Share your memories of the hayday Cartoon Network. Mine are:
The Slogan or Motto: "Screwy, Ain't It?" A Tex Avery kind of line.
Some of the bumpers had some form of Powerhouse.
Acme Hour
JBVO
Johnny Bravo's relationship with the Scooby-Doo cast
Commericals featuring characters from the past and present together
The bumpers for each show between the show and commercials
New Intro themes for Looney Tunes, Tom & Jerry, etc.
Cartoon Cartoon Fridays
Big Game
June Bugs (even though I didn't see a single one)
The 10th Anniversary Commercial
The Logo (it was so perfect)

On top of everything Mr. Kabong said, the Looney Tunes Superbowls!

Sylvester vs. Tweety, Wile E. vs Roadrunner, and Bugs vs. Daffy... I don't remember any more than that, but when they stopped showing these, Superbowl Sunday became kinda "Blah" to me...

tom vs. jerry

I just miss the days before hannah barbera studios became cartoon network studios.

Hey I mentioned the "Super Bowls"! I just called them The Big Game instead.

I remember when CN had like the "Old and New Marathons" The new one showed Dexter's Lab, PPG, Ed, Edd, Eddy, Cow & Chicken, etc. While the old marathon showed all Looney Tunes! I would have like to have seen MGM, H-B, and Popeye, too but what the hey.

I also remember marathons for not only Bugs, but Porky's birthday one time, Daffy had "Happy Feathers Day!" (Father's Day), and the others.

Also, does anybody know who the contendors for The Big Games and which one was the winner?

Bah! All of you remember this Super Bowl cartoon thing and I don't... well, now that I think of it, I remember a commercial or bumper of it.

Was it only on during the Super Bowl Sundays? And how did the characters win the games?

Don't forget Toonami, the old-school action block! Voltron, Thundercats, and Moltar the original host... and TOM, his laid-back robotic replacement!

And if you're not a fan of anime, Toonami also showed American cartoons: Space Ghost, Birdman, Batman, and the Real Adventures of Johnny Quest.

I kinda like the new logo they have. But the old one was better.

What's that?

Nickelodeon had the best intro theme. Any of you guys remember that one?

"Ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-baaaa-ba! And now, it's time for the show!"

It was the only intro that featured Bosko. B)

They would show clips from cartoons and lets say Bugs did something Daffy in that scene (when I say something I mean a painful something) Bugs would get a point(s). It was only on Super Bowl weekends.

Toonami was an excuse for me to finally get away from Cartoon Network. I don't like action cartoons that much.

The old logo....they could do SO much with it!! They put it with "Gun in holes" gag from "A Star is Bored", moving eyes for Scooby-Doo, etc...

JBVO is Johnny Bravo hosting a request a cartoon show.

Damn, I totally forgot about that. I used to think it was weird that Johnny Bravo was hosting it, of all characters.

Do you remember what shows were aired through that program? Was it just the Cartoon-Cartoons, or was there more?

And how were the requests taken? I think this was before the internet became a staple, like six or seven years ago, right?

And back on topic, remember Cartoon Network Theater? Way back when the "Toon Extra!" filler at the end was a classic? With that gown wearing, red haired Statue of Liberty (or whoever it was supposed to be)?

Good memories...

You got that right.

Wow, old Cartoon Network really showed a lot of love to the classics, didn't it?

By the way, I think I'll move this to Blast from the Past, if you don't mind.

Johnny Bravo rocked... besides, it was one of those LT-esque shows, with a lot more humor for adults...

Amazonian woman- "GREAT VOLCANO GOD!! WE BRING YOU THE SACRIFICE OF THIS YOUNG VIRGIN-"
Johnny- *raises eyebrow* "Virgin? Um, excuse me, did you just say 'virgin'?"
Woman- "WE HOPE THE VIRGIN SACRIFICE APPEASES YOU, OH GREAT VOLCANO GOD!"
Johnny- "Um, 'virgin'? did she just say 'virgin'-?"

That wasn't the exact quote, but it's what I can piece together from my fragmented memory...

Was her name really "Red"?

Yes, it was, though Kabong can tell you if she actually was referred to by that name or not.

"Marvin the Martian" wasn't called by that name in any original Looney Tunes episode, Neither was Taz, I think. Those are fan-given names that Chuck Jones and WB incorporated. Same may be true for "Red."

I first heard of Cartoon Network around 1994, when I found out that my grandparents had this on satelite. I got the channel in 1997, when my cable service added this channel. While I wanted to have cable because I wanted Nickelodeon, I wasn't too upset over not having Cartoon Network at first, though I did watch it (and TV Land) when I got this channel added.

It was so great seeing Looney Tune sso much, especially June Bugs. I liked the first two "Fifty Greatest Cartoons" marathon, but didn't think that the following years "The Best We Got" marathon, featuring classic cartoons on one day and Cartoon Network cartoons the next day, was as good.

I liked the commercials where fan mail was read (especially the one where a mother asked for a picture of Jim Carrey for her son). I liked the promo where somebdy tauhgt how to draw Bullwinkle (focusing mainly on making sure the antlers were included). I like Toonheads and The Bob Clampett Show. I was disapointd that The Chuck Jones Show didn't have any informative information or even trivia between the cartoons (and that these cartoons weren't uncut, unlike on The Bob Clampett Show). I liked Late Night Black and White (though hated that Bosko and Buddy weren't included).

Actually, with Taz it was just short for Tasmanian Devil and on the model sheets his name was "Taz Boy", and Marvin was given his name by the Roman god of Mars, and as for Red, I do believe the Wolf called her "Red" at least one time.

And to answer you JBVO question
No, Johnny also accepted classic requests also.
