Walking Disaster
|
"Nice weather we're having, isn't it?" the man Lily was serving, one of her usual's, also known as Roger, asked as he motioned to the pouring rain outside. Lily laughed. "Yes, it's lovely," she said honestly. Roger shook his head. "You always did like the rain, didn't ya, Miss Lily?" he asked, smiling as she handed him his coffee. "Yes, sir, always have," she replied, smiling back. "Well, I'd best be going. You have a nice day, Miss Lily," he said, tipping his hat. Lily curtsied with her apron. "And you as well," she said, waving as he opened his umbrella and stepped outside. The door swung shut and Lily started to help the next customer. "Hello, dear. How are you doing?" the woman asked, pulling out her wallet as Lily started making her decaf soy latte. "Just fine, ma'am, just fine," |

Noah walked into the coffee shop, sitting down at one of the tables by the window, looking at Lily working with the other customers. |

"Here you go, ma'am," Lily said, smiling at the latest customer. "Thank you, Lily. You stay healthy, hear?" Lily saluted. "Aye aye, captain," the woman laughed softly and patted Lily's hand. "Stay safe, dear," And with that, Lily's last customer walked out. The coffee shop was empty, save for someone sitting in the back corner. She only glanced at him before starting to wipe down the counters and cleaning out her display case. Once she was done, she lifted the partition up and walked out into the main shop area. "Excuse me, sir...I'm closing in a few...minutes...." she trailed off as she walked up to him, a wide grin spreading on her face. "Noah!" she said. |

"Haha, I am no ordinary customer you see, I come under certain permission from you, your highness." Noah got up and hugged her and ordered a coffee. "Triple expresso please," kissing her forehead. |

Lily smiled. "Coming right up," she said, drying her hands on a towel as she walked back behind the counter. She mixed together the three shots of espresso and a cup of blood. A few minutes later, she reappeared beside him with his drink in her hand. "Careful, it's hot," she warned, setting it down on the table. |

He laughed and looked down, "You know exactly how I like it." Noah got up and pulled out the other chair. "Come on, sit with me for a while," he urged her. |

Lily smiled. "I've served many a vampire," she said, half jokingly, though it was the truth. "Oh...I'd love to...but I have to finish baking the muffins for tomorrow," she apologized as she walked to the door and flipped the sign to closed. "Tell you what. Give me twenty minutes to get them in the oven, and I'll sit with you for a while. In the meantime, I'll lock the door and you can enjoy the coffee and my music," she said teasingly, smiling as she turned the lock and headed towards the back. A few minutes later, the only sound in the coffee shop was 'Our Song' by Taylor Swift. Except the only audible voice was Lily's louder than the song itself. "I don't believe in true love I am alone by nature I did not want to let you in So why does it feel so classic Like some romantic story Now that you're underneath my skin Every time I speak I speak to you Every time I reach I reach out for you baby Every time I breathe I feel your heart beating next to mine Is it real What I feel This time..." Her voice was beautiful. It was clear, and sounded like she'd practiced for years. |

Noah sat there enjoying his coffee. He listened as the music came on, listening to the lyrics, almost moved by the song. He then heard Lily's voice over the song. Noah got up, walked over to the bar, lifted the separator, and walked back to the kitchen. He saw Lily, and walked up near to her. "You're voice is amazing, absolutely beautiful." |

Lily was dancing slightly, shaking her hips as the song progressed, singing into her spoon. When she heard Noah's voice, she jumped and nearly dropped the spoon. "N-Noah!" she cried, blushing madly. "Err...thanks...I've been singing for a long time..." she explained, hurriedly pouring a pitcher of blood into the muffin mix. She stirred slowly, smiling as the next song came on. Oh well, what could it hurt? "There's a new wind blowin' like I've never known. I'm breathin' deeper than I've ever done. And it sure feels good, to finally feel the way I do. I wanna love somebody, Love somebody like you. An' I'm lettin' go of all my lonely yesterdays. I've forgiven myself for the mistakes I've made. Now there's just one thing, the only thing I wanna do, mmm, mmm. I wanna love somebody, Love somebody like you. Yeah, I wanna feel the sunshine, Shinin' down on me and you. When you put your arms around me, You let me know there's nothing in this world I can't do..." She sang softly, making sure the country music was audible over her voice as she poured the muffin batter into her giant muffin tins, each one lined with a muffin covering paper. |

Noah leaned against the counter and said to Lily, "You know, I think it is pretty amazing how you keep this place going, you are so young, yet you can manage a whole coffee shop. Oh! I'll be right back, need to grab my coffee." |

Lily giggled as he walked out. "The only reason I can keep it running is cause it's my sole source of income. Without it...I'd be living in a cave," she joked, popping the muffins in the oven as she waited for him to return. ((Hehe, thanks! I like em, too ^^ I was trying to find songs that I knew/liked that fit the mood, hence why the two were chosen :P)) |

Noah spun around, responding to Lily's remark. "I'm sure you aren't talking about me, right?" he said playfully. He then grabbed his drink from his table, took a sip, and started to walk back towards the kitchen. "So, when are those muffins going to be ready? I wouldn't mind trying one," he said, walking past the bar, his coffee in hand. |

Lily gave him a serious expression. "No, not talking about you at all," and then she dissolved into laughter. When she got herself under control, she listened to his next remark. Without speaking, she picked up the timer, which was humming softly, the marker sitting next to the number three. "Three minutes," she said without looking at it, smiling at Noah.
