the position of the power. I been read a little bit about Parliments and it said that they just discovered to use no-confident vote on PM when the King appoint the PM. So it got me think, it is possible for the King to have no vote confident, otherwise do you want him to process with the attacking to Singapore. I know Im not expert with Malayria government but this is peaceful way for PM to do it without coup... |

Although I do not know much on Malaysian politics, I do know that Malaysia absolutely would not attack Singapore. If anyone, it is Indonesia that they would fight (and I'm not just saying that so I can get in a war - i'm serious). Tensions, although lower than in the 60's, has been increaasing rapidly because of Malaysian land-grabs of islands owned by Indonesia. And, something about a Malaysian prince abusing phisically, mentally, and sexually an Indonesian girl (16) which he kidnapped. And no, sorry but your western ideologies rarely work in this part of the world, and trust me when I say that the king will not be deterred by his 'parliament'. You've probably been reading on GB's parliament or something. Oh, and I can read Malay, as it is a modified form of Indonesian (which I am, btw). I can happily help you in getting up to date on stuff, but be warned that I may be biased, as Indoneisan-Malaysian relations aren't that great, with the general population too. And finally, it's Malaysia. Your thinking Malaria, that's a disease mate. |

I watched them strap him into the seat and shut the door. He might of looked a bit nervous about it but that was about all. I really believe that he knew he was going to be in hell in fifteen minutes. I believe that. And I've thought about that a lot. He was not hard to talk to. Called me Sheriff. But I didn't know what to say to him. What do you say to a man that by his own admission he has no soul? Why would you say anything? I've thought about it a good deal. Cormac McCarthy | |

Malaysia and Singapore are still a little edgy. If I was Indonesia or Malaysia I would hit up the Russians for a battery of SS-21 Short Range Ballistic Missiles. Just a few cheaper, short-ranged but accurate ballistic missiles could waste Singapore in a matter of minutes, because the whole city is a financial center, damage to the city will crash Singapore's economy. Although Singapore's citizens are pretty well off in event of attack, CM, don't the new building codes specify that every new building (or is it residence?) must be built with a shelter? That and Singapore's military will waste you in retaliation (thank god your economies aren't so dependent on one small section of land). |

All public housing buildings are build to withstand strikes + bomb shelters are available in many public locations. Which means the people who will likely die from such a strike will be the million or so foreigners who live/work in Singapore since they are the ones without the knowledge of what to do (that includes say 500k Malaysians or so...:P if fracticide is what you want suuuuuuuuuuurrrree. It will be near impossible for Malaysia to get any SRBM without Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore condemning them for disrupting the regional balance and getting defenses/missiles in retaliation. Furthermore, if they are getting SRBMs -ordered-, rest assure that the very next day, USA +Israel will be -delivering- a multi-tier BMD system to our door step. Our ISR of the region is not superb, it's pervasive 24/7, with USA supplying us additional information real time. We have 10 minutes of warning of any Malaysian air strike - the moment their planes leave the runway, we know. 10 minutes will provide us with more than enough time to activate a series anti air measures(CAP, AA, shifting of CAEW). Dont even mention the amount of extra preparatory warning time frame we get should they attempt a naval strike or the worst of all land invasion. We are more prepared to hit Malaysia than they are to do so in return. It's an open secret to say we need less than 24 hours to gather all available combat ready personnel to move into war effort - that is something not many countries can achieve. Even in the event of something happening right now, Singapore's IHawk and Aster 30 will be more than enough to provide a limited but effective shield. The chance of catching Singapore without a counter to SRBMs faded since 2008. And in contradiction to what you think X, Malaysia cant do with us and neither can we do without them. The "strained relations" are nothing but sibiling squabbles at the political level. On the ground, life goes on and the people are together as very good neighbours. Without Singapore, not only Malaysia would but a good chunk of the world's economy and networth will be badly affected. Singapore may not hold alot of physical assests, but we do have alot of intangible assets in our country so it is not in any developed country's interests to watch us fall. If you ask what's Singapore's military capability? Reading this entire thread will give you a good understanding of the region and Singapore. It's mostly true, not all but mostly true. |

I believe there is a defense pact with Australia, or was. But in any event, attacking Singapore would draw in Australia, particularly if the attack was by Indonesia. During Timor we had the F111's fueled and armed ready for the orders to take off and bomb Indonesia it self. I think we also use the oil index in Singapore to base our prices off or something of the sort rather with the price of oil. Actually I'm pretty sure there was(not sure if it is still in effect) a pact between the UK, Australia, Singapore and probably NZ for the defense of Singapore. |

5 Power Defence Arrangement...includes Malaysia and Singapore, and UK, Aus, NZ. It guarantees Aus/NZ help, with assistance from UK to Sing and Malaysia if those two are attacked. Don't worry, I'm trying to calm him down with this whole war thing. Point is...Indonesia you would be wise to attack lolz. The F-111 isn't that bad off. They can still fly. |

The FPDA is in effect alright. We fly planes to malaysia every year for the ex. And by the way, Malaysia' procurement budget's empty until 2011 something due to the 5-year plan thingy. Their military procurement comes once every 5 years...(yeah i know it's great like a long await spring). |

Depends. Because by that time I may have the LHD. Which also means a few F-35s. Overrated or not, they're still useful. Throw that in with some of the new Growlers, and a few other F variants of the F/A-18...he's STILL screwed. He hardly has a handful of air superiority fighters. |

My point. That and, like you said it would be horribly destabilizing. But if you were crazy enough to attack Singapore ... you may as well have SRBMs. Especially since Singapore is basically guaranteed air superiority. |
