Have to say that I agree with you Huggy I don't have a proble with listening to non-christian music and my raido is constantly on.

However I still wouldn't go down the satanic route even if you do like the music, you should try Kutless they are a christian band, they would be heavier than 'noral christian bands such as blue tree etc but not all that heavy (they are the heaviest christian band that I have come accross.

And if anyone likes kinda afro funk/ rnb music chech out the Four Kornerz they are amazing - Lov em to bits, check out http://www.fourkornerz.com/

Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't it say in the Bible somewhere that our songs should be praised onto God (or something similar?). This may be a sour grape to swallow but I think listening to bands sich as disturbed may sound good but would God be proud of you listening to non christian/Satanic music. Of course you may say you don't listen to the lyrics but will that not encourage the deamons fighting in your head to bring back later on, some of the lyrics in your mind, and then you find yourself singing them to! Lyrics to music is like Peanut butter to Jam (Yum!!) you cant really take in one without the other along with it :)

Like I said you really have to dig through the christian artists to get some real gems. I've noticed that over the years some 'christian' artists will have ultra heavy rock but have no 'quiet-time' songs. If this is the case with an artist they have either not recorded any or there is something badly wrong...

Kutless seem really good Naomi.. I've heard of them before but never got around to hearing some of their songs. Nice worship songs too but is it my speakers or is some of their heavy music badly mixed/mastered? Their Drums and guitars seem to be at higher volume than the vocals... Or maybe it's my speakers?

I know that there are a lot of really good musicians out there who aren't Christians (which is a shame really when the greatest purpose their God-given talent could have is to praise Him for it.) It seems a lot of popular music now worships people or worldly things.

I just think we need to be really careful in everything we do, say (or listen to). Maybe we need to pray that Christian artists will have a stronger voice in this world, and that more Christians will channel their talents into creating worship music which really praises God - that's the whole point at the end of the day! :D

Btw, has anyone heard Chris Tomlin live? That guy is amazing, and his band's really cool too! My parents and my sister managed to see him in Belfast last year with Matt Redman, but we didn't manage to make it to his own concert this year ( night before my AS results!) :(

Have to say I don't think that Ive ever seen Chris Tomlin in concert but I have seen Michael W smith in concert in the Od. and he was absolutly amazing!!!

Great point about What would God think Jonny!! Loads of people, myself included, wear the WWJD bands, but how often do we actually stop and think Would Jesus do what I'm doing?

*throws heat-seeking revolving mallet* (boy we have a thing for action quotes today :) )

Quote:

The 'prayer' in that song is the chorus I take it?:

Livin just isn't hard enough
Burn me alive, inside
Livin my life's not hard enough
Take everything away

Another nightmare about to come true
Will manifest tomorrow
Another love that I've taken from you
Lost in time, on the edge of suffering
Another taste of the evil I breed
Will level you completely
Bring to life everything that you fear
Live in the dark, and the world is threatening

Let me enlighten you
This is the way i pray

This bit:
Burn me alive, inside
Livin just isn't hard enough
Livin my life's not hard enough
Take everything away
...sounds like a prayer of someone with a broken heart..
satan can talk/pray to God too you know..
which brings me to my afore said comment

ummm.... *hides crumpled up cookie packet...* um... i have some minstrels if theyd help! see now children we should learn here that we shouldnt buy acme heat-seeking revolving mallets... we should go all out and buy a bazooka instead! much more reliable!

ums...i looked up the lyrics and stuff and i dont think those lyrics are meant in a bad way.. the song was written by the dude to God after his grandfather died.. i think it highlights more that he is quite lost and confused! if you believe what most fans say about him being brought up in a very strict jewish home then that may have something to do with those feelings.. because what if youre forced to believe something you know is true but because you are forced you want to rebel against it? what happens after you rebel...you gotta choose where to stand.... thats just my take on the lyrics though :)

*munches some minstrels*

*waves at alibi pretends to have sore teeth*
ooo aaaow...... must...have...minstrels...to...sooth...aching ...teeth ^_^
I must concurr though.. I believe that acme make far better beatupBrowncoat gadgets than that silly european company that builds bazookas for the US army... pfft.. the US army couldn't blow up a baloon with those silly 'toys' :D

hmm... now there's a different side to it.. Seems to make make sense, not that I like their style though.. pity you need to look up the lyrics to fully get the words of their songs though...

mmhmmm but welcome to the world of metal my dear! sometimes i wish there was a byline with lyrics and the writer would actually tell you what they were writing about! the stereophonics did that once and it was class!

hmmm...minstrels to help sore teeth you say? ok i buy that one *passes bag* :)
oh im so tired from sitting working at a computer! its putting my head away! :(

*takes a few minstrels- bites gently with side of mouth*
ahh... thats better. :)

I suppose thats true with alot of 'heavy' styles. it's a pity we can't find out what alot of those songs really mean.. maybe then we could really understand why some people are hurting inside.. and as a result have to release their emotions through songs of anger and/or sorrow.. *shakes himself* but you cant let these things depress you mind! ;)
