I know a lot of ya'll hate on every new dance that comes out, but this situation is FUCKED up.
In Austin, there's a click of rappers called Gutta Gang. The main rapper and producer of the click is my boy Casino. About 2 years ago, he produced a track called "Game Time". It was a crunk ass song, and they made it their single. It blew up locally. It was all over the radio and they shot a video for it. It was gettin' major rotation all over the state, and in other markets.
One of the lines of the song was "Heisman a hoe, we gon' heisman a hoe", and on stage, everyone in the group would do a dance move that imitated the heisman trophy.
They've been on the grind HARD with this track for 2 long years, traveling all over the US promoting the single. Then, all the sudden, early this year out of nowhere this group from Atlanta puts this video on myspace:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=heaNukZkEMgThey completely stole the whole concept of the song, and the dance move. And what's worse is that they are getting MAJOR exposure out of it. The dance blew up in Georgia and Alabama, and many other cities all over the South. It's everywhere. Youtube is full of videos of random people doin' the dance. There's remixes of the song. More than one college marching band has done the "heizman" in their routines already.
Here's a message that my boy Casino put on myspace this week, that kind of explains it better:
Like I said, I realize that most of ya'll could give a shit about a cheesy dance craze, and probably don't care who invented it, but the fact is that these boys here in Austin put in HARD WORK creating a marketable single and dance, and I can tell you first-hand that they are some of the hardest working artists in Texas when it comes to stage shows. They care about their craft, and they put a lot of time and energy into making this dance/single something that could have got them a record deal. They put a lot of money into it. Now, these dudes in Atlanta are gettin' so much attention from their knock-off song, it looks as if they might get a major record deal soon. When that happens, there's nothing Casino will be able to do..............if he speaks out, it'll just look like he's lying. If he continues to promote his original song, he'll look like a biter. The whole situation pisses me off, how some people can just come outta nowhere and steal your livelihood. 2 years worth of promotion and hard work down the drain.
The only reason I'm postin' this up here is that if you haven't heard of this dance, you will soon. Trust me. It's not nationwide yet, but it will be. Casino and Gutta Gang are good people, and they always support SouthBound, so I'm just lettin' it be known BEFORE it gets too big.
