Sarawak State Camp 2007 Date: 19th ~ 22nd August 2007 Venue: Sekolah Menengah Sains Kuching, Jalan Batu Kawa-Matang, 93300 Kuching Camp Theme Outdoors Adventure through Camping and Expedition. Camp Objectives a. BB Sarawak Members & Officers would be able to experience and gain knowledge and skills related to Camping and / or Expedition in a carefully coordinated and controlled environment. b. BB Sarawak Members would be able to gain either Basic Camping or Basic Expedition or Advance Expedition Awards by the end of the programme. c. To provide exposure and On-The-Job training for BB Sarawak Officers in conducting Camping / Expedition courses. Who can attend? This Camp will only admit Boys who fulfill the general conditions listed: i. Camper must be 14 years of age by 18 August 2007. ii. Camper must have gained the Target Award. iii. Camper should have been a BB member for a year. iv. Camper MUST SIGN-UP & ATTEND ONE of three courses offered at the camp: 1. Basic Camping Award 2. Basic Expedition Award 3. Advance Expedition Award Registration by 11:59pm on 15 July – RM90.00. Registration from 00:00am on16 July to 11:59pm on 31 July 2007 – RM120.00 *** Registration form can be downloaded at the bottom of this post. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- COPIES FOR EACH PARTICIPANT What must each Boy & Company prepare before the camp? As this is a practical training camp, the organizing committee has decided that Campers must bring along with them the following in order to make their experience as authentic as possible: • Individual Preparation o Sleeping bag (or hammock) o Backpack o Towel o Enough shirts and shorts/trousers o Underwear(s) o Socks o Walking /Hiking shoes o Slippers o Hat o Toiletries (soap, shampoo,etc.) o Poncho or rain coat o Mess tin o Mug (preferably metal) o Fork & Spoon or multi-tool o Insect repellent o Simple aid kit (plasters, Panadol, tweezers, etc) o Pen / Pencil & note book. o NO JUNK FOOD IS ALLOWED. • Company Preparation Each company must prepare their Boys with the following items / skill: • Knot tying (per BB Handbook requirements). • Basic knowledge of fire starting. • Road Safety knowledge • Basic first aid skills. • Cooking Utensils for each group of 3-4 Boys. o Frying pan or wok (preferably with cover) o Small pot for cooking rice (for 4) o Small pot for cooking vegetables/soup o Other kitchen utensils for frying, stirring,etc. BOYS: 1. Collect the PARENT/GUARDIAN-CAPTAIN Consent Letter from your Company Captain or Officer In Charge. 2. Please FILL and SUBMIT the letter to your Company before 15 July 2007. so.... anyone going?? ***UPDATE!! Minimum age limit LOWERED to 13 YEARS OLD!!*** ***UPDATE!! how much distance do we need to cover for expedition basic? climbing mountain? or just walking a distance of road? with no expedition badge, can straight away qualify for advance? anyway i'm going for expedition basic(advance if possible) |

according 2 bb hand book... to qualifield 4 expedition badge must hv ~camping badge ~first aid badge right? check ur handbook |

but now not necessary i think coz a lot of d companies got their expedition b4 camping badge lyk 1st kch. replyin alvin,i heard fr d 1st kch, dey were led by scouts u noe...i was shocked...haha...d scouts were 'ang mo lan' larh...den dey cover bt 35++ km wit a backpack wit dem...i think d backpack is abt 10kg...haha...cool lerh~~if dis is tru larh... |

as a reminder ya.... make sure u pass ur camping badge, or first aid badge(mayb) den u can pass ur expedition... ifwithout camping badge, u pass expedition.. oso no use.. no badge wil b given... according to lt Desmond.. |
