Tera pulled into a space across the street from the art store and turned the key in the ignition to shut off the car. "So here we are," she said lamely, smiling as she slid out of the car. She looked back at Alex as he got out, too, her blue eyes glittering. Oh, it had been so long since she'd felt this way about anyone. And here she was, practically on a date with him. "Ready?" she asked, locking the car.

Alex walked around the front of the car and stood next to Tera. He noded and looked into the windows of the art shop. "To go art supply shopping? I'm always ready." He said chuckling. "The question is are you ready?" He asked jokingly, stepping towards the door of the shop.

Tera smiled and followed Alex. "I'm dead, Alex. I'm ready for anything," she joked, taking his hand and walking into the art shop.

Alex laughed lightly at the joke, still unused to how she casually joked about herself. He allowed himself to be dragged into the store by Tera, her touch sending a jolt through his arm from where their skin touched. He wasn't sure what to think of the feeling, though he wasn't afraid of how it felt. Once they had entered the store he stepped ahead of her, knowing where to go by heart, and began to lead her to where he needed to go.

Tera smiled and followed obediently behind him, giving his hand a gentle squeeze. I wonder if he's still afraid of me... she thought to herself, looking up at the back of his head as they walked. But her thoughts were cut off by a keen awareness of a group of girls at the end of the aisle they were walking down, all of whom were murmuring about her. She must be a vampire. Look how pretty she is. She's probably seducing him so she can kill him. I'll bet he doesn't even know it. Just like those damn leeches to steal our normal guys...can't they just date other vampire guys? they were saying. Tera felt her heart sink, and she dropped her eyes to her feet, her hand starting to slip from his. That's right...he's not my boyfriend... she thought to herself, watching her sneakers as she shuffled along behind him. Do I even stand a chance at dating him? Obviously I'm in love with him or else I wouldn't be feeling this way...but what those girls said is true...I'm a monster...and just like Kaden did, I'm bound to slip up... she looked up at Alex. He seemed to be looking around for something. That's right...if I ever get close to slipping up, I'll have to get as far away from him as possible, as fast as possible, no matter what. I won't hurt him. she thought firmly, looking back down at her feet as the girls continued their mindless chatter. If he's coming into an art store, he's probably looking for something in particular. She looks like she's just following him. We should stop them and make her give him back. Yeah, tell her to go back to the other leeches. Tera dropped her eyes even lower to hide her tears. She was stronger than them. She was, she knew it. And as such, she would not give them the satisfaction of seeing her cry.

Alex took Tera to the aisle that he knew had what he wanted. He looked through his options for a moment, looking at price and quality, before picking the one that would work best. He picked it up, feeling the un damaged covers in his hands, the heavy wait comforting to him. It was then that he realized that Tera's hand was no longer in his. He turned around abruptly, expecting to see that she had dissapeared, instead he saw that she had found great interest in her shoes. Confusioni and shock clouded his face as he moved forward, his earlier caution far from the front of his mind. "Whats the matter?" He asked her leaning down to be able to look at her face. He saw that she was close to tears. Without thinking he put his hand lightly on her upper arm, gripping it lightly.

Tera tried to hide her tears again, but she knew Alex had seen. "Nothing...nothing at all I'm fine!" she said cheerfully, smiling brightly at him. "Did you get what you wanted?" she asked, keeping the tone of her voice carefully happy as she nodded at the item in his hands. It was only then that she realized that tears were still pouring down her cheeks. The girls snickered and walked away, staying in their group. Tera turned around, breaking free of Alex's grip easily. "I'll meet you outside, okay?" she said softly as she stared at the other end of the aisle. The door was just to the right of there. She didn't wait for an answer, starting off down the aisle at a brisk walk. "Don't worry, I'll actually be there!" she called to him cheerfully as she lifted a hand and disappeared out the front door with a gentle ring of the bell hanging above the door.

Alex stood still where he was for a long moment, even more confused and shocked then he had been before. Shaking his head slowly he walked toward the register, the sketch pad held loosly in his hands now. As he reached the register he looked out the shop window and saw that Tera was there, satisfied he turned around. He waited patiently in line behind a group of girls who were buying several tubes of oil paint and a few brushes. Even though he was lost in thought he noticed that everynow and then one of the girls would turn around and sneak a glance at him, it was a different girl each time. The look in their eyes only added to his confusion.
Finally the girls payed for what they had bought and headed towards the door. He moved up to the register and smiled at the guy who was working there. He placed the sketch pad on the counter and waited for the guy to ring it up. As he waited he watched Tera through the window and could see the group of girls exiting the store out of the corner of his eye.

Tera had leaned against the window, crossing her ankles as she stood and looked up at the sky. When she heard the bell on the door tinkle lightly, she knew immediately it was not Alex. "Hey, leech," one girl, the apparent leader, said acidly. Tera turned her face very slowly to look at them. She'd managed to dry her tears, and her face now held a very calm expression. "Yes, can I help you?" she asked in a bored-sounding tone. "Yeah, you actually can. You know that boy you were with?" the leader girl asked again. Tera's eyes flicked back inside, to where Alex stood at the register, facing away. "Yes, I do. What about him?" she asked, returning her eyes to the girls. "You need to ditch him. Now. See, either you get in your fancy car, leave this place, and never come back, or we'll take him out when you least expect it," the girl replied. Tera's eyes flickered with fear, just for a split second, before returning to looking bored. "I'm not dating him, if that's what you're getting at. Any one of you is welcome to him," she said, returning her eyes to the sky as she lied. "Oh, really now? Well then, you won't mind if I go back in there and tell him you left, will you?" the leader girl tested. Tera lowered her eyes very slowly. "I'm sorry? I couldn't hear you over the sound of your heart beating," she said. The girl flushed bright red. "Look, leech, just leave now," this was a new voice, one Tera hadn't been expecting. She whirled on the boy behind her, pinning him against the window with one arm against his throat. Her eyes narrowed. "I'm not going anywhere. What do you want with him, anyways? He's just a human. He's nothing special," she said calmly. The boy threw her off and kicked her to the ground, pinning her down with his foot. He smirked. "Oh, but we both know that's not true. He's your singer...and my dinner," the vampire boy said softly. The girls had disappeared in the commotion, and Tera was grateful for that as she flipped and flung the boy off of her. She growled angrily. "Don't go near my human. He was mine first," she threatened. The vampire boy merely smirked. "Admit it, Tera. You can't stop us. We're ten times stronger than you," he kicked her stomach, sending her flying into a nearby alley. Then he appeared beside her, pinning her down with his foot again. "You stay out of this, Quincy," she growled, flipping over and pinning him against the wall once more. "You wouldn't dare defy ME, would you, Tera? After all I've done for you?" he asked, letting her pin him for once. Tera's eyes narrowed again.

"I will defy anyone and everyone I need to in order to protect him,"

The guy rang up his sketch pad and looked at Alex with a bored stare. Alex smiled faintly and looked at the amount due on the screen. He pulled out a wad of bills and gave him the exact amount, pulling a few coins out of his pocket as well. The guy bagged his purchase and handed it to Alex quickly. Once Alex had taken the bag the guy turned from him and headed towards a door that had 'Employees only' written in yellow across it. He chuckled and walked towards the exit, looking out the window. Tera no longer stood there and the group of girls was gone as well. His brow furrowed and his lips pulled down in a frown as he stepped outside and looked around, not seeing Tera anywhere. What is going on? He thought to himself, looking around once again. He saw that Tera's car was still there so she couldn't have gone off somewhere very far. He sighed and walked over to the brick wall of the art store, leaning against it while holding his bag. He guessed that she must have gone into another store for something and decided to wait for her.

"You'd even give your life? Tera, my love, I don't believe you know the bargain you've just made," Quincy said. Tera growled and pressed her arm against his neck, choking him slightly. "Quincy, you stay out of this! If you want to mess with someone, go find a human girl to torture. I don't want any part of your nasty little schemes," she said. Ttoo late for that one," Quincy growled, spinning and snapping Tera's arm in two. She cried out and jumped backwards, setting the bones back the way they were supposed to be. Still, she had lost use of that arm. "Quincy, I warned you," she growled and leapt at him, clawing at his throat and chest while her fangs extended. Quincy dodged most of her attacks, but she finally caught him perfectly, tearing a huge hole in his neck. He roared in pain and Tera leapt backwards before he could grab her. "Tera, I'm warning you," his eyes glowed blood red as he started towards her. Tera cradled her arm against her chest, watching him with a cold stare. "And I'm warning you. YOU STAY AWAY FROM ALEX!" she cried, leaping at him with both hands of claws and her fangs extended. She tore at his arms and chest, dragging her teeth along his shoulder. He roared again and shoved her away, leaving long gashes down her sides. She winced, but started towards him again. "You may have gotten to Kaden, and you may have killed our parents, but you will never, ever, get to me," she said in a low voice. Quincy smirked. "I'll get to you someday, Tera. I know the savage is there inside you. You just have to let it out," and then he leapt backwards and disappeared. Tera dropped to her knees, her good arm going around her waist as if to hold the blood in. "Damnit..." she growled, pulling a splint and some gauze from her purse. "He still knows my weak point..." she placed her hand over the broken bones on her arm and popped them back to hold them together before pulling on the splint. Then she tore off her shirt and wrapped her entire stomach. Finally, she pulled out a clean shirt, tossed her old shirt in the garbage, and headed back towards the art store.

Alex looked over at a darkened alley when he heard screaming. He straightened at what sounded like his name and took a step forward. He wasn't sure what was going on and he wasn't sure whether he wanted to know, but he felt compelled to walk towards the alley. Once he had reached the middle of the street Tera walked out from where he was headed. Confusion was clear on his face as he stopped walking. Her shirt had changed and her arm was held at a wierd angle. He continued to stand there until a car honked angrily at him. He looked over at who it was, and seeing that it was an old woman in a pickup, glaring at him, he moved to the side of the street where Tera stood. "Are you alright?" He asked again, more confused as ever.

Tera looked away, slipping her arm behind her back to hide the splint. "I'm fine. I just...got into a little fight," she mumbled. "So are you ready for dinner?" she asked, smiling brightly at him.

"A fight?" He asked, still unsure. He waited for an answer while ignoring her question. It was then, as he was standing there, that he realized he really didn't have the right to pry. But he pushed it from his mind, deciding that the last fifteen minutes had been to wierd.

Tera looked everywhere but at Alex, until finally her eyes fell on his. "Yes, I..." she trailed off and sighed. "I got in a fight with the head vampire of our clan, the one that turned me and my brother. He sort of...follows us from place to place...and he's been madly in love with me since he first turned me..." she explained, letting her broken arm fall at her side. "He's vicious...cruel...ruthless...the worst possible creature I can ever imagine existing on this planet," she spat angrily. "And he...he wanted you, Alex...he wanted to kill you, so he could have me...so I fought him..." she added softly, staring down at the splint on her arm. "I'm not going to give you up that easily...no way in heaven, hell, or beyond. Because I...I..." she slowly raised her eyes to his. "I think there's a very good chance that I might be falling in love with you..." she said softly.
