Basic character creation has not changed much from the core MET (5/4/3 for attributes, 11/7/4 for skills), with a few exceptions. The "occult" skill has been changed to "High Tech". Various merits will be unavailable. A list of available merits will be posted at some point. The various supernatural powers have been changed to AIs. These represent any personal AIs you have to aid in various activities. You will get one "strong" AI depending on the faction you choose. This costs the least XP (5xp/level, like an in-clan discipline) and can be bought up to 5. You get a choice of "Weak" AI (chosen at startup), which costs slightly more (6xp/level) and can be bought up to 4. Any other AIs can be bought as "Outside" AIs, costing 7xp/level (as out-of-clan disciplines) and can only be bought up to 3. We have written various "perks". A perk is a linked advantage and disadvantage. You may choose up to two perks when you create your character. Edit: Occult changed to High Tech |

Don't forget that survival has been changed to "space survival" It's a skill that helps you wear space suits, use emergency survival gear on asteroids and you'll need it at a high level if you want to start converting an asteroid into a habitat (that and a boatload of resources, allies, spaceships etc etc) There are also two other AI's you forgot to mention. Scientific AI. 1. monitors scientific experiments, makes sure they don’t fail. 2. complex equations- add AI bonus to science+int resolutions. 3. original data collection +meta data. Can count as retainer who can do research during downtime. 4. Aids in designing templates. adds in AI bonus to designing resolution. and the covert AI which i forgot the functions for... Edit for more specific powers. |

Perks Perks combine a bonus and a related penalty. Two perks can be taken at startup. Contracted: You have a contract with a wealthy party and purchase an expensive piece of equipment for you and in return take a cut of your profits. Indentured: You are owned by someone. Their training gives you 2 free dots in skills but you must follow their orders or become an outlaw. Web adept: You may choose to gain '9 again' when using the web, but in order to do so you must focus entirely on the virtual world. Your physical body is left effectively comatose in the real world. Low-G worlder: You can buy dexterity up to 6 but strength is capped at 4. High-G worlder: You can buy strength up to 6 but dexterity is capped at 4. Active military: You gain training (2 dots to place in relevant skills) and limited access to military hardware, but You must follow orders from military superiors. Ex military: +2 to relevant skills, no access to military hardware or compunction to follow orders but gain a permanent -1 to stat of your choice to represent the rigours of military service. Familiar tech: You have a special affinity to technology that you or a mentor or student creates, whenever you use it you gain +1 to use the equipment. You suffer a minus 1 penalty whenever you use somebody else’s machines. Good natured: You gain 9 again in social situations, but all combat skills are capped at 3. If you are not seen as good natured during a game you lose the perk. Skilled trader: You can add in a social skill (chosen at startup) to add to trading resolutions. Whenever you use this you lose on a draw of a natural 2. |

To be more specific about occult-> science...it is now more like...advanced science, stuff like high level physics, as well as alien and posthuman studies. You know, stuff that just seems occult but has a perfectly scientific explanation. Some former human societies have become posthuman by uploading themselves into fast running computers and then "going strange", which is just the colloqial term. Humans have come across various peices of long gone alien civilisations, most notably at Helion. It is part of the UHS charter to learn more from and protect alien ruins. The prevailing theory in physics at this time has a 16 dimensions in it which is what allows the anti gravity drive. Needless to say its pretty weird stuff. |
