Biggest slap in the face sequel?

What sequel have you played that is a disgrace to the series and you felt like you'd been slapped after playing it?

My biggest slap in the face was probably the Wii's motion control. It wasn't really a slap so much as a gradual realization of herpes or something. At first it wasn't so bad, I hoped it was just a rash, but eventually it was just flat painful at how much it was not what I hoped. But it's not so bad now that devs seem to have some kind of a grip on it.

Tales of Symphonia 2, for some perhaps, though I haven't played it.

I'm going to have to go with Diddy Kong Racing DS, if that counts. It's more like a remake, TBH, but it ruined the series for me.

...I may get flamed, but.

Braw... Wait, no. Scratch that. Donkey Konga. I <3 Rare's DK games, and Donkey Konga comes in and pushes me down and pisses on me ;_;

I agree on DKR DS blowing chunks. For me, it hasn't ruined the series, but Guitar Hero: Aerosmith was the worst sequel I've played to date. It feels poorly put together, and I've had tons of problems with the sound actually playing well and everything synching up. Which sucks, cause I really love Aerosmith.

I picked up DKR DS expecting a clone of DKR. Instead I got worse mechanics and extra lame weapons... especially powerups. Maybe I just remember it too fondly.

I just think they made DKRDS way too easy, because I always had trouble 100%-ing the game on the N64, but on the DS I flat out destroyed everything.

Also ToS2 was the biggest slap for my sisters' since they're HUGE Symphonia fans, while I'm an Abyss player lol

Well, keep in mind the age difference. Thigns are bound to be harder when you play them at 6 years of age.

It's probably just the age factor, DL. I never played the original on story mode so I wouldn't know.

Anyways, I actually thought DKR DS was a lot of fun, but I never found any competition on it. Everyone I asked to race against either flat-out refused me or complained about the game mechanics. I thought it was a solid racer with a little less tech skill required than MKDS, so I assumed more people would play it as a result. And Spaceport Alpha had a really good new BGM track.

The thing that bugged me most was how many people hated hovercrafts in that game... I swore by them <_<

I can vouch for your last post entirely, spas, but I'd be talking about the 64 game. It had good mechanics but not as techy as MK64. Spaceport Alpha had the best music ever. And Darkwater Bay (IIRC?) made me love Hovercrafts.

The biggest turnoff though I think was the new powerups.

Biggest turn off for me was that forced stylus thing at the beginning of a race.

The new forced start mechanic kinda irritated me, because it was kinda stupid, although the Plane + Hovercraft starts were insanely easy to pull off.

I've done that multiple times, and I just can't get it to line up right. Also, I can't get it to switch to mono audio, even when I switch the settings.

well thats gay my friend but I still think its your tv more so than the game cuz there is no way i would of beat it if it wasn't snycing up right. well i guess in a way it is the games fault because it should work on ALL tv's so your actually right.

I was able to beat it too (meaning finish all the songs on expert, I'm not one to go for all FC's) but it just didn't feel completely right in the process. Also, that was on a TV that has a surround sound system hooked up to it. When I brought it to college with my mono TV, that's when I started having the sound problems.

I consider it kind of a slap in the face because GHIII gave me none of these problems, and so logically GH:A shouldn't have either, but it did. That leads me to believe that they just didn't put the time and effort into it to make it a full, solidly good game.
