yeah but all of us mess up... i guess its not succeeding completely... as none of us are perfect and none of us can do that... but its trying your best to do what God wants you to do.. again its between the individual and Him.

all of us have a thorn in the flesh - homosexuality, porn, stealing, adultery, lying, cheating, being envious, anger, etc etc... the thing is not how well you control it, but how much you try to control it and how much you ask God for help.

i totally agree... so don't attack me for saying this,

but if your trying your hardest, can't you succeed?.... and if we all have our thorn... and say we get rid of it... do we get another to takes its place.. as noone can be perfect??? just a question

(i was going to go on and say 'so whats the point of trying'... then i thought how stupid that was.. because God is the point of trying!)

i dont think you can ever get rid of the thorn, i think its always there, but it can be supressed. doesnt mean though that you dont have to work your ass off to control it, its an ongoing process. but hey just my opinion!

This is a tough one. Ok not sure how to put this next bit so that you can catch my drift but here goes.... I think that your thorn can change as you grow through the life stages eg when your younger it could be lieing and when you hit teens etc it could change to something else eg porn/envy and then again when you become older again say 50 (just picking ramdom ages and eg soz) it could become adultery or stealing etc.

I feel that there are methods that you can use to supress your thorn and with God help that you can get over it, it will be really hard but I believe that it can be done (again this next bit is complicated). When I say get rid of a thorn I dont mean that you are never ever going to think/do whatever it is again but what I mean is that it is not going to be your focus.

Think of it like this when you first get a thorn in your skin it is all that you can think of it consumes you, but with time and effort you can get most of it out and I think that it the same with our 'Biblical thorns' so to speek.

Paul spoke of his thorn in the flesh and how it never went away too. I don't think God will always take it away, as it tests us and can make us better christians.

But... strangely... if any of us has a "thorn"w e could think of it as a blessing that Godwants to test us and bring us closer to him.

Back to the homosexual christian thing, it really is a hard one,. Hmmm... I remember hearing someone say once they couldn't help being gay, it was how they were made. I don't believe this. God made men to be with women and vice versa, if he had wanted men to be with men and women with women, he would have made us all accordingly, don't you think?

Also, some might say, you can't always help how you feel, but you can help what you DO. Don't let your emotions rule, cos in time they will fade. Go with what your head and your conscience tell you is right, and most importantly what God tells you is right, he says (somewhere, i think in Genesis - Deuteronomy somewhere but not sure what book!!!) that being gay is a sin, so do what God says is right and you will pull through.

I hope that didn't sound preachy, :( cos I need to do that more myself, just thought it would help in any situation we encounter.

If God had wanted people to be homosexual he wouldn't have made eve in the first place. When God mad the world he looked at it say that it was good - but it wasn't perfect until he had made eve, eve was the finishing touch one of the most important things that God made and the world was not perfect until she was there!!!

wow, i a gree with evry1, some very good points there. ive nothing 2 add really except the passage about how we all have our won crosses to bear, same thing as thorns really.

as for gay bishops etc i really do not know. i wud probably accept a gay bishop if he was gay but completely against its practice and not proud of it.

btw about the site, is there a link on the school website to banbacsu?

yes but again with sin homosexuality.. as well as everything else that is frowned apon stepped in! i guess its just how people deal with it, but if someone is gay and practices it, they still deserve to be loved, befriended and cared about. we can only try to point them in the right way but shouting and screaming at them that its wrong wont help! :)

Personally I think that if someone in a high position in the church were gay I would have serious reservations about it! Non-christians are confused enough about christianity, and for us to be hypocritical and allow someone who doesn't practice what (they should) be preaching to retain that position would be just another reason for the church to be attacked.

totally agree! i mean if you become a Christian (regeneration by the Holy Spirit etc.) you are meant to crucify the flesh, this includes sexual promiscutity in hetero and homosexual relations. Its similar to adultery ithink. If a Christian does come to have feelings for some one of the same sex, personally i think its a subconscious(sp) choice...bt nyways...they needa look to Christ, who has already got the victory over sin by His finished work on the cross (and Christians are united to Christ and thus have this victory...resulting in are freedom from the curse of the law) nyways (got abit side tracked) so yea look to Christ for the ability to overcome this sin.

Gay ministers/elders/bishops/deacons etc. etc. as far as im concerned is a big no no. Simply becuase they are an exammple to us...n Paul's letter (to timothy???cnt member!!) gives quite an extensive list as to how elders and deacons are to behave. So for e.g. under the presbyterian form of ruling an adulterer and thus someone acting upon feelings of homosexuality would be disciplined (not to take communion for period of time) they also are to repent of their sins etc. if not they are no longer a member, but can still worship of course...you cant stop someone coming to church lik.

so yea hope all understood that!lol

ok... talk alot about this, .. just a common topic.. =]

but i think they can become Christians, but only if they do not practise it... simple as that... and i think everyone agrees with that.. only.. in a few hundred words.. :P

I believe homosexuality is a sin like any other. If you repent and turn away from it God will forgive you.
So in answer to the original question can there be a gay Christian then no. There can however be a Christian who has been gay repented from their sin and now has Christ within.
