I think that we are in no way obliged to go to church, it's more of an extra carricular (sp?) activity, if you will. I used to go to the Church of Ireland and then my brother moved to Emmanuel in Lurgan and I had heard him talk about "getting something out of church." Now for the life of me I didn't know what he meant until I started going to Emmanuel. Before church had been a routine if you like and it wasn't really motivating me or bringing me into the prescence of God. Everytime I go to Emmanuel I can feel God's prescence and I am filled with a weird and brilliant passion for God, much like the SU weekend and at 20:20 too. I believe this is the reason to go to church. We should be hungry for contact with God and you must find a church which provides you with this and a desire to go and live for him in order for it to truely be worthwhile.

Disclaimer: This is in no way degrading the Church of ireland it is just personal feelings and I know others may get a brilliant desire for God in the CoI or one of many churches out there.

im wary of churchs that give you a kinda "buzz" though. you need a church who will make you grow, not make you hyper and put you up on a high for God really quickly.. it just makes it so easier to fall! you need built up step by step, in a church that you enjoy going to, you want to be there and hear more about God and the praise reaches you...hence the so many different types :)

i suppose goin 2 church as much as we can is 1 of the challenges God sets us - no matter how borin or inerestin, its the content that matters
