Due to popular demand the thread has been hastily set up but I'm expecting something very interesting and inspiring to come from it... So.. Care to share? Your opinions? Your Questions? Your... anything else-ions? ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (I'm just thinking too (sorry, of-topic before it's even started ) but I'm thinking about what you said Naomi, about why only <10 of us are regularly on the forum... what could we do to promote the site and the forum besides it in the announcements every Thursday lunchtime. I know a few of the 4th years and they never really knew about the forum properly when I was talking to them about it...*looks at Photoshop CS3 tab on startbar* I'm thinking A4 posters on the winders in and around the lines of a politics poster I did a few weeks ago here on me flickr. Any ideas anyone? |

I think up until two years ago I didnt really think about spiritual gifts much - it was kind of a spiritual taboo if you like, however two years ago I did streereach in the New Lodge area and had an absolutely amazing leader called Dave. He was kinda the one that encouraged me to look more closly at what my gift was etc and about spiritual gifts in general. As I was saying to the 5th yrs on the weekend just think about our su and if we were all using our gifts to build God's Kingdom in Banbridge academy, how amazing would that not be. There is also a verse in 1 cor 12 (I think) that says that we should eagerly desire the gifts, and another that says that if we kinda ignore our gifts that we will be ignored and soo true!! But sometimes it can be hard as we can doubt that something is a gift.... Your thoughts plz!!! ------------------------------------------------------------------------- I cant get onto your flicker Johnny *rage stupid computer* but if you print me out a copy Ill put it past the rest of committee and get some coppies done and then get it stuck up around school, I think its a great idea!! |

hmmm im not entirely sure if i agree wit spiritual gifts as in speakin in tongues etc. but dats jus a personal opinion....there are rare occurences of God workin healin but not in the same fashion as was in Apostolic times. The gifts were needed then but not now....nyhu.... R gifts otherwise, like sum peps r realli good at speakin in public, others r good listeners n givin advice n such things. Not everyone is called into minisrty etc but there is definately sumthin we can all do for God. Dat week johnny best was in kinda realli hit me!!!! In my 7th yr of this skool, been a Christian since '03 n wat have i done for God???? How many people have i told about Jesus and their need. I wud imagin i cud count them on my two hands....dats not good!!! |

try and refine it huggy if your confused.. what do people say your good at, what do you like doing/being? So for friendliness, who are you best with? Younger ones or ones of your own age etc. Most of all I's say pray to God about it.. ask him to open your eyes to your gift so you can use it for him! You may not even know it yet for all you know (patience is your friend BTW)... I don't know if I sounded boasty or not in the 'Post weekend' threat, I wasn't trying to be... I just felt like I had to share it somehow because I couldn't do it in discussion time. I look at it like this. Once you've figured out what your gift is, If no one knows about your gift, then God may not be able to open as many doors as he would have wanted to if you kept it too yourself... I dont know.. that's just my 2cents ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I had one of those pull-yer-hair-out-moments today (Coursework, arguments etc... you know, that sort.) I just plonked myself down on my bed and asked for help.. I had a weird urge to look up Job. I read this: Job 9:32-35 God and I are not equals; I can't bring a case against him. We'll never enter a courtroom as peers How I wish we had an arbitrator to step in and let me get on with my life - To break God's Death grip on me, to free me from this terror so I could breathe again. Then I'd speak up and state my case boldly. As things stand, there is no way I can do it. This really spoke to me at the time. Job had such a hard time with not much hope of the troubles ceasing. But our arbitrator is Jesus, standing before us, pleading our case to God, standing in our place, leaving me a space to breathe again It turned my whole mood around. Sort of like when someone encourages you in a match of hockey (for a lack of a better example) and you feel that boost! Out of pure randomness I opened up psalms63 after that.. read verses 1-4! They're klass! God is good! |

I think that sometimes you have to experiance spiritual gifts or someone using theirs to realise that they are true. And I feel that there is just as much for them today as there was in the Early Church, if not even more so. I come from a baptist/presbyterian background and so in our house spiritual gifts can be a toboo subject and we tend not to talk about them. I am also into my science subjects and take little at face value, so for me spiritual gifts used to be a rubbish. Also I feel that in todays society spiritual gifts can be frowned upon and we hear so many 'bad stories' about them that we become skeptical and wary of them. Again I am going to refer to street reach 2 years ago and one of my leaders. he was the one who encouraged me to look into what I believe my gift to be and directed me towards 1 cor 12-14. Before I met him I didnt believe in speaking in houngs or healing but Dave could do both but it was the way in which he did it that convinced me that it was for real. |

HaHa you think coursework in 5th yrs bad wait until you are upper 6th and you have to do course work (which is worth 67% of your A level) and do your UCAS stuff and revise for exams in Jan - and these are real exams not just school ones!!! aagh, oh add on top of that the formal and random prefect duties etc and it makes for an uber stressful year!!! Sorry!!!! Back to spiritual gifts I wonder if being organised is a gift...... |

Are Spiritual gifts always things like speaking in tongues, or can they be talenst too? Can a Personality Trait be considered a Spiritual gift? |
