Nintendo--in all their wisdom and glory--decided to make the Wii Motion Plus addon $20.

Lets do the math. If you want one full controller:

Bare wiimote: $40
+
Nunchuck: $20
+
Wii Motion Plus: $20
=$80

That's $80 for one controller. Heck, we could even factor in the classic controller if you want to be able to actually play your non-NES VC games. That would mean $100 to ensure you can play any normal game you buy.

Gee Nintendo, nice move. The one shot you had at making the Wii an actual revolution has been blown. What casual is going to walk into the store, and have a little square box grab their attention over a $20 game? But Nintendo--again in their vast wisdom--forsaw this and decided to package the Wii Motion Plus with Wii Sports Resort. For $50. Yes, Wii Sports 2, a game who's predecessor was free, is now $50 and comes with a little white square.

And the Wii is still $250. The 360 is now $200. Hmm...

The 360 controller is 60$, and the addon keyboard is 20$. Or maybe that's just my Canadian madness speaking.

Here, remotes are 45$ and nunchuks are 15$. Motion+ will probably be 25$, so 85$ for a remote in Canada is nuts. Thankfully I plan to get all my nunchuks used for 5$ at Gamestop.

Unless the motion+ does something epic with future games, I'd rather skip it and wait to see what happens.

Nintendo, in there infinite wisdom has also realized that the Wii is the top selling console on the market. With that statistic, they realize many people already have Wiimotes. Not only that, but most people probably already bought multiple Wiimotes. Not to mention, casuals aren't going to by it anyway because they aren't concerned in the games where the controls actually make a difference.

So, what, you were expecting this to be free? Infact, don't bother, complain about wii sports resort being $50 all you want, it's going to sell by the truckload, and its at the same price point as wii play, and assuming wii sports resort isn't a complete turd like wii play was, this now has the wii sports brand recognition to go along with it, and given it's probably the most well known game on the wii, that will be a huge benefit.

I would also like to point out at this time that the motion plus isn't even going to seriously be for "casuals", the people who really care about true 1:1 are the ones you would class as "hardcore" gamers.

This isn't required for any game to be playable other than wii sports resort, which, surprisngly is coming with it, the other games that are out that we know use motion plus all provide the option of playing without it, in a modified way.

And hey, nintendo are obviously the price pirates for accessories, and thats just what this is, when Microsoft charge £60 for a wireless adaptor for the 360, or activision charging £90 (more on release) for controls for rock band, or the makers of guitar hero charging a grand total of £180 at release for the game and the full set of controls for world tour.

But yeah, still not buying more than 2 until something motivates me to.

Loz, the point is, is that if you don't get Wii Motion Plus you're buying a gimped controller. It's only (hopefully) going to get more popular, and more and more games are going to start using it, and it's going to become necessary. Hopefully Nintendo decides to build it into the next wave of Wiimotes.

Already a bunch of games by EA and others like Red Steel 2/The Conduit are confirmed to be using it.

Wii Sports Resort should honestly be $30 w/ the Wii Motion Plus. If Wii Sports Resort is just Wii Sports, but with different games (meaning no fleshed out modes, no online, etc), then it really is once again just a tech demo for Nintendo's latest invention. Wii Play was only $10 considering the remotes are $50, and $10 is pretty cheap for a decent Wii game.

Then again, I am assuming that the Wii Motion Plus is sub-$10 to produce. If it's actually costing around $15-$20 for Nintendo to produce and ship it, well, then it's obviously a reasonable price. But I honestly doubt it, it's essentially just a tiny gyrometer, right? I can't imagine it being too costly.

Phoenix, 360 controllers are $40 here.

I'd really like to know your reasons why this supplement should be less than $20.

I can't believe you don't see the point of the pricing. Wii Sports is a casuals gamers playground. I called my parents today and I interrupted their Wii Tennis game. I had another friend who scolded me and was shocked that I owned a Wii and didn't play Wii Sports.

Casuals. Love. Wii. Sports. Keep that in mind and you'll realize that when casuals pick up on the fact that Wii Sports Resort is out, they will pick that up too and with the "better controls," that is an extra appeal. If there is one that has kept a casual gamer away from games, it's a controller. This will be very enticing to them.

BAM!! Insta-$50.

Besides: $30 Wii Sports Resort + $20 Wii Motion Plus = $50. So Wii Sports Resort is, essentially, $30.

I still think instead they should re-design the wiimotes in the future so all of them have an already built-in wii motion plus-like sensor/feel to them even if it means upping the base price of a wiimote to like $50 USD.
