So I've been talking about whether S.U. has a 'clique' problem with quite a few S.U-ers so I just decided to post my thoughts about it on here!

Well everyone who comes to S.U all come from different families and so different backgrounds and there's a mix of churches too, obviously. So everyone won't agree on all the little things but I've been told by quite a few people, when I go to them to speak about S.U, they think it's 'cliquey' and intimidating because they believe that the people there are in their own wee groups and won't let them in. Now I don't feel 'threatened' or anything by 'cliques' but I do see where they're coming from. I for one love to talk to everybody and anybody and events like the weekend for sure help me to feel like I've gotten to know way more people in S.U. in all the years. This isn't really making sense or being relevant... but yeah I just found a wee verse:

"Now I beg you, brothers, through the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfected together in the same mind and in the same judgment. " 1st Corinthians 1:10

Obviously this doesn't happen all the time and that makes me sad ): but I think it's a nice wee reminder that we all, as Christians in the worldwide, non-denominational*, Christian family and church, should reach out to our fellow brothers (and sisters!) in Christ and at least attempt to just understand where they're coming from if their beliefs differ a little from ours. I for one have been frowned upon and even shouted at by other Christians for having slightly different beliefs, though it's rare it can still happen and one of my greatest prayers and wishes is that people who cause divisions in the church whether conciously or not, should realise that God doesn't want us all arguing with each other. 1st Corinthians has a lot about this actually and I stress again that I know it's rather unlikely for us all to wake up one day and believe exactly the same thing with no variation but I think it's obvious God wants us all to at least try to understand each other and not to look down on each other just because we have different opinions about our faith and beliefs. The bottom line is that everyone and anyone who's asked Jesus for forgiveness and who honestly believes in Him as their saviour, well they're saved and just because we don't agree on other things which are pretty minor compared to the universal belief that Jesus died, on the Cross, for OUR sins - well we shouldn't let those minor disagreements get in the way of our love for eachother as brothers and sisters in Christ.

To finish off my ramble (or rant?) I'm going to finish with another verse from 1st Corinthians chapter one:

"For Jews ask for signs, Greeks seek after wisdom, but we preach Christ crucified; a stumbling block to Jews, and foolishness to Greeks, but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God." 1st Corinthians 1:22-24

~~ I think this highlights that there ARE differences between different people in the Christian Church and probably always will be but CHRIST is the same for everyone. I'm sure you guys knew this already but what do you think of my opinions and what are your own?

*By non-denominational, I mean forgetting about denominations and not being prejudiced toward people, thinking they're going to have a certain belief just because they go to a certain church. I'm guilty of this myself you know, I'm not saying it's anything like sectarianism or whatever but we are sometimes inclined to believe that, y'know, all Presbyterians make great tray bakes or something.
