Alex stood still, looking down at Tera, though not really seein her. He was on the verge of laughing, of loosing it. He couldn't quite grasp what she had just said. It was hard to wrap his mind around the fact that this innocently cloudy day had turned into the day where he was going to most likely be killed. He couldn't beleive the fact that there was a murderous vampire after him, it had to all be a joke. He had heard stories, but never actually seen it happen, ever believed fully. "Well then." He said straightening up. He grabbed Tera's uninjured hand and started off to the restaurant that was a block away from where they were.

Tera blinked, stumbling after him. Slowly, she caught up and managed to match pace with him. "Alex? Are you okay?" she asked worriedly. His heart rate had sped up, and he seemed on the verge of losing it. "Alex?" she asked again when he didn't reply. Gently, she tugged him to a stop and spun him around to face her. "I won't let them get near you, don't worry," she assured him in a soft voice, looking deep into his eyes.

Alex didn't reply when she asked him questions, not wanting to stop and talk. He was thinking through things quickly in his head and hardly heard her talking. He was forced to stop walking when she spun him around, her strength too much for him to resist. He nodded at her assurance but still didn't speak. He looked down at her, staring into her eyes. "It's all sinking in, the fact that this is all real." He finally said in a husky whisper. "I think I need food." He told her and turned to pull her once again towards the restaurant.

Tera stumbled after him once again, falling silent. She should've just stayed home...she shouldn't have offered him a ride...she should've just told Quincy to kill her instead of turn her! Tears leaked out of her eyes and down her cheeks as she thought of all the things she should've done, but hadn't. Now Alex was in danger...and with her luck, Quincy would find them before the evening was up. She was silent as she cried, unable to speak or even sob. She didn't know what to say. She was in love with him, and now he would be gone forever. There had to be something she could do...obviously turning him was out of the question, as it would take too long, but wasn't there something else she could do? She fought to think of something--anything--else she could do to protect him.

Alex pushed the door open and walked inside. The place was almost completely empty and for that he was glad. He looked around for the perfect spot to sit. He headed for a spot in the back, slowing down now, finding a slight bit of comfort now that they were inside. He slid into a both and looked over at Tera. "Will he come after just me or will my family become involved?" He asked quietly. This question would help him make his decision of whether to stay or leave.

Tera shook her head as she sank into the seat across from him. She needed to get away from him, and soon. Tonight would be the last night. "I...most likely just you..." she managed softly. "And I know what you're thinking...if you leave, I...I'll send Kaden with you. I'll stay and make sure Quincy doesn't go after anyone else, and make sure he stays here," she said, looking behind Alex and out the window at the front of the restaurant. "No...you're probably no safer with Kaden than you are with Quincy, if he loses control again..." she murmured, thinking. "I'm going to find Quincy. And kill him," she said firmly, looking anywhere but at Alex. "And I won't rest until he's dead," she knew how meaningless that sounded, coming from someone who could only rest when she was injured. Speaking of which... She yawned, and let her head fall on top of her arms on the table. Her eyes drooped closed. "I won't let him touch you..." she murmured, forcing herself to stay conscious, despite her closed eyes.

Alex shook his head, leaning against the back of the booth, though his shoulers were still tense. "I have to go somewhere. I can't stay with my family." He stated, knowing that he would just be asking for their deaths if he stayed in the house. "There has to be somewhere that I can go, someone who can go with me if you don't want to." He said, watching as she layed her head on the table. "I thought vampires couldn't sleep." He stated, a bit irritated that she could find time to sleep now. The shock had worn off and now he was planning, thoughts running through his head quickly, ways of how he could escape without leaving his mother and brother in danger. Though he was afraid that it was already too late.

Tera's head shot up at his second comment. She'd been nearly asleep... "N-No, of course we can't sleep," she started. "Except when we're wounded badly..." she added softly. "But like I said, I'm not going to sleep. Not until Quincy is--" she stopped abruptly, lifting her nose in the air and sniffing slightly. She was out of her seat in an instant, her eyes narrowed at the window as she placed herself between Alex and whatever was out there. "Wait here...and whatever you do, stay calm," she took a step towards the door and paused, debating for less than a second before turning around and catching Alex's lips against hers. She held him there for a few seconds, her hair fluttering around their faces as it landed back in place, before pulling back to look him in the eyes. "No matter what happens...I love you," and then she was gone, leaving behind a light breeze and a scent of flowers.

For the second time this afternoon Alex was left in shock, though two totally different kinds. The first had been in horror, this time it was pure shock and confusion. He could still feel her lips on his, the touch of her skin sending a zap through him. He sat for a moment before standing from where he had been sitting. The waiter had been on his way over to take their orders, as Alex stood up he looked at him in confusion and irritation. Alex gave him an aplogetic smile before walking to the door.

Tera ran across the street, into a back alley. She could smell Quincy following her, and he meant business this time. "QUINCY!" she screamed as she leapt on top of a building. "Yes, my dear?" she spun, dropping lower into her defense position as a low growl escaped her lips. "You," she hissed. "You dare to come after me? After all you've 'done for me'? You dare push me past my limit?" she growled, low and angry. "Limit? There is no limit, dearest. There is only you, and me, and your little boyfriend down there watching," he pointed to the restaurant across the street, and Tera followed his finger. A soft gasp escaped her lips. "Alex..." she breathed. "Oh so that's the mysterious Knight in shining armor, eh? Well, Tera, I'll tell you this. I haven't come to kill you, or even him. We've gotten what we needed, and we'll be on our way now," he flipped his hand in the air and two vampires appeared, one on either side of him. One held a boy she automatically knew was Alex's twin brother, completely unconscious. The other held Kaden, who struggled and growled against his captors grip. "Kaden!" Tera cried, jumping towards him. But Quincy appeared in front of her, catching her in his arms. "Now, now, Tera. Don't be hasty. Kaden wanted to come with us, didn't you, child?" Quincy and Tera both turned to Kaden, who snarled viciously. Tera gasped as she saw his blood red eyes. "Quincy...how could you...why Kaden? Why me?" she asked, looking up at him as tears threatened her beautiful blue eyes. Quincy smirked, throwing her across the rooftop. She was so shocked and exhausted that she couldn't even catch herself. She merely fell onto the cement roof, letting it slice against her arms. "Why you? Because, my dear Tera, you never listened to me. I warned you, many a time, that if you didn't listen to every word I said, I would take your darling dearest brother from you. I nearly let him die that time, didn't I? I could've said no, but you begged me. You got down on your hands and knees and begged me to save his life. I did you a favor then, and you've never paid me back. So now I'm making you pay me back, with interest. Kaden is payment for that day. As for the human boy? He's forfeit for not listening to me," he flipped his hand again, and the other vampires disappeared as Tera stood shakily. "Quincy...don't do this...we don't need anymore monsters in this world! You know that as well as I do!" she cried, tears streaming down her cheeks as she took one cautious step towards him. "Ah, but you forget, dear Tera. We are not monsters. The humans who slay us, and prevent us from eating...they are the monsters. Farewell, my dear. Farewell forever," and then he picked her up and hurled her off the roof and into the street. Tera tried to spin in the air and land on her feet, but she was so weak...so tired...the world seemed to spin around her as she fell, and crashed into the asphalt with a sickening crack of her shoulder and back. She heard the cars coming, but she couldn't move. Her entire body ached...she'd hurt Alex beyond all reason...and now her last living family member was gone forever. She tried to curl up into a ball, but found she couldn't even do that, shrieking in pain as her spine poked through the skin. She felt the tears on her cheeks, but she was so blinded by pain now...she was certain she was going to die... So she lay on her side with her eyes closed, her body half folded as she sobbed quietly and prayed for death to come.

Alex had exited the restaurant, looking up and down the street in the slight hope that Tera would be there. He let out a sigh as what he knew was confirmed. The street was empty of anyone and everything except the few cars that drove by. He was just planning the best way to walk home when he heard a sickening thud behind him, something big and heavy colliding with the pavement. He turned slowly, unsure whether he wanted to know, if it was best to just walk away. His eyes opened wide in horror as he recognized the long curly brown hair that covered the face, the shirt he had just mentioned a few minutes ago. He stood frozen in place, slowly wrapping his mind around the situation. Within seconds he had rushed forward, ignoring the cars that were already screeching to a halt, worried people stepping from there warm and safe cars. Tera let out a horrible scream and Alex flinched, the sound painfull to his ears. He bent over her as she rolled to her side. He caught sight of her back, something was causing the back of her shirt to protrude in and unatural way. He took in a deep breath of cold air as he carefully peeled back her shirt, revealing the bone that stuck straight through the skin. His breath came out in a great gush, his face going instantly pale, contorted in horror. He quickly leaned farther over her, brushing the hair from her face. "Shh. It'll be okay." He whispered in her ear, knowing that it wasn't completely true and that she was in too much pain to hear him. He looked up at some of the faces that were crowded around him and Tera. "Would somebody call for help please?!" He shouted in panic. Some of the people pulled out cell phones and dialed a number before putting the phone to their ear, others stood at the edge of the small group of people, muttering to themselves and each other, their words too quiet to hear, but their faces showed it all. Ignoring them he looked back down, wondering what he could do to help.

Tera gritted her teeth, hands clenching into tight fists as she tried to ignore the pain. She heard a voice near her ear, and thought for sure she was dying. "An angel..." she gasped. "I'm going to die..." she opened her eyes, but found she saw only blurry shapes. Still, even in the amount of pain she was in, her nose picked up a scent. It smelled heavenly...and she was certain she was dying. She heard sirens in the distance, and wondered what they'd make of her. A vampire with a broken spine, shoulder, arm, and wrist and unknown wounding all over her body. "Oh lord...please help me...I don't want to die..." she cried softly, shaking from both fear and pain.

"Shh." Alex whispered again in her ear as the sound of sirens could just be heard. He was frightened at what she was saying, firghtened that she might actually be right. "Your going to be fine." He said again, believing it more this time. He was relieved at the speed from which they were arriving. His hand hovered over her body, not wanting to touch her because it would cause more pain, but wanting to comfort her at the same time. Instead he continued to whisper comfortingly in her ear, hoping that in some way it helped. He felt hands on him as the sirens became defeaning and then quickly everything was silent. He looked up to see a man who looked to be from the ambulence. The man was speaking, but Alex couldn't hear any of it. Finally he guessed what the man must be asking. "Sh-she fell... Fell from the bu-building." He tried to explain, stumbleing his way through the words. He moved aside so that the man could see Tera's back, placing his hand lightly on her brown hair, leaning down so that his lips brushed her cheek. "Your going to be fine." He whispered again. His voice thick from the tears that fought their way up through his throat and from his eyes.

The men from the ambulance apparently realized that they couldn't move her without causing more damage, because they started working on her right there. They injected a vial of morphine into her spine, and a few seconds later, they were popping the broken bones back into place. Tera heard someone scream, and she was just barely able to recognize it as her own scream before the morphine took over. Finally, they loaded her into the ambulance and proceeded to remove her clothes, covering her in a sheet. She was dazed and loopy from the morphine, but she still managed to scream out. "NO! ALEX! LET HIM COME!" she sobbed, not even sure if it had been him by her ear, but knowing that whoever it was, she wanted to be beside her.

Alex flinched as Tera screamed out in pain. He ran his hand lightly across her forhead, rubbing his thumb across her cheek. When Tera was put onto a stretcher he stood beside her, still as close to her as he could get. He watched anxiously as she was loaded into the ambulence, climbing in behind the men who were beginning to work on her. The morphine hadn't fully taken affect and he rubbed her forhead lightly again as she screamed. He leaned closer, whispering. "Let who come?"
