Ooo thats a tricky one!! Em, well I'm Presbyterian, and we would then practise it, but I wouldn't get my children baptised as babies, because I used to be Baptist and believe that total immersion and belivers baptism is more what I agree with. I certainly don't like the term "ADULT" baptism, becaus i have nothing against children being baptised, as long as they can profess to a faith In Christ and it is something they want to do as a witness for God.

However, (lol again) i do understand the reasons behind infant baptism, coming from God's covenant with Abraham. Our minister stresses with each baptism that it doesn't make the child a CHristian, which I like becasue I don't believe anyone is a christain until they pray for forgiveness and give their lives toi Christ!

I'm from a C.O.I / R.C background so I've grown up only knowing infant baptism. I don't even think I knew 'grown-ups' could be baptised until I was about ten haha! I think infant baptism is actually really important because I believe very strongly in the concept of the Church being a family and infant baptism is really all about welcoming a new son/daughter, brother/sister into the Church. It's also good for the parents, I think, to remind them to use Christian principles when bringing up their child because it's all about the parents promising to try and bring their child to faith. In both the C.O.I and R.C. traditions it's confirmation that's more about that person declaring their faith for God. To be honest I love this system, perhaps because it's so familiar to me but also because I think it can really encourage someone to come to God as when they're doing confirmation classes they're taught all about WHY they were baptised, really. In fact my confirmation was one of the reasons I properly became a Christian! Of course in other churches the adult baptisms work in the same way I suppose. I actually could ramble on about this for a year or two so I'll leave it at that. Really though whether you were baptised as a baby or as an older person or not at all, the point is you can still come to Christ and live for him regardless of whether you've been baptised and/or what denomination you were baptised into!
