[ SERIOUS ] BB = Torture?

So recruitment is over... and one thing i learn is that...

The general mindset of the non-BB members to BB itself is that

BB memang torture..

I dunno where they get this from but it's actually the general opinion. They say what.. come late kena 50 push up, stuff like that. until make the recruit all scared.

So, i ask you guys, any tips to help change this mindset? Because i think it's rly effecting our recruitment. During my batch no such prob. Only this year baru i hear of it. ::omg::

Well...

First of all, BB follows military discipline, but if you didn't do something wrong, why would you get 'tortured'?

Next, members won't get punished a second time unless they didn't learn from their mistakes. The BB doesn't give push-ups for no reason. Show me an NCO or Officer that does, and I'll show you someone who's about to get kicked out.

Stories about extreme punishment are just that -- extreme stories, i.e., they're not the normal stuff that happens. It's fun to trade extreme stories over the campfire, but the ones that come out are the extreme ones. :D Who wants to discuss how you spent the day studying for an award unless it was a fun award like camping?

DO you guys practice giving out 50 push ups to recruits for being late? More like 5-10, I'd think. Besides, only NCOs and older Boys get the more push ups, mostly because they should be setting a good example in the first place. Plus they're more fit. :)

When I was your age, my pals and I were showing off how many push-ups we can do. :D All the 'punishment'? An excuse to show off and get fit. Plus my shoulders became broader by about 30% I was a chubby, weak nerd before I started doing push ups. I'm still a nerd -- well, more like geek these days, but apart from my glasses, who can tell? :D

To make your recruitment easier in the future, spread information, because what you are facing is DIS-information. And be proud of the discipline you have in your Company -- it is a GOOD thing.

At the end of the day, push ups are nothing to be ashamed of. You are all there to learn to be better than you are, to be heroes and legends for the next batch, and to learn that nothing can touch your inner person unless you allow it.

Any tips on how should i go about getting rid of all this dis-information? According to some of the recruits, it's the more senior ppl (from other groups) that are spreading these stories... don't get me wrong i'm not pointing fingers.

Let them know what you're doing and let them feel how u feel in BB. I would say it's the impression we gave them. If they can't accept discipline and obedience that we practiced, we can't actually force them to. We can give them fun if they want, but we practice more of Love with Discipline instead of Discipline with Love. Don't get mix up with that. Publicity is important, I noticed GRSS notice board is quite interesting but needs more updates.

James and some privates are doing a good job taking photos during activities, keep it up and post more pictures on the notice board instead of facebook, =.=" and put creative stuff that makes people stop to look at it, caption is good.

I remember i used to stay after school quite often to 'renovate' the notice board just outside my class. It's a pleasing view when people stop to look at it and start to know BB in a more interesting way. It's quite effective in a long term impression to others. However, these are just the 'old-folks-method'.

As i said, it's the impression and how BB members act towards non BB members. But never forget who we are and what we do. We are a Christian organization and we have a certain role as individual and a body. Show them how discipline works, but in an interesting way. =)

I know some of these may be confusing, it's hard for me to let others understand what we do too sometimes. You can figure it out yourselves in more innovative methods too. 'We' old folks, had our time, and it's your time to make things happen now. haha.. Ask yourselves what do these people do? how to feed them information? how to show them how you feel in BB? these need survey and stuff..

Do ask more or post topics here, the 'old folks' don't mind reading, and reply. it's good to hear from you. We also need to hear more from you guys too. =D

hehex.... there were a lot of students said that BB is too in discipline... But this year, we try to get more recruits. but a lot of them were not active on KK, most of them are having their tuition classes on Saturday too. So mostly, i just get around like 4-6 recruits.
