Oh the Irony; Should we decelerate the timescale?

This should be odd coming from me, considering I'm a proponent of faster timescales (since I'm usually in countries that need them), but I feel like we might need to slow down because of everyone going away. The irony is that this is the time when you're supposed to be free to do what you want. However, everyone seems to go on long Euro-style vacations (unheardof in my family, in fact I would freak out if a two week vacation was planned, let alone one week).

So please discuss the merits of slowing down to a different scale.

I dont particularly care what is done. A poll will come after a day or two of discussion.

Oh and before Schwer comes in: "This is a stupid unnecessary idea."

(Yes, I'm going to complain about the Dayton Agreement here !)

In my case i'm waiting for 2 players who I haven't really seen online yet, in fact, I think i've seen France online once for a couple of seconds and the UK, well not yet... Now considering I need them to log in to confirm that they'll send a respresentative to discuss some changes to the Dayton Agreement before I can begin to get anywhere is frustrating enough, the fact that I need 5 other nations to agree any constitutional change, in my case something as simple as changing my government layout / positions is even worse !

I think people should be active enough even though it's the summer holidays, theres plenty (and more free) time than any other so why not ?

Personally, I dont see why the active players need to change to suit those who are on holiday...

Chernobl is on vacation, but while he was here he was fairly active. Farrfin's activity leaves something to be desired.

This is a stupid unnecessary idea. Rubbish. Its hard enough to RP the US in the current time. Any faster is madness.

I vote against. If anything, we should go back to thirds. But I'm not really in favor of changing the timescale at all. I think it's fine how it is.

And Farrfin's activity is weird. He used to be fairly active until the last few weeks.

I am against. The current time scale allows a good balance of having stretched out RPing without having to do a ton of RPing to a few days, while it also allows you to do some faster things. It is very good becuase it lets everyone stretch it a little to fit their own needs and we shouldnt change it over this little 'LOL GO TO WARZ' blip that everyone is having.

If really neccessary just extend the quarter in question by another week. The rate of 1 week/quarter is fine.

Yup. My idea. I remember it. I was the greatest compromiser :D I'm still in favor of it too.

I say hellz nah to making time slower.
However, I would suggest a slight enforcement of an other policy. That being, that in a major conflict we slow time down. Err, ALL of the times. Not just let the war be it's own bubble. I mean, maybe extend it to 6 weeks per year, if we're in a major war. Because it's obvious that every war, has a victor...mostly. And even with an armistice or something, players loose valuable time trying to catch up their country.

UNLESS. We make it state policy to allow that said nation to...back RP.

If it's really that a big a problem, my only other suggestion is that we allow for a one week grace period. What I mean, is say a particular player is gone for a time...or he needs extra time that is seen as acceptable. We just give him or her one extra week, to back RP sorta.

I like explaining myself...to seem smart :D
That and so people understand me. :ph43r:

I'd only be cool with a 6 weeks thing till the end of July at best. Mostly since I'm leaving next week. But that's flat selfish.

I'm awares of that possibility. I'm not the most entertaining writer or ooc person. Hell, I think I have a jenks on when I post last in ooc, that usually that thread often ends up...dying right then. No more after me. lol.

But it's all good. Besides I don't really read much of others either. Especially Europe (all two...or three of them) and Middle East.

I don't think the time scale is the problem. It's that people are going for weeks at a time, which leaves their country hanging.

Now, I'm certainly not saying that people shouldn't go on vacations. This is a game, after all, not work. At the same time, it might be a good idea if we had "seconds" who would handle our countries while we were away.

I knew that I'd probably have patchy [at best] activity for the summer, thus why I gave up UK. I say leave the timescale as is. If we need to extend time, let democracy dictate its course.
I'm amused easily by childish things.

I mean your OOC posts are usually overly verbose. It's like you type out your stream of consciousness and then finally what you wanted to say.

I do read your IC posts if I remember to click ABC News. lol

LOL yeah pretty much. That's how I write too.

5 paragraphs and 6 pages later...

But what you said is about what I do. I just think of something...and start going with the flow. Then I relapse again and say..."Shit, I need to close this essay out." :D

I didn't think the current timescale would work when I first started, but after having played for a while, I think it's fine.
I think once some of the key nations become really active, things will balance out.
