(clicky: here)

Woohoo! I'm a director now on youtube :)
Two of my most recent stop animations for my Art coursework (Themed Household disasters.. as in dangerous things happening in the home). But go easy on me, they're only experiments...

emm if you dont know what stop motion animation is it sort of goes like the wallace and gromit movies: move arm a few mm - take picture - move arm more - take picture x 27,000 for a 2minute movie! (length I'm hoping my final peice to be! A household safety movie for little children.)
One is a character experiment (chip and pinky) with modelling clay and the other one is a set(kitchen)/character setup with lego (read the description before you watch!)
I think I'll stick to lego though, I think it looks far cleaner and slightly more 'lifelike' (if you can make sense of that) than the slightly 'rough' clay animations.
Right now, I'm a bit ahead in where I should be in my coursework but I'm starting to think wether I can pull the 1-2 minute final movie off in time

Sooo.. what do you's think?

My favourite legomation so far: Meatspace episode 5. created by blunty3000 and even made it to australian TV!! Hillarious :D

Thanks guys! Pinky is the steez!! But unfortunately he passed away not so long ago due to his extreme injuries (did you see that fall!!!!) and had to be redesigned by his creator... he is now a yellerish sort of character... his green remains did go to good use though.

Another character was created from his remains to hold a carrot for me :D
Posted Image

this little green carrot holder guy quickly found a friend (THEmat was his name)...
Posted Image

but things quickly became ugly and one of my newest characters (made from my new moddeling clay) was brutally attacked by this said carrot...
Posted Image

a second new guy (the victim's friend) quickly came over to see if he was alright (you can see the new pinky in the background with chip in his new chair!!)...
Posted Image

The victim's friend tryed to comfort him as best he could but the damage was already done...
Posted Image

but eventually the victim (who's name hasn't yet been thought of... any ideas?) removed the carrot using his own man power. A gaping hole was left but he will survive (and he has taken a sudden liking to chip's burger!! All was forgiven and they eventually all got together for a sing song...
Posted Image

(I did a wee quick animation last week with my new clay, the victim (& the evil carrot), THEmat and the new pinky but I did it at late at night (bad idea I know) and it isn't exactly as smooth as I would have liked it, prob not worth showing you's, unless you where completely exhillarated by my wee story!!)

::THE END::

Boy I gotta keep away from this clay stuff... I'm going crazy
I'm an animator and a story teller... ahhh... so men can multi-task!!
Now I'm off to bed :)

Cedric... hmm.. thats a spiffing name Huggy :)

In general it takes around 4-8 hours just to shoot 1minute's worth of animation. Then theres video rendering, audio and video editing after that (the hardest part) which takes a few more hours after that.

The lego (kitchen) animation took me a 3/4 to a full day to do (set building, shooting, rendering and editing included). Would you be interested in trying one are you Huggy? Stop motion animation is one of those things that are easy to grasp but takes loads of practise and LOADS of patience to get the final video to look good and smooth.

My art teacher says I could walk into an a-level motion graphics course at the level I'm at now but photography is currently taking more of a priority over animations at the moment :) I don't know what I'm going to do next year, I'm dreading the withdrawal symptoms already :P

lol, you got off easy huggy, people who take their art fairly seriously (woohoo! Art and desaign student o the year 2006-2007) get engulfed by their creative side. Sometimes this can be good and sometimes this can lead to that said person becoming a bit 'overcooked' :D as they find themselves either constantly doing art work or at least thinking of what they will do next. (in a good way, not a bogged down with coursework way if you can make sense of that)
Personally, I don't take art coursework as a chore, I really like doing the work (it beats french by kilometers!!), despite the fact that it is fairly intensive i still really find myself constantly wondering what I'm going to do next! Especially now that I'm working with animation! :)

I know.. sad individual!

BTW Cedric Garcia is a world champ DH mtb rider ;)(look him up on YouTube) You sure your not becoming obsessed?!

Can't you take AS moving image arts (or something like that) now in school? At least I think that it's a new subject...

And don't slag off French - I'm planning to study it at Uni next year! lol

No, my sister's studying GCSE art at Lurgan College and I don't know how she manages to complete all her coursework for it along with all her other subjects! It requires a lot of self-discipline and dedication, so you'd really need to like art to study it. I really like the subject matter you've chosen - kids really love animation so it's an effective choice of medium. And it's funny

Also, that dude on Meastspace who took all the caffeine tablets - priceless! It's so funny!!!

Hats off to you - keep it up because it's really good so far!

Thanks rachel! :)
Thats the one. Moving images/Motion graphics would have been really good If I could have done it but I really want to do photography (aspiring photographer you see!(see here for my flickr))

Here's an Idea though, can you do AS photography in lower6th and then do AS motion graphics in upper6th (when i drop photog. at the end of lower6th)? I wouldn't be looking for an extra grade, I would just really want to do both! But I suppose that would be me giving myself too much work to do again!
(I have an awful tendancy for doing this, choosing Art and Technology was bad enough, but I'm the sort of person who when they get an idea in their head (usually too ambitious for GCSE), and they think they could pull it off, they have to do it or they'll just feel like second best.)

Sorry rachel but me and french don't agree. I've got Mrs Mc Ateer (a lovely wee woman) so it's not the teacher thats doing it. Its the recent wave of verb tests which my class hasn't been given before (last year we had Mrs Park). It entails 3 verbs in all four tenses (thats 12 verbs) and then 3roll plays with 4 questions each (another 12 questons) which we are given to do every week from now till the end of 5th!! And then you have presentation redraughts and oral questions on top (but they're not as bad as the roll plays/verbs). I actually think that french would be my most intensive homework subject alongsides maths! I don't particularly want an A in french, but I think I should stop there before I make a few enemies ;)

Woohoo! I've got today of! and that means I can finally edit this 'carrot' mini animation (well, not really mini, more insignificant, it's a slightly bigger one (995 frames!) but it'll be put into me coursework as an experiment with eyes (THEmat's eyes that is)). I have all the visual editing done already so I just have to do the audio, I might have it up here today before lunch If I put an effort in!
o and you get to see a afore mentioned, redesigned friend of mine ;)
I have to stop calling them my friends!!! ^_^

Hope it goes well! Can't wait to see the end result (if you don't mind sharing it with us :) )

French isn't for everyone - it's like me and Physics at GCSE - why does anyone like that subject!?! You should see A-level French and German (oh yes, I'm studying BOTH!) Each week, at least 3 verbs in 8 tenses...FUN. Although I have to admit Miss McAteer isn't too bad with the old homework - i'm getting a lot more in German!

 8 tenses!!!! lol I get of easy then!
I would just melt if I went on to do a language (never mind TWO!! )

I think I'll to give you's all a sneak preview of my final peice (if I pull it off!!). It'll be on display in the art exibition June2008 (i think) an a nice wee laptop courtesy of the IT department. But I'll try and get a copy of it out to you's before then ;)

Nice photos btw! I really like black and white photography with loads of texture (really liked your bark pic and 'simple advice' - you should rename it 'the best advice' lol)

My sis is a really good artist but she struggles with the photography she has to do for her GCSE art research , so I try to help out a bit. I'm not very good but I enjoy it anyway! Can't seem to post any of my files coz theyre too big! :( Would have appreciated some constructive criticism!
