Sel and I have agreed to provide switch amnesty to anyone (well, almost anyone) looking to switch from a less important nation to a more important nation. There are a few nations which are of somewhat importance to either the global climate or to their regions that we'd like to have filled. Thus, we are offering a one-time switch amnesty to people who would like to take over these roles. The following nations are up for grabs: Iraq Turkey Egypt If you would like to switch to one of these countries, state your interest here. Sel and I will have to both approve the switch. Approvals will be granted based on current country's importance and RPing skill level, generally, though we may have other reasons, which we will state here. |

Oh, players who currently are barred from switching because they have either switched too often or some other reason are also offered this one-time amnesty. |

My plans include: Exploit Oil: Venezuela is a great source of oil and as you see with Norway, they can fund 2b into a shithole called Mauritania with their oil funds, maybe I could find a better use for mine. ![]() Military Build Up: Venezuela is surrounded by hostile pro-US puppets, I'll militarize the country. Funding Cuba: Ever since the end of the USSR Cuba has went down, Hugo Chavez helping his buddy Raul anyone? Spreading Venezuelan interests: They recently funded Bolivian insurgents (2008/2009?). Perhaps I should do some of that stuff in 2011. Getting better friends with Russia: Really, Russia is my only super-power friend in this world, we need to be tight. |

Ehh, if allowed I could switch to Egypt. Plans: Have a major terrorist attack, kills a bunch, causes....DUN DUN DUN....Nationalization!!! Then recruits for the military pour in and they crack down on a terrorist organization that was planning more attacks. Interact with Sudan, condemn the Darfur issue, hold meetings with al-Bashir to try and convince him to follow the path of peace. Interact with Israel, still be anti-Israel but reform a tiny tiny tiny bit on them. Secretly support Hamas and Palestinian Authority (once Lyly comes back). As I do more research on Egypt I can supply you with more of what I'd like to do. If a switch is denied, understandable, and don't worry, if I do switch, I won't fuc up Egypt like I did with Mauritania

Haha. Now of course, because I am the switcher of 21c legend, or was, any other time I'd jump at the oppurtunity.. I'm not saying I wouldn't but, I've only just been allowed back as another nation, which i'm fairly happy with.. I guess if you were desperate and needed me I'd consider. I've got the Dayton Agreement ongoing (which hasn't been responded to recently but is nearly finished) and elections soon (I guess), I'm not sure how active my neighbours are but... I know who the Turkey player was, Turkey interests me the most, but I don't know whether it'd be worth switching from Bosnia and Herzegovina, to Turkey. Egypt would be interesting too.. but like I say.. I don't know whether it's any more important, or much better than Bosnia and Herzegovina. Whatever the case, active neighbours are important. I must say that I haven't seen 21c as quiet as this before. |

Right.. I am completely bored, talking to about 6 strangers on msn, and have nothing better to do.. so here goes... What a surprise I replied.. Egypt - Rediscover the importance of the nation of Egypt, like the glory days those thousands of years ago. Sudan and Israel are obviously something to consider. As for Sudan, I'd support whatever the West wanted me to support. To be honest, I could see some negotiation with Israel, I'd remain neutral on the issue of Palestine and Gaza until need be. Considering there is so much desert, something UAE style, as I tend to call it would be a possibility, though, the idea of being Conservative seems most likely. A push by a minority for an Islamic Republic would also be great to RP and would see things hot up in the middle east, especially with neighbouring Israel, however, there is the other option of becoming more af a NATO ally and taking the peaceful route to prosperity. Turkey - Again, interesting. In an wakward region.. Europe-Russia-Middle East. More connected to the West and Europe than Egypt, so probably less rogue possibilities. Again, in an Islamic nation there are those who would like an Islamic Republic, and this could provide some good internal RPing but is also one of the ideas for Egypt. Cyprus, Cyprus, Cyprus. Continue to claim Northern Cyprus and offer negotiations, which proably would make relations even worse.. possible war maybe, though, not an a huge scale as Cyprus would not be a major concern, it would be interesting to test Greece on how far it would be willing to go. If Russia marched back into Georgia, or another former Soviet state in the region, Azerbaijan or Armenia, where around 50,000 Turks live, troops could be mobilised ready to defend itself from what it considers to be a threat to Turkey's sovereignty. Anyway, thats getting too far ahead.. I can also be on here a lot because it's the summer holidays, so I can be online all day if need be lol. |

I know we have an amnesty, but it pisses me off no end when players rejoin or take a new nation and then cry about wanting to swap. As far as I am concerned, if you take a nation, you should have learned about it and have the motivation to RP it. If you didn’t do neither then hard luck. If the person then quits and tries to come back for a week they should be told, they can wait two months and reapply. Nothing is more fucking irritating then having a player coming in promising the earth and doing about 1-6 posts and then moaning about changing nations. A new player for a nation like Egypt can do much to galvanize a region, but when this player fucks off after a week then it creates more problems then just leaving the nation NPCed. Seriously Dax and Sel, you should think about this. We all want new players to come here and thrive, but it’s about time some of our more established players put up or shut up on this issue. Switching is in rare cases a necessary evil, but only with a few examples such as, a top quality player picking a small nation because of OOC time factors but then finding he has more time, or vice versa, or indeed a person picking a nation in the mind of having a specific long term RP with another player and the other player leaving. Otherwise, I have little sympathy at all. . No personal attacks. |

This is kind of the attitude is a prelude to switching. People should have some feelings about their nation and have some plans before being 'assigned' like Tomi says. You should develop feelings and a good knowledge of that nation before claiming. |

No, that would really limit the possibilities. Like when I first came here, I sucked ASS but now I am a good RPer and really active, you just cant anticipate some things like that. I just think people need to come here with a desire to play a nation or a few nations and not just be like 'Give me a country and I will make a quality RP' becuase if you have no specific desire to do anything, it is hard to come up with something |

Haha. I knew if this would happen. I'd take the bait and cause a huge debate and controversy. I totally agree with Amzi. If this is my chance, however big or small it is to be either Egypt or Turkey I want to take it. Consider it acceptance of an offer, it's up to you and Sel whether you allow me... I hate to put it as a "request", but if it's okay for me to do this, I guess thats what it is. If you dont accept, I wont go around complaining or quitting, not this time. |

Okay, I have been talking to my step-dad about Egypt and he is a very well educated man, so he gave me a few ideas, that are much better than the ones I posted before, so hopefully this will help convince you I'm right for Egypt. And I promise no major conflict or anything to destroy Egypt. 1st Idea: So when I was doing basic research on Egypt I found out that the President Hosni Mubarak has won every election since the mid 80's, and he has received tons of protest about "rigging" the elections, which clearly he has. So my step-dad informed me about the Muslim Brotherhood, and how they originated in Egypt, so they have a very prominent influence. I also found out that the progressive Moslem's are growing ever so tired of Prez Hosni. So his idea was that I hold a meeting between the Muslim Brotherhood and the Progressives, to try and improve their relations, and in the meeting one side brings up the prez, and the two find out they have such similar views on him. And then they start making friends in the departments of Egypt, and also with the officials who count the votes, who are obviously being payed by the prez to miscount them. While making friends the Muslim Brotherhood shows why what the officials is bad, and can lead them down a very pricey path if caught. Then the prez starts feeling uneasy about the protests that have been happening, so he calls for emergency elections to try and make the people feel better. He contacts the officials and they say they'll "miscount" the ballots, but they really don't. So the opposition wins and the old prez is confused, but you see he can't come out saying "hey you all didn't rig the elections!" so he's in a dilemma. So it's sort of a "coup" of sorts, but not at all like the ones that have happened on this site before. If you want, I'll give my other ideas. |
