Bacon wants to speak German, therefore, he is the cool one. Cause he's gonna be in Germany a whole lot.

Uhh... Well, I did study french for 5 years, can't remeber a word of it, damn compulsuray learning of a language I didn't care about. I'm studying japanese at the moment, and ~hopefully~ going to end up fluent in it.

I know a bit of Spanish. I wish I had taken a more interesting language though, like Russian or German. (Spain doesn't really interest me as a place I'd like to visit)

@Bucs: Maybe Bacon won't ever live in Germany, but he might take a trip there someday and knowing the language will allow him to enjoy the trip much more. And even if he doesn't, learning a language is a great way to broaden your cultural horizons and learn more about a different group of people in the world. There's never anything wrong with that.

Lol actually I don't care. I just hate when I go into a store and ask where something is and they just stare at me because they don't know English. It's bullshit.

I'm actually considering learning Japanese and whatnot for my career D:

Thats pretty much most of the reason i'm learning it, I figure it might be helpful in getting a job in programming if i choose to go the video games route, not 100% sure yet, but I won't have to decide until the 2nd year of my degree [aka next september].

And when your college decides to offer free japanese lessons for the 2nd half of the year, why say no, lol

I'm as fluent in French as I am in English. I'm picking up a bit of Spanish this summer, or trying to.

Fluent French of a French-Canadian.

And a bit of English. School certainly didn't help with that one.

I took 3 years of french in high school. I mastered this sentence ever since I left:

"Je parlais francais mais maintenant je ne le parle plus."

I'm current an East Asian Languages/Cultures-Japan major at UC Berkeley... sorta. My first semester is in a couple of weeks. Move in date is August 23rd. My major basically says I'm a Japanese Studies major with focus on language/literature. I took Japanese in my community college in 2005 as a usual weeaboo anime fan and suddenly it just became a passion. In the four years past, I've taken at least 4 semesters of it in my community college, a few side review classes, and one summer in Japan last year for 7 weeks in Tokyo. My fluency level is... I can speak with a random person in a casual basis about stuff like school and why we're at the location. Nothing too hard like politics, religion, etc, the juicy stuff. Hopefully I can learn that stuff in the 2 years to follow at Cal :) Writing wise, I'm pretty good... with the aid of dictionaries and stuff. But when I write, I just think of witty stuff to write about.
