Here are the instructions for the tournament! On Saturday Apr 11th, at from 5PM to 7PM (it may go later, as needed) everyone who wishes to participate must go to the chat. Step 1: Find opponents in the chat room and engage them in a tournament match, following the rules (below). The matches are 1v1 in standard online stages. You may compete in a maximum of 5 tournament matches. You must play against at least 3 different opponents (this means you can play the same person up to 3 times). Step 2: Report your matches here! Just post your tournament match record in this topic, stating who you won against and who you lost to. Each of your wins and losses must coincide with the other player's reports. Rules: -Both players must be aware that the match is "official" (meaning it will count in the tournament) before it begins. -If a player disconnects during an official match, the player that did not disconnect wins, unless they choose to waive this right and restart the match using the same stage. -Hacking or cheating in an official match will result in a suspension. -Official matches cannot take place before 5PM EDT. Standings will be posted here Saturday night or Sunday morning. From there we will take the top 4 players and seed a semifinals and finals match, with details on these to come. In the event of a tie for the top 4, the tiebreaker will take place tomorrow evening, before the semifinals (later this week). Prizes: (the winner gets to choose one) Spoiler: click to toggle

I recommend a standard round robin to determine seeding, then a single elimination bracket to decide the actual tournament. It would take longer, but it'd guarantee a structured tournament all throughout and would be much more fair to participants.

Round robin would be easier if I knew exactly how many people would show up, and who. I can't just say "everyone play everybody once". That would be awkward. The semifinals and finals will be bracketed. This is how it's going to work. The preliminaries are live, in the chat. They run from 5 until 7, but if you haven't gotten your 5 matches done in that time you can finish up after 7 during the meetup. This is to accommodate members wishing to participate that can't be in the chat at exact times: as I suddenly realized in the other topic, not everyone will be available for two set straight hours. It's Easter Saturday. This way I hope to maximize participation. I know it's not ideal. I know that letting you guys do matchups yourselves may cause one or two of you to be short a match. I know the system isn't perfect for anyone. It's designed to be adequate for everyone. |

Since no one showed up for the tourney ( me included ) I was wondering if I can still find comp at this place. Is there another thread where I can go to set up matches, find other players, and exchange friend codes for mkds? |

No one showed up for the tournament? Geesh. I couldn't make it cause I was helping someone with a video. I didn't like the format anyway though. <_< |

Do you have MSN/AIM k4? Sorry I ran off last night, but I'd love to play you whenever you're available. |

TBQH, I give up. If we make an organized strictly structured tournament with set matches and deadlines and sign ups, no one can make a commitment. If we make a no-sign-up, no commitment, relaxed, live tournament over a two hour period no one objected to, no one shows up. |

No one provides a commitment because the tournament is never hyped enough. Right now, I have the only completed tournament to date and that's because I stayed on everyone's butt to complete their matches. If they didn't, chance decided. That's how a lot of online tournaments are ran. Right now, the BDC Fray tournament looks like it will have the best format that we've ever ran a tournament with. Organized, quick and on the spot right at the event we are pretty much are already playing games. Your idea was good Phoenix but the weekend was a poor choice and the structure wasn't good. Running tournaments is a learning experience. Don't give up. Just redo the MKDS tournament for another date. |

SK, Thorn had a successful prize MKDS tourney too (never knew if the winner got his prize though). Sorry this fell through. |
