The sky was the color of a tuned out television, dingy and grey, specks of white reflecting the static of the sky. the camera pans down to a neon lit city of bustling metropolis, the populous teeming like so many ants behind the glass of an ant farm, breathing talking, multiplying, going about their business under the corporate regime. The screen goes black before slowly fading in words that filled the screen: Devastation \ˌde-və-ˈstā-shən\ noun: 1 : to bring to ruin or desolation by violent action <a country devastated by war> 2 : to reduce to chaos, disorder, or helplessness : overwhelm <devastated by grief> <her wisecrack devastated the class> The text is supplemented by a quote. “Anarchism, really stands for the liberation of the human mind from the dominion of religion; the liberation of the human body from the dominion of property; liberation from the shackles and restraint of government.” Fade in to the sound of guitars playing thrash metal as a figure leans on a steel railing, rain pitter patters the city about him as cars and other veichles pass him by the sounds from the inside of the bar echoing out as he drank the beer. (V.O) "It was the same music they'd played the last two times they came here, it was starting to get dull, so I'd bailed out into the rain, taking my beer with me, hopefully they'd play something new soon ad I'd grace the ladies with my presence once more, but until then it was wait until the rain stopped, and the hit the road once I'd gotten sober." The screen stamps black and words from once again like the stamp had hid on reality RULE 1: Attitude is everything 5 minutes later The world snaps back to reality with a window shattering crash as the form of a young punker rolls past the beer sipping form, who is revealed to be Devlin, watching impassively as the young punk starts to get up and groans while the Bouncer, affection ally named 'Red' steps out after him, the guy was huge.. Samoan sunglasses, just the right sort of attitude in those biker leathers. "And Stay out Jerkstain" Red turned back in wandering back towards that awful band, the tune hadn't sounded much like anything was still continuing. Devlin sighed as the rain plastered his form some more. RULE 2: If you're going to do something, do it with STYLE The limo pulled up as the beer was pulled on one more time, Devlin's reflection cast into the black mirrored plates that bounced the harsh neon styling and adverts into his own mirror shades , a smirk crossed his features as the window rolled down ans a voice smooth a silk spoke up. "Devastation Raines?" He nods and the door opens and Raines blows a dismissive breath shaking his head as he speaks, a little smirk on his features. "Sure, bud I wasn't born yesterday and if you think I'm getting' in that car..." The other door opened and the biggest guy you've ever seen gets out the silhouette towers over Devlin as he looks up impassively behind the sunglasses finally speaking. "Oh yeah, -now- I remember , sure.. Larry...I'll get in" and just as the car door closes RULE 3:-ALWAYS- take it to the edge The scum bucket in the limo talked like every Corp there ever was, a used car salesman bartering for your interest in in commercial safety for the small price of your soul. The man who the voice belonged to was dressed in a white suit and had that massive hulk of flesh you might call a man sat next to hi mas he spoke at a million miles an hour about a new job, a contract a theft, a transport...Raines wasn't really listening he waswaiting for the amount of zeros attached to the check, seeing how much this corp wanted whatever the heck it was. Then he heard the APWC, and his interest snapped back into reality. "So what do you say Dev? Steady income, the chance to fight on a regular basis and spread the message to the peopel all you gotta do is sign a contrcat..." Devlin's lips curve into a smile and the screen turns blank. We cut back to reality, the masive hulk of a man's face staring into camera as the white suited figure gets tossed over the bonnet of his limo, Devlin's face cutopen as he walks around the front onf the limo, pulling the contract out of the man's pocket and smirking as he pulls the man's face into his own to speak. "I'll have my lawyers go over the finer details, and read the fine print...take this ...as a maybe." And with that he dropped the corper and started to walk away. The screen flickered and buzzed some as the coding broke away to reveal black and green computer code, chanig ncolors tho green and red as a voice starst to speak up as the image flickers of that of a road endlessly trvealling forwrads under the beams of car headlights. (V.O)"Yeah, I signed it, I needed the money, need teh cash to square away to spendon high fashion, the best music, the finer tatsesin life if only for a few moments, but I never forget where I began, street level.. in the gutter with al lthe other zombies, the slaves to the corporate desires of the world. But I saw this chance, to be freem to take the rules I saw and bend them til lthey broke to spread the message of the revolution among the people to whom it mattered most..." Everything goes black, silent and impassive before Devlin's voice speaks up again. "You.." The camera fades out to yet another text announcement. End Program...... Welcome to the Revolution... |
