In my city of Oshkosh Wisconsin, every year we have the largest air show in the world, EAA. Our tiny airport is the busiest airport in the world for 1 week becuase of this, and EAA is going on now.

Literally just now, the Airbus A380, the largest passenger aircraft, flew over my house at around 2,500 ft. It was freakin awesome.

The airshow focuses on war birds and experimental aircraft so I see lot of weird crazy shit, but they also have everything here too, like today, F-18s and 16s have ben making runs over my house and the White Knight for Virgin Atlantic (Used to launch Spacecraft 1) is flying around too.

F-15
F-16
F-18
B-52 (tarmac, went inside bomb bay doors)
C-5 (went inside on tarmac)

We don't get those. However, we get some cool naval sightings in Rhode Island occasionally.

The best I've ever seen are convoys of military helicopters flying important people to or from D.C. or nearby military bases. Whether or not I've seen Marine One I don't know, although I wouldn't be too surprised.

Though I I saw some kind of military jet (or a UFO :o)outside the window of a plane I was on yet, in the distance. Couldn't tell what it was.

And on a cruise to Bermuda and the Bahamas some fighter aircraft flew right beside our ship, pretty close to the water. But I was inside at the time.

*Sigh*

Destroyers drop anchor at Wilmington every now again, too. Port's too small for a full-blown carrier, unfortunately.

I've been in the same building as George W. Bush, like he was there ... and I was there ...

and it wasn't a government building.

As was I, except not at the same time. The building is frequently used for political events and Obama might end up going there one time, although it would probably be some expensive fundraiser due to space limitations and the fact that it would tie up the entire region with traffic. :D

Oh I forgot to mention the time when this obnoxiously loud noise occurred over my high school. Supposedly it was Air Force One being escorted. I dont remember there being a loud noise though...

Man, you are quite lucky, Amzi! Oshkosh is the Mecca for unusual aircraft.

Before my youngest daughter was born, I entertained desires to build my own airplane. Unfortunately, daughter #2 led to a serious decline in my time, so I had to sell it. I had nearly gotten it to the point where I could sit in the fuselage and make the obligatory "Zoom! Zoom!" noises, though.

Needless to say, Oshkosh was de rigeur in the homebuilt aircraft crowd. Never made it out there, but I went to Arlington (which is not nearly so big, but still pretty cool) a few times.

You all should come up to Oshkosh sometime, it is certainly worth your time.

We have an air base here in Ogden. It has F-16s, F-22s, A-10s, some type of British training squadron in, C-130s, some military helicopters, and missiles in plain view of the public.

I know ay, there's something about aircraft that grabs my attention.
Every time I drive by the airport, I accidently swerve into other lanes because I get distracted.

The best we have here is an airforce base where the Australian P3 Orions are based, and if you drive a few hours or more into the outback at Woomera you might see experimental UAV's, rockets of various kinds, and RAAF FA18 test aircraft flying around.

Occasionally we get a Herc, Tiger or FA18 land at the International airport.

Oh the best is when the touring car race is on, a couple FA18's do fly overs right over pit straight.
I was on the top of the pit facility building in the corporate area one year, two FA18's fly right over my head, I pop a woody. I lost the woody when an Orion came across the other way and scared the shit out of me because it was lower..and larger.

I live less than an hour away from the Air Force's primary training facility and base for the C-17s. I've seen the C-5 Galaxy there before too. They put on airshows once in awhile. I've seen the Air Force's Thunderbirds F-16 stunt team. Those fuckers can fly.
I've seen the Nighthawk, a B-1 bomber, B-52, Pave Low, Pave Hawk, F-22, and some others.

It's kinda cool living near like four different bases. The one here in town is the artillery training center for the Army and I guess the Marines too. Chinooks and Blackhawks are common sight now that they've brought that training back.

I always have Apaches, Chinooks, C-17, F-Something and the propeller cargo one (Drawing a blank) fly over my house all the time.
I will prepare and some day my chance will come.

Helicopters buzz us all the time, as we are in the flight path of two air bases and a barracks.

EAA UPDATE:

Today, I was under the A380 and it was massive. I didnt go inside of it because the wait was like 2 hours, but it was prety sweet to see the massive turbines. The back wings at the very end of the plane are pretty much the same size as the C-130's main wings. I wish I could have taken some pictures for you guys, but I didnt have a camera. If we go tommorow I will make sure to take some.

Also, we had F-5s and F-18s doing fly overs the entire day. I saw alot of old MiG-21s and whatnot, A-4s as well as they had 'Glacier Girl' there, ehich is the P-38 they got out of that glacier. A lot of P-40s (Also, the second to last P-40 ever manufactured), Hellcats, Mustangs etc. Also, we are getting a Zero and an Me109 this year which is exciting.

The 'Only operational Lancaster in N. Amercia' was there also, very crude aircraft- millions of rivets in those old bombers. The B-17 did fly overs and the 'White Knight' was still there. Lots of strange aircraft like this one plane called the Grizzly which was designed by Rutan (I cant remember the official designation) but it had two massive wings that ran the entire length of the plane and it was an 'Extreme STOL'. The guy said it just 'Hopped off the ground'

No one has died yet which is a pleasant surprise, we usually have 3-5 deaths a year. Of course those massive Texan formations with like 50 planes are always flying around.

It is a great time and I urge everyone to come sometime in their life. It is most certainly worth it if you like planes and crazy ass experimental aircraft.
