Theres sooooooooooooooooooo much to choose from but Ive decided to put down the few bellow. Enjoy!

1 For Zion's sake I will not keep silent,
for Jerusalem's sake I will not remain quiet,
till her righteousness shines out like the dawn,
her salvation like a blazing torch.
2 The nations will see your righteousness,
and all kings your glory;
you will be called by a new name
that the mouth of the LORD will bestow.

3 You will be a crown of splendor in the LORD's hand,
a royal diadem in the hand of your God.

Isaiah 62 v1-3 (The whole chapter is very awesome but also quite long so i cant put it all in)

38For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[m] neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 8 v38-39

1 Praise the LORD, all you nations;
extol him, all you peoples.

2 For great is his love toward us,
and the faithfulness of the LORD endures forever.
Praise the LORD.

Psalm 117 (The Whole Thing(short but sweet))

Isaiah 40 v. 30-31

Even youths grow weary and young men stumble and fall, but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles, they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. (what an image!!!)

Psalm 40, especially verses 1-3

I waited patiently for the LORD to help me,
and he turned to me and heard my cry.
He lifted me out of the pit of despair,
out of the mud and the mire.
He set my feet on solid rock
and steadied me as i walked along.
He has given me a new song to sing
a hymn of praise to our God.
Many will see what He has done and be astounded.
They will put their trust in the LORD.

1 Corinthans 13

I know it is very well-known, and often read at weddings, but really read it. Then put Jesus in the places where it says LOVE, e.g. Jesus is patient, Jesus is kind...etc.
It helps to explain him, as GOD IS LOVE.

Galatians 5 v. 22, 23.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against this there is no such law.

It just reminds me of the qualitieds of Jesus, and what i should strive to be like if i am to be more like Him.

Do not let anyone look down on you because you are young, but be an example for other believers in your speech, behavior, love, faithfulness, and purity.- 1 Timothy 4:12

I love that. I spoke about it on the SSU Weekend actually. I think it was really applicable to the weekend. I don't know about anyone else, but it was really inspiring.

(On that note, thanks to everyone for not laughing at me when I spoke... I appreciated it :D )

Heres another Psalm. Theyre a treasure trove of awesome verses and I regularly turn to them when I cant think of anything to say.

Psalm 27
Of David.
1 The LORD is my light and my salvation—
whom shall I fear?
The LORD is the stronghold of my life—
of whom shall I be afraid?
2 When evil men advance against me
to devour my flesh,
when my enemies and my foes attack me,
they will stumble and fall.

3 Though an army besiege me,
my heart will not fear;
though war break out against me,
even then will I be confident.

4 One thing I ask of the LORD,
this is what I seek:
that I may dwell in the house of the LORD
all the days of my life,
to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD
and to seek him in his temple.

5 For in the day of trouble
he will keep me safe in his dwelling;
he will hide me in the shelter of his tabernacle
and set me high upon a rock.

6 Then my head will be exalted
above the enemies who surround me;
at his tabernacle will I sacrifice with shouts of joy;
I will sing and make music to the LORD.

7 Hear my voice when I call, O LORD;
be merciful to me and answer me.

8 My heart says of you, "Seek his face!"
Your face, LORD, I will seek.

9 Do not hide your face from me,
do not turn your servant away in anger;
you have been my helper.
Do not reject me or forsake me,
O God my Savior.

10 Though my father and mother forsake me,
the LORD will receive me.

11 Teach me your way, O LORD;
lead me in a straight path
because of my oppressors.

12 Do not turn me over to the desire of my foes,
for false witnesses rise up against me,
breathing out violence.

13 I am still confident of this:
I will see the goodness of the LORD
in the land of the living.

14 Wait for the LORD;
be strong and take heart
and wait for the LORD.

One for the grandparents/ parents.
10 Do not say, "Why were the old days better than these?"
For it is not wise to ask such questions.

wow im learning alot here - there are soo many great verses ive never heard of. I must admit, im already thinkin "Why were the old days better than these?" :huh:

my favourite verses/story is from 2nd.kings. chp.6 v8-chp7v20.
Elisha and his servant wake up 1 day to find their town completely surrounded by the Syrian army.
Quote:

His servant says "We are doomed sir! What shall we do?"
16"Don't be afraid," Elisha answered. "We have more on our side than they have on theirs." Then he prayed, "O LORD, open his eyes and let him see!!!" The LORD answered his prayer, and Elisha's servant looked up and saw the hillside covered with horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.
18The Syrians attacked, Elisha prayed "O LORD, strike these men blind!" The LORD answered his prayer and they were struck blind

This then ends with Elisha leading them back home and instead of punishing them they prepare a feast for them and they all go home happy.

However "some time later" they decide to attack again and they lay a very long siege to Samaria and inside they are so hungary that:
Quote:

(v.25) 200g of dove's dung cost 5 pieces of silver

everyone gives up hope against this HUGE army but 1 day 4 Israelite lepers, realising that they have more chance of surviving with the Syrians, decide to walk over to their camp. but
Quote:

chp. 7 v.6 The LORD had made the Syrians hear what sounded like the advance of a large army , with horses and chariots, and the Syrians thought that the king of israel had hired Hittite and Egyptian kings and their armies to attack them. 7So that evening the Syrians had fled for their lives, abandoning their tents, horses, donkeys, and leaving the camp just as it was

the entire syrian army defeat by 4 lepers! :D

there are great accounts in kings like elijah and God making donkeys speak to stubborn kings etc.

If you look at the Psalms, there are many times when people really cry out to God in despair and anguish, and rail at him for the situations they are in. I heard this from a speaker one time inm church, that all of those Psalms end with the writer praising God!

For example, Psalm 6, v.1

"O Lord, do not rebuke me in your angeror discipline me in your rage."

ends in, "The Lord has heard my plea;
the Lord will answer my prayer.

May all my enemies be disgraced and terrified.
May they suddenly turn back in shame."

And Psalm 60 also.

NO matter how bad a situation they were in, the writerskanew GOd was there with them, despite how alone they felt, and they could still praise God.

Matthew 26

Quote:

52 Then Jesus said to him, “Put your sword back into its place; for all those who take up the sword shall perish by the sword.
53 “Or do you think that I cannot appeal to My Father, and He will at once put at My disposal more than twelve legions of angels?
54 “How then will the Scriptures be fulfilled, which say that it must happen this way?”

These verses really help me to understand the power of God. Just think Jesus died for us even though he could have called Angels to save him.

If we think of the Roman Army at the time A Legion is 4200 - 5200 men.
One angel will be able to bind the devil and cast him into the pit and the devil has bound millions of people in sin.
Just think of the power then of 12 Legions of angels, yet what Jesus was willing to go through for us.

Philippians 4:13
Quote:

I can do all things through him who strengthens me.

This verse really helped me when I was sick last year and though I would have to drop out of school.

Lets Face it we can all have a rough time, sometimes. It can help to ask God why he allows bad experiences to happen to us, it can strengthen our friendship with him.

Jonah 1 v12
Quote:

I know that on account of me this great storm has come upon you.

This storm or bad experience was sent to Jonah because God had a plan for him and it was necessary for him to be swallowed, so that he was willing to go and preach in Nineveh

Matthew 14

Quote:

28 Peter said to Him, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.”
29 And He said, “Come!” And Peter got out of the boat, and walked on the water and came toward Jesus.
30 But seeing the wind, he became frightened, and beginning to sink, he cried out, “Lord, save me!”
31 Immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and took hold of him

This storm was sent to help Peter feel his need of Jesus to save him. There are times in life when the only thing we can do is cry out to God for help.

We read of another storm in Mark 4

Quote:

37 And there arose a fierce gale of wind, and the waves were breaking over the boat so much that the boat was already filling up.
38 Jesus Himself was in the stern, asleep on the cushion; and they woke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?”
39 And He got up and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Hush, be still.” And the wind died down and it became perfectly calm.

This storm was sent to help the disciples appreciate Jesus being with them. The peace we receive when we fully trust in Jesus and when we let him make decisions for us; no words can describe.

All of the above are just verses which have helped me. The explanations are simply my understanding :)

I think we all need reminded just how powerful is. All too often we try to work things out on our own, when God is the one who should be doing it, and he is more than capable.

Andy Flanigan was at our church and he told the story about his dad calling on him every saturday to help him wash the car. He loved doing it, knowing his dad needed his help.

He was at his friend's house a few years ago, and they told how they hated their son washing the car with them, as he didn't wash it properly, and it had to be redone, plus more of the water went over the boy than the car!!! But, despite this, he was still spending this quality time with his son.

Andy realsied then how his dad felt all those years before when Andy was the boy. He then realsied that God is like this too. He doesn't need our help for enything, but he wants us to help him, no matter if we do a bad job.

Don't have any bible verses this time! Sorry!

Acts 7
Quote:

55 Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, looked up to heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God.
56 "Look," he said, "I see heaven open and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God."
57 At this they covered their ears and, yelling at the top of their voices, they all rushed at him,
58 dragged him out of the city and began to stone him. Meanwhile, the witnesses laid their clothes at the feet of a young man named Saul.
59 While they were stoning him, Stephen prayed, "Lord Jesus, receive my spirit."
60 Then he fell on his knees and cried out, "Lord, do not hold this sin against them." When he had said this, he fell asleep.

I love the story of Stephen, as he was willing to show forgiveness even to those who were stoning him.

We can see that he was like Jesus:

Luke 23
Quote:

34 Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing."

I hope when non-christians look on our lives that they could see Jesus in us by our williness to forgive.

The Faith of the Centurion

Matthew 8

Quote:

5When Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to him, asking for help.
6"Lord," he said, "my servant lies at home paralyzed and in terrible suffering."

7Jesus said to him, "I will go and heal him."

8The centurion replied, "Lord, I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed.
9For I myself am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I tell this one, 'Go,' and he goes; and that one, 'Come,' and he comes. I say to my servant, 'Do this,' and he does it."

10When Jesus heard this, he was astonished and said to those following him, "I tell you the truth, I have not found anyone in Israel with such great faith.

2 Samuel 22 v 31-37

Quote:

As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is flawless. He is a shield for all who take refuge in him
For who is God besides the LORD? and who is the ORck except our God?
It is God who arms me with strength and makes my way perfect.
He makes my feet like the feet of a deer; he enables me to stand on the heights.
He trains my hands for battle; my arms can bend a bow of bronze.
You give me your shield of victory; you stoop down to make me great.
You broaden the path beneath me, so that my ankles do not turn.

2 Samuel 22 v47-51

Quote:

The LORD lives! Praise be to my Rock! Exalted be God, the ROck, my Saviour!
He is the God who avenges me, who puts the nations under me,
who sets me free from my enemies. You exalted me above my foes; from violent men you rescued me. Therefore I willpraise you, O LORD, among the nations. I will sing praises to your name.
He gives his king great victories; he shows unfailing kindness to his anointed, to David and his descendants forever.

These verses are part of David's song of praise to God after he was delivered by God from the hands of all his enemies, and Saul.

In keeping with what we heard on Thursday about Mary (I really enjoyed it)

Matthew 12
Quote:

46 While he yet talked to the people, behold, his mother and his brethren stood without, desiring to speak with him.
47 Then one said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to speak with thee.
48 But he answered and said unto him that told him, Who is my mother? and who are my brethren?
49 And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren!
50 For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.
