ah i get you now. i still wouldnt consider it a slap in the face sequal as much as just an unfourtainit situation.
I consider it kind of a slap in the face because GHIII gave me none of these problems, and so logically GH:A shouldn't have either, but it did. That leads me to believe that they just didn't put the time and effort into it to make it a full, solidly good game.
maybe I would feel the same as you if it happened to me but it didn't =\, but i get your point.

I can vouch for your last post entirely, spas, but I'd be talking about the 64 game. It had good mechanics but not as techy as MK64. Spaceport Alpha had the best music ever. And Darkwater Bay (IIRC?) made me love Hovercrafts.

The biggest turnoff though I think was the new powerups.
Yeah I'm gonna have to agree with you there. After playing through the first 2 hours I'm really turned off by the plot atm as well as the battles-- I just don't get the whole monster breeding thing. If I wanted something like that, I'd have played Pokemon.

.... What? We're talking about Diddy Kong Racing DS. I don't recall battles or monster breeding in that...

I rather liked SFC. SFA was a downright slap though.

Omg, thanks for reminding me about that horrible experience. I sold it after I unlocked all the endings-- my god, it had good controls, but for a Star Fox game it was horrible.

Mercenaries 2 is the only game I can think of. I really liked the first one, but I didn't even bother rent the 2nd one. After playing the demo, and hearing that the actual game wasn't much better, I decided not to waste my money.

EDIT: This isn't the first time I've mistaken Command for Assault. It's been a long time since I played both of them lol >_>

I'm gonna say Doom 3.

Although sometimes I get my E-ass kicked for saying that.

dkr:ds was kinda gay I guess. ugh, the mechanics were bad, and if I remember correctly, so were the graphics. i kinda felt stupid for spending 30 bucks on it. >_>

sfc was terrrrrrible imo. I never really liked the starfox series, besides assault so I guess I can't complain though.

probably in the minority here, but gears 2 really makes me question what the hell the developers where on at the time, though. from what ive heard CoD:WaW is also worse than CoD:4..

CoD 1 sucked, 2 rocked, 3 sucked, and 4 rocked. What did you expect from WaW?

I LOL'd IRL, considering this is a DS game, not some graphic heavy PS3 / 360 game

They were worse than the N64 graphics. That's bad enough for a remake. And you can't blame the system, when MKDS's look and presentation (read: graphics) are much better.

The blame falls on the developers rushing the game, or just developing poorly. Neither of which is unlike a slap in the face.

DKR DS was too easy IMO. I'm not even attributing that to age either, I breezed through the whole game, finished all the time trials easily and got T.T. with no struggle at all. Even the final race against Wizpig offered no challenge. I felt really let down.

I rather liked SFC. SFA was a downright slap though.
Star Fox Adventures wasn't a slap because it was a bad game, it was a slap because they totally degraded the Star Fox franchise by LITERALLY pasting Star Fox characters onto a near completed, unrelated game. Then they threw in a couple of Arwing levels and called it a day.

It wasn't a bad game though.
