As many of you probably know, Microsoft has a website called Club Live Games, at which you can play games, earn points, and receive prizes. Well, a long time ago I accumulated about 12k points, and I finally see a prize that interests me: Forza Motorsport 2 (X360). However, before I chose my prize, I wanted to see if anyone here has played Forza 2, and if so, what do you think of it? Should I get it? Rent it instead? Wait for Microsoft to offer different games as prizes (could take months but I'd be willing to wait)? I've always been a fan of arcade racers such as Burnout and Need for Speed, but I haven't played racing simulators before, and if I'm not mistaken, Forza is a more realistic racing game. I don't think it's a bad thing, just saying that I have no experience with those types of games. |

If you're used to arcade racers, you might not like it. |

It talks a lot of getting used to, but then again, I'm one of those people who never brakes....NEVER You actually have to slow down a lot to take almost any curve in real life, as it turns out |

I personally hate racing sims and found the game terribly, terribly boring. It is a good racing sim, I just dislike the genre overall. Try the demo. Also, Forza 2 is mad cheap. If you want it, you might just want to buy it and spend your points on something else. |

I'm a fan of the racing genre in general and I found Forza 2 to be a really great game. Yes, it is a racing simulator so you will find that you can't drive like an arcade game but if you like cars, tuning, painting, a cool online community and a vast array of cars, you will enjoy this game. Since you've never played a racing sim before, then I would suggest renting it. If you don't like it, it's because you don't like racing sims. EDIT: I find it odd when people make opinions on genres of games they hate. Edited by sirkibble2, Mar 18 2009, 09:18 PM.

Careful what you're reading into NFK's post. He said he dislikes Racing sim games, he states that Forza 2 is a very good racing sim, and then he reiterates that he doesn't like the genre. He never formed an opinion on the game because of the genre. NFK formed a DECISION about the game (that being not to buy it) based on the genre, which is a perfectly legitimate reason for not buying the game. No one made an opinion on genres of games they hate. |

I owned Forza 2, everything it tried to do it succeeded in, but I didn't enjoy it because I don't know anything about cars (nor do I really care about them other than for functionality) so a huge portion of the game was lost out on me. What I was left with was an unexciting racing game when compared to other games I own, like Burnout Paradise or Excite Truck. If what you like in racing games is the thrill of an instantly gratifying, adrenaline pumping race and little more, look elsewhere. If what you like are cars, tweaking them, watching them run, knowing what they're made of, etc on top of a realistic racing experience than you will most likely love Forza 2 to death because of just how realistic and just how large the selection of cars is. |

Hmm...well I just remembered that I have a friend who has Forza 2, so I'll see if I can borrow it from him first to try it out. I also received Moto GP 06 with my 360 for free, and although I try to like it, I can't stand how realistic it is, so I get the feeling Forza 2 is very similar. However, the only thing I don't like about the realisticness of Moto GP is how easy it is to fall off bikes, but since you can't "fall off your car" in Forza, maybe I'll like it more. I used to be really into cars and tuning them and such, so that's a plus. I still am, just not as much. Edited by js2393, Mar 18 2009, 10:08 PM.

You might get back into it with this game. I know I did even though I don't play as often as my other games but I'm happy when I do. Forza 2 does have the option of turning damage off. The problem with that is that you don't earn as much credit (money) after races. It counts towards your difficulty level and the easier you make the game for yourself, the less credit you earn which makes it harder and longer to buy upgrades and parts. |

Well today I made up my mind to go ahead and redeem my points for this game, but all of a sudden all 12k of my points are gone! At first I didn't really care, but I also noticed they just added a black wireless controller, something I really wanted and could have gotten! I'm hoping it's just a temporary glitch or something, because I've heard of this happening before, but I'm not so sure... ![]() EDIT: Just found out my tickets have expired. I had read that if you didn't login for 180 days, your tickets would be lost. Apparently it's either changed, or I just misread, but if you don't play a game for 180 days your tickets expire. So, I'm basically screwed. Edited by js2393, Mar 31 2009, 08:28 PM.
