Any, really. I'm mostly looking for something that would include Mystery, Dark Humor, Quirky Action with Wit, and I don't know.. Anything, really. I just want to start reading again is all. |

Well, besides obvious big name ones. Though, good suggestion - I still have yet to read that, sadly. -It's already on my list- There we go, that's what I'm trying to accomplish. A list of "Must Reads as Suggested". :] |

Well, don't get me wrong - I love Sci Fi, Historical/Alt Historical, and so forth. I was just sort of being silly with my response, perhaps. But no, hell - List your favorite books, even, or ones you'd suggest to anyone you'd think has the same tastes/style as yourself. I'm a very well rounded individual with genres.. Hell, I've enjoyed a few girly books in the past.. :P.. So anything any of you have liked before, I suppose. :3 |

George R. R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire series. Steven Pressfield has some interesting historical fiction, too. Lost Victories by Erich von Manstein is a great take on the eastern theater of WWII. |

I'm surprised I've never given the Dark Tower series any thought before. I've heard a lot about it from some family members who are obsessed with him, though.. I like these suggestions so far, thanks. :] |

Hubris, you have to promise me you will read this book: Lone Survivor by Marcus Lutrell. It is written by a Navy SEAL abou this experience in Afghanistan during Operation Red Wing which was the largest loss of life in SEAL history and how he got through it. It also heavily goes through the hellish training they go through. It wont let you down, please read it. If that doesnt do it for you. 'Kite Runner' and 'A Thousand Splendid Suns' both by Khaled Hosseini are both amazing books. |

Lol me too. It was brilliantly played. Red Rabbit was my old name I'm in preference to reading about the people who did something...recently. Specifically, I've been reading an autobiography "My year in Iraq." It's by L. Paul Bremer III, the first "ambassador" if you will to the new Iraq. He was responsible more as a governor while we worked on the CPA over there. He oversaw some of the stuff that was done. Which, is kind of fascinating, but bluntly his writing leaves something to be desired. And problems seem to be magically solved in about a paragraph or page or so. Other ones include John Aschcroft's "Never Again." Gen. George S. Patton's "War as I knew it." Tom Clancy's "Battle Ready" which is the memoir of Marine General Tony Zinni, who commanded CENTCOM up through about...2003 I think? Just before the invasion, and I think even the WOT Afghanistan. "The Age of Sacred Terror" which basically chronicles the rise of terrorism from the point of two former top intelligence guys (Steven Simon and Daniel Benjamin) who advised Clinton and started to advise Bush. For ideas maybe, "New Glory" by Ralph Peters. Or "What's the matter with Kansas" which I guess talks about how the Republicans got powerful up till 2006, not read this one yet though. Or if your just looking for something really out there, probably the Harry Potter series lol. |

Anything by John Irving is guaranteed to be an amazing and enthralling read. Most people are familiar with The Cider House Rules, but my favorites are The World According to Garp, Until I Find You, and A Prayer for Owen Meany. The guy really is one of the greatest authors of our time. |
