In the upcoming edition of Entertainment Weekly, Def Jam President Jay-Z will finally break his silence about his new album. In the cover story titled “Jay-Z Returns,” the Brooklyn rapper-turned-exec gives details about coming back to music after retiring three years ago. “It was the worst retirement, maybe, in history,” Jay tells EW. “I believed it for two years.” Jay’s new album Kingdom Come, rumored to be in stores this November, will feature production from Dr. Dre, Timbaland, Kanye West and Coldplay’s Chris Martin. Entertainment Weekly’s Fall Music Preview issue will hit stands on Friday, September 15 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I've been saying he was coming back ever since he retired, it was too obvious, DMX and Jay both retired at the same time, and i knew they would both come back.... as usual Jay is getting in all of the biggest names of the moment though to produce :rolleyes: |

Gary Gray treatment. With recent sales disappointments and rumors of rappers plotting exits, Def Jam honcho Jay-Z appears ready to take the bottom line of his label into his own hands. The rapper-turned-mogul, who said he was retiring from the rap game with 2003's The Black Album, is set to deliver his long-rumored "comeback" album, according to several media reports. Jay-Z revealed details of the album, dubbed Kingdom Come, in a cover story in Entertainment Weekly which hits newsstands Friday. "It was the worst retirement, maybe, in history," Jay tells EW. "I believed it for two years." The album will reportedly hit stores November 14 and will feature production from Kanye West, Dr. Dre, Pharrell Williams, Timbaland, and Coldplay's Chris Martin. West will be featured on the album, as will Jay-Z's girlfriend Beyonce. Nas, the veteran Queens rapper with whom Jay-Z struck a much-publicized truce by signing him to Def Jam in January, is also set to appear on the album. Nas plans to release his first Def Jam album, Hip-Hop Is Dead, on November 21. The release of Kingdom Come will be preceded by the single "Show Me What You Got," for which the video will be directed by F. Gary Gray, the acclaimed music video director who has gone on to direct feature films like Friday, Be Cool, and The Italian Job.
