This bradley/eams commission that has been set up to deal with the legacy of the troubles, do you think it is right to give £12 000 to the killer's family? |

I and many others agree with you. The IRA spent years claiming it was a war. Well there are no payouts for fighting an illegal war and killing innocent people. |

Its an absolute disgrace! They speak of peace in NI! Well in my opinion if they want 2 keep it that way why do they bring crazy ideas like that up? How can anyone glorify terriorism??? |

wow, ive never seen such a unified opinion before. this is gonna sound dreadful but im almost persuaded by bishop eams that this is the right thing to do. apparently desmond tutu did the same sorta thing in South Africa with the black and white murders and it worked because one member showed grace to the other - taking the 'fisrt step' for want of a better word. seein those scenes on tv they were determined not to forgive a lot of them but i shudnt judge because im not in their position on a different note, is Archbishop Desmond Tutu not the coolest man alive! or as mugabe calls him just an "angry evil little bishop"

You know if you think of it from outside NI for a minute, it all is pretty silly. A little country finally makes a big effort to lay to rest a time of unsettledness. New people are born, and grow up and live their own life. The troubles are the least on their thoughts.. and then a few bitter people dig it all back up again, rising up more arguments and fallouts! It annoys my head, methinks some of the big guys at the top need to grow up and put it behind them! I gave up on denominationalism about 2 years ago, If someone asks me if I'm a protestant or a Catholic I say I'm a Christian. Jesus wasn't fussed on 'religion' and politics so im not going to be either

I say that too. I don't think people should be judged any more (or ever should have been) for their faith/religion. I am a christian, and a follower of Jesus. It is sad to think that still now so many people's lives are governed by hatred for a group just because they are different to them in some way. In my yf we have just finished a peace program study. It has made me see just how much prejudice is still present in our society, that I hadn't noticed as much before. Do you think this will always be an issue for many in our country? |

definately - sectarianism is moving outside Christianity (but still exists ). apparently the new presbyterian moderator refuses to permit catholicism etc.) to be a Catholic or a Protestant is just a 'side' to many, not necessarily a Christian. but i like johnny's optimism |

hey guys.. its been ages since i have been on... but i can't wait to get started again... =] for this... ITS ONLY MONEY... worth nothing, people may see it as a 'reward', or a 'gift'... but what is it really worth? and are those in that family worth any less than anyone else on this earth?... about 'catholic' or 'protestant'... we shouldn't worry about stuff like that, and only concern ourselves with what God wants us to do... =] |
