our church is holding a youth praise service for the first time with our new praise band but things are a bit experimental/cautionary at the moment - has anyone got any advice for the praise or even the sermon? |

This might not help a lot, but we have evenings some months where our yf band lead the worship, and I would definately say a mix of normal ones and new ones you do in your youth group. Don't be afraid to teach a new one but you need to do older ones as well to allow the older people in church to feel involved too. Sorry if it doesn't help much or make any sense! |

Well as a permanent drummer for my own church's worship band I know how you feel when there is a case of 'dead' worship. You just can't play properly when there is no movement of the spirit in the congregation. But it isnt your/the band's fault. Worship isnt all about a song, if they're not right inside it will come through. I would say keep it simple, look at your regular worship/sermons and think whats good about them and then whats bad about them - ask some of the congregation that you know and respect and get feedback from them. Then take these all together and try and do the best you can Im no worship leader though so I could be wrong

Yeah I agree. Especially from a singer in a worship group in our church, when you look out at the congregation, some people just look bored and/or tied, and then you feel a bit like that yourself. Don't let it get you down tho! |
