Translate myself:

One day, a young man buy a present in a shop, the original cost of the present is Rm18, and the price tags is Rm21. The young man paid Rm100 to the shopkeeper. Due to shortage of (small) money, the shopkeeper change the money with his neighbour, and then return back Rm79 to the young man. But later, his neighbour found out that the Rm100 just now is a fake note and request the shopkeeper to return real Rm100 to him, and the shopkeeper did so. The question now is , how much the shopkeeper has lost in the trading ?

He lost RM100 the money that he had to pay back to his neighbour, RM79 the real money that he paid back to the cheater buyer, RM18 for the cost of the present. So total amount he lost = RM100 + RM79 + RM 18 = RM 197

Correct ma?

Lol~ Interesting!

Okay, before he realized he was cheated:

He sold his good (RM 18) for RM 21.

He earned RM 3.

After he realized he was cheated:

He had to pay RM 100 to his neighbour.

He paid the young man RM 79.

He gave the item which is RM 21 away.

So he lost RM 200.

Added up together, He earned RM 3 - RM 200 = - RM 197

Therefore, he lost RM 197 in his business.

see.. same la.. rm197.. i just assume that he didnt earn at all cause he received fake money so just counted he lost the item which cost rm18 + give real money change back to that cheater rm79 + rm100 he had to change back to his neighbour. So total up will be RM197...

tell the answer now la..

I still stick on with my answer, RM 97

He didn't lost RM 100 to his neighbour...

Why does he lost RM 100 to his neighbour?
He did take RM 100 from his neighbour and then later he returned to him. So, no gain nor lost between him and his neighbour. :kakaka:

Let's go to the relationship between the customer and the shopkeeper.
The guy paid him fake RM 21. Since it's fake, we assume it as "didn't pay".

Therefore, the shopkeeper "gave" the guy the present worth RM 18.
In addition, he also gave him RM 79 as "change".

The conclusion is RM 97, which is also only 49.71% university students answering it correctly :bluekk:
