So, I finally got to see Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen last night. My immediate thought: AWESOME. Now before I get bombarded with angry comments, let me elaborate: I loved the first Transformers movie even though I had never seen the animated cartoon (I still haven't.) After seeing it and then reading the reviews about how it was a typical Michael Bay movie with a disappointing story and amazing action (I refuse to read reviews before I see a movie, because they tend to influence my opinion of a movie before I've even seen it.), I realized I'm just a fan of action movies, despite how mediocre the story might be. Especially movies with lots of CGI since I'm really into 3D animation. After reading the reviews for Transformers 2, I see why many critics were disappointed. When I look at it from a movie critic's point of view, it lacks a great story although I think it's at least decent. I've never seen the cartoon, so I'm not sure if the movie follows that plot, but the story seemed a bit "cheesy" although I was satisfied with it. The dialogue was probably what bothered me the most. Many parts were funny, and the acting didn't seem bad to me, but there were also many times where I felt like profanity and lines that were supposed to be funny were just completely overdone. It just seemed too immature at times. (I think dialogue was just thrown in as a response to people complaining about the first movie lacking much dialogue.) From a personal standpoint, I loved the movie. The story was satisfying, the CGI was amazing, the action was awesome, and the music was excellent as well. It is also a long movie (lasting 2 hrs 30min). I never understood why people complain about a movie being long. If it's a good movie that I really enjoy, then I don't want it to end. The main reason I can overlook the mediocre story however, is that a movie with a lot of great action sequences is much more enjoyable for me to watch over and over again. Even if a movie has a great story, I might watch it 1, maybe 2 times within a short time span before I must wait months for me to forget what happens so that I can enjoy watching it again. So, that's my opinion on the movie. What do you guys (and/or girls) think of the movie? Edited by js2393, Jun 30 2009, 08:53 PM.

Oh yes, I saw it on opening day, as I did with Transformers 1. It was very good, in my opinion. The story was just fine. The only thing people are b****ing about apparently, is that there's not enough human story. It IS called TRANSFORMERS, not HUMANS, though so I don't really get it. IMO, a solid 9.3/10. It could have been a little more actiony, and the little parts about his parents not wanting him to leave and stuff could have been shorter, but it was still quite satisfying. |

Im a huge movie critic myself, and these are the type of movies that really have no appeal to me. I prefer watching older, classic movies that are remembered for being great. Years from now no one is going to care about Transformers because it did nothing interesting except blow stuff up. Im not saying people can't enjoy it, as many plainly do, I just prefer to take a more critical approach to film. |

Ironically, with the first one, people were complaining that there wasn't enough Transformer stuff and that it focused too much on the humans. I personally really liked the story, cause I tend to like stuff that provides a canon and a backstory. However, I'm not sure how much I'll be able to watch it on DVD or when it comes on TV. It seemed too long for me. Length can e deserved, but the longer a movie is, the less likely I am to watch it later because it's such a time commitment. I don't think Transformers totally deserved the length, because some of the action sequences aren't super necessary. I think that if it's going to be so big, it needs to wow me. Not all of them did. Lastly, I don't think it has anywhere to go. With a movie already 2 1/2 hours long and full of ridiculous action sequences, it's really hard to make a bigger movie. If the trend continues, Transformers 3 (if it happens) would end with the destruction of the Sun. |

LOL I was thinking the same thing ptfreak. This one was so big I wonder what they could do in Transformers 3, which there will inevitably be. They could improve the story and character development a little to make it an excellent movie, but action-wise I'm not sure what else is needed.

This movie is probably the worst movie I've ever seen. I seriously can't think of any movie worse than this. The plot is incoherent, the jokes are retarded, and the characters are all completely expendable. This movie SUCKS. |

The movie was absolutely crap. I was very entertained, but it was total crap. Never have I seen so much shattered flying rock & rubble. There were absolutely no shots of hand-to-hand transformer combat that wasn't zoomed in like crazy. The action was exciting, but incredibly confusing. And there was one scene, near the end, that had to be one of the worst shots in the history of action films. Let me describe it. Cut to scene. In the middle of the screen, you instantly focus on the only moving thing: a pigeon, landing on the Sphinx's nose, dead centre of the shot. Way off to the left, you see a couple of robots walking toward you out of the dust, but you're still staring at the pigeon right in the middle on the giant nose. Nothing else happens. Admit it, you all stared at the pigeon. |

Yeah the movie and the entire series has some of the absolute worst robot fights I've ever seen. It's impossible to tell what's going on because all the robots look like heaps of scrap metal and most are gray. Also, there's so much comic relief that I started throwing up everywhere. See you in two years for Transformers 3! |

Oh, I almost forgot. The little blue decepticon, "Wheels" or something. Where the F*** did he go??? Like, halfway through the movie, he DISAPPEARS. Gone. wtf. |
