October 19th 2008 - Well, as I'm sure you all noticed, Adversity is having some issues. We randomly converted to Zetaboards and lost nearly everything. All our old codes, including our AC, is completely gone and never to return. Not only that, but our skin disappeared with it, though I luckily have the images saved in my Photobucket account. For now I am just trying to get AV looking decent again so we can re-open. Also I will be searching for some new codes to replace the old ones. It may take a while, but I want to thank you all for being here and supporting AV during this. I know it sucks xP Also, thanks everyone who's helped me so far, I can't tell you all how much I appreciate this. -Koz. |
-How to make tables work in Zetaboards. -Money code that works, Dae supplied me with 2 but both of them don't appear to work. That's it for now. I will add things to the list as I think of them though, so keep checking in! |

It was a trecherous journey for some, but to the motley crew, it was a simple task to navigate down the mountain sides. Zafar pulled the position of leader, not that anyone really followed his pathetic attempts to hold control over everyone. It would seem an easy task to overthrow him, but what point is there to doing such a thing when if you're Roderyk, you run everyone anyhow, but don't get the credit for it, or Mechlan who simply doesn't follow orders anyway and is happy killing people or lastly, Tarfinalia, the only female in the group as well as the one with the most freedom because the mutt who thinks that he's in charge is googoo for you because he's a love stricken canary who sings for his keeper who has no desire to return his song. And yet, the caged bird continues to sing. Just goes to show that Zafar isn't the brightest one around. But, he had come up with an idea recently; one that he had hoped wasn't going to be turned down. Indeed it wasn't; which brought forth the reason why this group was moving swiftly down the hill sides and loping in the shadows.

Paw after paw, the foursome grew closer to the valley's base, where the forest grew thick with lush greenery and the prey was abundant. The only false move would be being caught while in the midst of the territory of the alpha. Of course, it would be no mistake for the group, but the mistake of the alpha who wandered into their feast uninvited. For despite the fact that this was owned land, Zafar's group was a strange piece of work. For one, each of them had some kind of ability that made them worth something, with the exception of Tarfi. She was simply a pleasure for Zafar and to Roderyk and Mechlan, a pain in their lives that I'm sure either of them could have lived without. Getting back to the reasons why they would be a force to reckon with, Zafar had brute strength, not that it did him any good with the other three companions he traveled with since intimidation was the least thing they worried about. Against another opponent, the ebony male could hold his own. Mechlan was a born assassin. He murdered people with ease, feeling no emotion for it and certainly no regret later. Those sort of things come from a life changing experience such as having your vocal chords physically ripped from your throat. And last, but certainly not least, Roderyk was a pure genius. Who needs brons when you have brains? Roderyk is most likely to be the hardest opponent you would ever face, other than Mechlan of course. He's cunning and fleet footed and though there isn't too much muscle on those bones, he knows an aweful lot about the structure of a wolf and can make calculations in his head before you could blink an eye.

Over all, they are a deadly force to want to even consider messing with them and barging in on their charades was to ask for death or plead that they spare you your life, only to become thier slave and serve out the rest of your life in terror that they might dislike something you did and decided that you are even more worthless than before. Then you're fed to Mechlan. Not that he's a cannibal or anything, but he gets plenty of fun from killing wolves who can't defend themselves. Well, now that that's said and done, one with the hunt. Zafar had been down these slopes recently, using his efficiency in dark arts to sustain himself as he moved about alone. He had gone scouting in the time that everyone had been sitting around before the meeting and tracked a good number of deer. One in particular was a mother doe, heavy with a fawn. Zafar had high hopes that they would find the female, either in the midst of giving birth or having just delivered. Sure, it wouldn't be a struggle, but who cares about a struggle as long as you have food. As a wiser wolf might say, life is a struggle so get used to it.

Quietly sniffing as they followed a path that grew to the narrow edging of a steep hill, Zafar called quietly for everyone to make a single file line as they moved across the slimming path. After a few steps, one of Zafar's deep black paws slipped, causing a pebble to skid down the granite side of the ever winding rock face. He came close to yelling about his mistake, only to remember that yelling could cause a rock slide or in any case, it would scare of the deer that lay up ahead. Banner low and stance somewhat crouched, Zafar followed the pathway in the same way he had earlier and prayed that they would reach wider portion of the path. To his gratitude, he made it onto a dirt path that faded from the gravel and enjoyed the solid feeling that came with it. With the shadows of trees now looming over and about them, Zafar now felt much more satisified at the prospect of night. He paused briefly, his skull rising and his nose twitching softly to sniff the air. The doe wasn't far now, maybe a mile to the north and from the smell of scent, she hadn't given brith yet but was awefully close. With a sneer, Zafar waited for the rest of the group to catch up before padding off into the darkness of the canopy.

Head held high with golden orbs scanning the ground as he went, Zafar followed the tracks that laid in the fresh soil. The mist of dew was steadily setting as they traveled, the night's hours slowly fading into the oblivion of day. A bit of tension clung fast to Zafar, the thought of another animal's blood savoring his mouth and if it wasn't for the fact that it was quite dark outside, any one of the members could have seen him salivating and drooling on himself. He quickly swiped a paw over his muzzle, relieving himself of the drivel and focused on the main task. Keeping a steady pace, he headed deeper into the forest. Twasn't long before he stopped in a clump of trees and stared out into a small clearing with a brook trickling through. The sound effects of the water pushing through the moss collected in the stream and the grass swaying in the breeze of the night would have calmed anyone, with the exception of the wolves waiting to feast upon the doe standing in the middle with a heavily swollen belly. She looked so innocent, and yet, as Zafar watched her with gleaming eyes, innocence was furthest from his mind.

[/dohtml] |

Stood out like a purple rose in a yellow rose garden. Picking his way down the side of the mountain Roderyk stopped to look out over the valley. Harks pricked absentmindedly expecting to hear Mechlan draw up beside him. Eyes flicked back and forth down the rocky mountainside. Then his gaze switched to Zafar and the path he was taking. Brow creased in confusion and slight frustration. Rolling his eyes Rod decided to just take a different route without telling Zafar, it would only start a small squabble and Roderyk had already filled todays quota of fighting energy.

Jumping down off the boulder he was perched on Rod forged his own path down to the valley. His cream colored fur was a blur as he dodged trees, rocks and undergrowth. Pebbles dislodged at the touch of his paws like he was sliding down the hill on a rockslide. Reaching a small dirt path that looked like the one the others had taken Rod scrabbled to halt his body that was flying down at a fierce velocity. The male almost fell off the side of the path, plunging into the forest again but he found a foot hold and came to a sudden stop. Climbing back onto the path Rod sat on the other side of the path and waited. He didnt know if Mech had followed him or not but it didnt matter because they all had to reach the bottom sooner or later.

Ears were alert for any sounds of the others approach as the male lpunged lazily across the road. He wondered how the hunt would go just as his stomach protested loudly at the fact that it had not seem one morsel of food in days. It was about time he got off his lazy butt and took care of his body. I mean he was no Tarfi, he didnt wake up every morning an rush to the nearest stream to see her reflection and make sure she looked perfect.

Pawsteps were coming towards him as he shook his fur. Soon enough Zafar came into view and Roderyk tried unsuccessfully to keep a smirk off his face. "Nice to see you again" he let the words roll off his tongue. Hark twitched in amusement. Rod stood to take his place slightly behind Zafar and the little groupd made their way down into the valley

As they neared the bottom of the valley Rod let his gaze slowly scan the surrounding area, nose held high to catch the breezes that blew into his face searching for prey. Rod saw Zafar tense and take off after something. Rod decides to follow as well, running behind the ebony wolf. A doe soon came into view as Rod almost stopped in his tracks, his stride faltered as he saw that she was pregnant. She was so innocent, why her? There were plenty of other deer to prey upon. Drawing even with Zafar Roderyk spoke. "Why are we hunting a pregnant doe? There are plenty of others, let this one go and produce more deer for us to hunt in the future. If we leave her she will give us twice the food later when the baby will be old enough to hunt as well. Lets move on" tone was urgent as he spoke quickly.

[/dohtml] |

Let's kick this plot into action! Ohz, and remember that only Koz can understand the deer ^^ and when Koz is talking to the deer she's using the deer language.
Word Count -- 974

Shadows. Everywhere they lurked, twisting and spiraling over and around everything. Pulling at reality. Shadows had a way of distorting things. Bending them. Making things appear different. Sometimes, they made things look worse than they actually were. Sometimes they spurred fear into those who had nothing to fear. Sometimes shadows lied. They were dark things, malevolent. Angry. However, sometimes they were comforting. A gentle pillow upon which to rest your head for a while until you found which way you were supposed to go again. Yet, if you lay upon that dark pillow too long, your mind would fray and become unreliable. Left and right would never be clear to you again. It was better to struggle through it all, better not to rest. For once you lay down to rest, you'd never again want to get up. If you did managed, the idea would lurk behind you. Follow you. Stalk you. It'd be so easy to go back, so easy to lose yourself. Letting insanity swallow you, changed you permanently. No matter how hard you tried, you'd never be the same. It was a lesson, long and painful. The shapeshifter had learned it.

It was late fall, and the leaves that whirled not three feet below the dark hawk were shades of bright yellow, red, and orange. They glowed like a wildfire, spreading on for miles across the dying landscape. The female had always heard about how pretty the fall was, but all she ever found in it was death. The grass was dying, the leaves on the trees. The little animals prepared to hide away, to suffer until the freezing snow left them well alone. Fall was a time when the creatures of the world prepared for their deaths. The large, black hawk had to listen to it all. She flew right over the trees, and she listened to the cries of the animals beneath. They knew very well that winter was coming. They were scared, and rightfully so. Purple eyes tainted with shards of shattered silver spotted a meadow filled with a few various deer. Bored nearly out of her mind, and needing something to concentrate on, the shapeshifter let herself fall below the tree line. Maneuvering expertly, the large hawk landed on the ground without a scratch from the tree branches. Leaning forward slightly, the black feathered hawk began to change. In a split second the shapeshifter turned into a deer. Her coat turned a creamy tan color, her feet hardened into hooves. She looked exactly like any other doe in the forest. She had shifted perfectly, down to her eye color which she had turned a deep chocolate brown. The only thing that was different was the silver earring dangling from her right ear, but it was not noticeable unless one looked closely. The other deer would not notice.

The doe moved swiftly through the trees, the sunlight dappling delicately on her back. The air smelled very damp, and the smell of rotting plants was greatly intensified. As she stepped out into the meadow, only one deer bothered to turn its head and look. She appeared to be one of them. She was a wolf in deer's clothing. They probably would have noticed, had she been hungry and actually been using her disguise to hunt. However, she was not so cruel. She only wanted to speak with them. The female had studied deer a lot, it was useful to know your prey in and out. So when she got within ten feet of them, she stopped and nodded her head. The other female's in the group picked their heads up and nodded back, one of them approached her cautiously. "Greetings Newcomer." The deer spoke, her tones soft like a breeze running through the leaves in the forest. The shapeshifter watched the deer twitch, her eyes constantly turning and watching for some invisible foe about to attack. The shapeshifter did not have that fear. She nodded her own head. "Greetings HerdMother." The once dark wolf grimaced internally. She hoped that she had gotten the term correctly, or her secret would be soon found out. The deer smiled and swished her white fluffy tail. "Close enough. I am HerdMother to be, our current HerdMother is out about to bring life to us." She nodded, grateful that her mistake had cost her nothing. This herd was not as uptight as others she had met. "Thank you for your wisdom." She replied, forcing herself to give the deer a small smile. After a few more words between the two of them, the shapeshifter was given directions to the HerdMother.

The HerdMother was in a smaller clearing nearby, and heavily pregnant. The clearing was clearly burned into the shapeshifter's memory, and she found it easily. The air was different. It tasted odd to her deer nostrils, so she bent down to pretend to graze. It only took a millisecond, but she shifted her nostrils to that of a wolf. The smell made sense then. The smell of male wolf. The smell of anticipation. The smell of the hunt. Turning her nostrils back to that of a deer, she continued to make her way to the HerdMother. Finally the old doe appeared through the trees, grazing intently by herself, her belly full of life. Fully aware of a potential danger, but not showing it, the shapeshifter boldly stepped out into the clearing. The tan and white HerdMother lifted her head and smiled. "Kozone, my dear, this is quite a surprise." She'd met the deer before, in a similar way. They weren't friends, but they weren't enemies either. "It's been a while." Kozone replied, calmly. Her eyes roamed the surroundings, but she couldn't see anything wrong. She swallowed, the small rabbit she'd eaten earlier felt like lead in her stomach.

[/dohtml] |

The days were getting shorter which meant less daylight to be had. Winter was closing in and soon there would no longer be a bounty of food. A long ways down a mountain sat a vast ocean of waving green figures, calling out to them that there was a feast to be had. Tarfinalia had no intentions of turning back now, for none of the lazy brutes had taken to her demands to get her something to eat. Even though she knew it wasn’t necessary, her coat screamed out to her that it needed proteins, or at least something to help it contain a silky shine. They hadn’t come across any form of water recently, which meant she hadn’t been able to do much for her coat, but a small bath was better than no bath. As long as her coat stayed clean and free of knots. The closer they came to the mountain, the more she began to realize that they were, in fact, planning on taking the rubble stricken path down the mountainside. As much as she would like to eat, or try to find some form of fresh water to allow her to finally cleanse her creamy pelt. Her tongue had run dry within the lack of water, and her coat had fallen flat since there was no longer the humidity of the summer months. This wasn’t necessarily a bad thing, yet Tarfinalia was one to like the warmer months over the bone chilling cold. Cold did not allow times for extended naps and plentiful snacks, which was what most of her life usually consisted of. Besides, she deserved it. Without her, they wouldn’t of had a reason to get off their lazy asses and get some food, or find a new place to go where there was more clean water sources to clean her coat. She couldn’t help but laugh at the thoughts, since after all, the world should revolve around her. As they made their way down the hill, which now seemed like a mountain side to her small figure, she saw Roderyk go bounding off of the trail, taking pride in his steps as he went. He was such a fool. He always thinks that everything he does has no reason to be noticed, but she knew he wanted the exact opposite. He would probably want Mech to follow, and then she would be alone with Zafar, who is quite boring to be honest, and then she would get bored and run after Roderyk which would then send Zafar bounding after her. Happens every time, and she would be sure to do it again. Down near the bottom of the mountain she saw Roderyk appear from out of the undergrowth, and she went running off down the side of the mountain to catch up to him. 0nce she was out of earshot from Zafar, she couldn’t help but mess around With Roderyk’s head. “Oh Roderyk, did you really think you could get away that easily? You know you see that big, juicy, vulnerable deer in the clearing, and I know that you want to go and kill it for me so l don’t ruin my glistening coat.” She threw in an extra smile as she sat down in a patch of grass to clear away all of the dirt and stones which had gotten stuck in her paws. She had yet to see whether or not Mech had followed, and the same goes for Zafar as well. After all, his entire crew had left him wandring down the hill alone. Lf he was angry about it at all, then the anger would be directed towards Mech and Roderyk. Now that she was closer to the clearing she realized that there was not only one, but two deer in the clearing. She knew she had seen only one before. Lt puzzled her, but she just went along with it as more food. When she saw that no one was making any deliberate moves towards the deer, she got up and moved in closer on their victims. Yet, when she got closer, she could have swore she smelled a wolf that was not one of her living play things she called companions. |

Zafar came close to whacking Roderyk a good one up-side his head for his smart allecing comment about taking a different route. He huffed slightly and let out a chilled breath of carbon dioxide before moving one. As he watched with his golden eyes staring through the night, he mentally melted himself in with the shadows, thinking of nothing but darkness and the doe. That is, until Rod asked him the blatoned question of why they were hunting a pregnant doe. And why was roderyk the smart one? Zafar shook his head and spoke in such a low, incriminating manner that it was hard to hear what he was saying.

"Roderyk, who's the one who has watched this herd for a week now compared to everyone else who have been sitting on their lazy asses? I've been stalking this herd long enough to know that this is the herd leader and that she's old. Very old. This will most likely be the last calf that she has, and if I can smell correctly, it's already dead, a still born. Now do you see why we're hunting this doe? She's not going to be having anymore offspring whether we kill her or not." Zafar's thick, ebony skull turned and his lochs of darkness swayed in the motion. As soon as his harks heard the twitch of a branch, he looked into the clearing to see a second doe. Damn. This would only make things harder on them. He shot a passing glance at Rod, as if he was the cause for them missing their opportunity. It didn't matter though, for a wolf with hunger was usually a determined wolf. And Zafar was a determined wolf. He watched, waited and then, giving a signal to Mech and Rod for them to quietly skirt through the trees and fan out, coiled his muscles within his legs and waited to see some brief glimpse of the two males. Then, he gave a nod to show them that it was time and came flying out of the bushes into the clearing, running for the heavily pregnant doe. This was dinner, and the other doe, or rather wolf in doe's clothing, wasn't going to stop them no matter what she did. |
