and theres so many parents out there who are parents as teens or they were brought up with no limits and no discipline so it will just go down from generation to generation til we live in an underworld society! there should really be parenting classes and an encouragement not to have kids unless you can really look after them!

like i am quite happy never to have children.. i think its just this society thing that to be happy and be married and make your life complete you have to have kids and i dont think it is! like i know i am too selfish and want to travel and be free from wondering whos going to look after them, what school, what are they gonna eat... etc.. my cars shall be my babies! :D

Alibi I am the complete opposite, this is going to sound soo old but, one of my main aims in life is to be a good wife and mother, children are really important to me!!

here's a quote from an author called Lynn Austin if you don't know how to be a parent 'treat your children how you would have liked to be treated, if you wished your parents had tucked you in at night then tuck in your child, if you wish that your parents had read to you then read to your children.' I thought that this was so true, but disipline is part of a parents job and it is also in the best interest of the child there is a verse in proverds that says that to save achild you must disipline it.

mmhmmm i agree totally.. treat the kids the way you wanted to be treataed.. apart from in discipline.. nobody wants to be disciplined but it is something that has to be done! i think so many parents are so scared to say boo to their kids incase they cry, and its not hurting the child... its actually benefitting the kid to be told off!

i saw a lady in matalan today and she was telling her kid off for kicking the lift and the kid actually squared up to her and said "go on mom... hit me... oooh you cant!!" oh my word!! little brat!!

If that child was mine.... oh well they aren't lol. Thats another thing I don't see anything wrong with smacking a child if they are really bad, it didn't do me any harm!! Also puting a child on a 'naughty mat night work when they are 4 but not 10!

lol! i dont suppose youve watched super nanny or house of tiny tearaways have you?
i dont think theres anything wrong with it, as long as it is a tap.. sometimes kids just need to be snapped into concentrating when theyre arsing about! the whole whacking kids and smacking them about thing is terrible, but thats bringing it to the extremes!

Yep have watched super nanny and have to say have borrowed some of her ideas when I'm baby sitting such as putting kids to bed and then not giving any contact, with Kids its a test to see who will cave first if you don't give them attention they will get boared and stop getting out of bed - clever really, however when if comes to telling them off if you do nothing they won't understand that what they are doing is wrong!

im just after watchin supernanny. she does work wonders but 1 crucial thing she (and sadly mostly of society) misses is bringing your children up with good morals ie. Christianity - that means theyve got no1 2 turn 2 when times get difficult and when they r on their own.

im almost supportive of the "children should be seen but not heard" approach. yes, it is good that children have their say, but now its swung 2 the other extreme - all about children. today's children certainly r not taught either responsibilities or respect
also, whats happened 2 respect for the elderly - they used to be the most respected and revered members of the family - now most of them just end up in a care home, having 2 sell their own homes etc. thats dreadful about that poor 84 year old man gettin attacked in waringstown isnt it. its just sad and a few of the elderly at my congregation have had 2 face armed burglars!!! arrrrrrrrrgh it makes me so angry!!!!!!!!!!

phew, calm down, calm down.
