Another China player?; Hmm...

What does the 21c community think about dual-playing China with me as the "overlord" and another person as an "underling"? I thought about splitting China after thinking about how the 21c USA was run this round, and perhaps it could work if communication was extremely smooth. Of course, this is simply a thought, and if I would be paired up with, say, Cloud Strife, I would be mightily pissed.

Stok I have no idea what you know about the way the dual player policy works however it’s a equal partnership. If one player is more important then the other it doesn’t work.

Il Duce, shooting change and hopes out of the sky like it's open season on Obama supporters.

I personally like Stok, and would play 'underling' with him on the Chinese issues, yet sadly enough... France needs to live out its glory days :P and that's just not going to happen if some other fellah was on the reigns of power who wanted 'peace,' 'prosperity,' 'democracy,' and that sort of nonsense.

But hope this works out, seems like a great way to organize our large countries.

I watched them strap him into the seat and shut the door. He might of looked a bit nervous about it but that was about all. I really believe that he knew he was going to be in hell in fifteen minutes. I believe that. And I've thought about that a lot. He was not hard to talk to. Called me Sheriff. But I didn't know what to say to him. What do you say to a man that by his own admission he has no soul? Why would you say anything? I've thought about it a good deal.

If you are not Friends, then don't even try. You need to trust the other player and be able to talk policy and shit out. Rping alone is one thing, however when you have a partner you are not "The decider" you have to lobby and argue your points.

I think what Dax is saying is. He won't approve anyone joining as Co-China if they are leaving another nation inactive. Thus you would leave Argentina inactive…

why is the underling idea bad? if anything it would work as a sort of effective big brother mentor program thingy. the underling would just report every policy idea he has to the overlord, and as long as the overlord isn't anal, the underling should have enough room to move around.

It's not a bad thing as far as mentoring goes. For a permanent relationship, on the other hand, I think it would get stifling pretty quick.

isnt that how real governments work though? tension between superiors and subordinates leads to policy swings?

perhaps an influence setup is in order to pressure stronger players to satisfy domestic demands else suffer the wrath of their constituents?

What? Lets be clear, I am not Dmitri Medvevev in real life, nor am I am Harriet Harman. We are mainly young people here, who want to improve our skills and make friends. Who wants to RP the loser? I mean that’s who we are, or at least I am lol. I want a change. Having an “under” and a “Lord” has a problem, of OOC strain. There needs to be respect between players.

I get having an internal disruption RP but once you get used to treating the other person less then its trouble. If indeed a mentor system did come into effect with this system, you need to have the kind of mentor, which is patience and can help the other player not clampdown hard.

recon i guess we're talking about two different things there. a mentor program could start off the senior-junior partnership. after its gone on long enough and reviewed the junior partner could be granted a degree of autonomy. this would require both partners to coordinate in order to advance a unified national interest. otherwise civil unrest and conflict would ensue.

ideally the senior partner's goal would be to pass on the torch to the junior partner as a sort of protege. unexpected turns can always happen though. :-)

Hombre has an interesting idea. I mean, the general policy is that a new guy can PM a senior buddy if necessary, or is pointed to specific guys. But doing this upon occaision could help improve some players if they seek it. However, we can't be doing this with just any nation. Primarily, it would require that the tutor, would of course want to do it. And that it be a reasonable enough nation that wouldn't need constant RPing to fix its problems. Unless the tutor is aiming to keep his nation in the shits.

I actually was thinking more or less along the lines of the senior-junior partnership idea for the "overlord and underling" idea, though it would be equal slices of pie for equal responsibilities. I don't consider myself to be extremely harsh except when I'm dealing with people I don't like; eg, multiiers, assholes, capitalists, etc. It was simply a thought.

evo morales would be interested in chinese support for economic development though. an alternative to u.s. free trade influence would be greatly helpful as we continue to support the independence of mercosur from westerners.

I'd be willing to do it.

However, I'd like to wait until Amzi returns. I could wrap up Pakistan for the next player by making some huge explanation. That would make Pakistan good for a promising new player because they don't have to learn about the game so much - clean slate, eh? I think that might be interesting. It'd give some talented new player an easier way into the game?

What do the Adminskiis think?

I wouldn't be okay with it because it would be tying up two talented players into one nation. That's not cool to me. Unless Stok leaves altogether (which, concluding by how much he's posted in the last month, he already has.)

Me? Talented? Dear god, Dax your standards have fallen!

Stok's already fairly inactive, and I every once and every little while disappear when I'm busy IRL.

If the two of us were both in China it would at least be a last hurrah attempt to get China somewhere, by god one of us at least must surely be active at one time or another.

My five days out of seven days classes began, but will end shortly, thus freeing up more time. Worry not, this is simply an increase in workload and a decrease in stuff elsewhere. Since 21c requires me to actually think unlike E:SR where I can say "GLORIOUS COMMUNIST AMERICA SAYS LOL" it takes longer for me to do anything here.
