Guidelines for Daily Comic Threads

One thing I like about the xkcd forums is that the rule there is that ever daily comic thread has to have a set of guidelines, namely: 1)An image of the comic in question, 2)a link to the comic in question 3)the alt-text (not applicable here) and 4) some piece of original commentary. I think following those types of rules would help discussions here, as at least we have a comic in front of us to reference more easily. Therefore I propose:

1)All titles must include the comic number and comic title (you can find the title by going to the archive)
2)All Posts must include the comic, using [img][/img] tags. (e.g. [img ]http://www.circleversussquare.com/Comics/CVS91.gif[ /img] )
3)All posts must contain a link to the comic in question
and 4)all posts must include at least some commentary on the comic.

What does everyone think?

As most people know, I am not an admin or official decision maker here in the forum. That being said, as a user, I think that all this would be very good.

I'm not making any official guidelines, but if you kept to the template that I used for the first several threads, that would be cool...given the size of the strips in this comic, though, images embedded in posts are not good simply because internet connections aren't always broadband/high-speed wireless....

But what I was doing was taken from the guidelines on the xkcd boards. ^_^

I don't know how big a problem that is. First, I would bet the majority of users do have high speed, it's just the way the internet is these days, particularly the younger demographic CvS usually appeals to. second, people usually will have already seen the comic, and that means a)they're willing to put up with the time to load the comic, and b)the image will likely already be in their cache, so that should cut down on at least some of the burden. And third: these are .gif images, usually with no more than a 3 or 4 colors. They're not all that large.

Pentagon... Your WORD is my LAW (for now). Also, Pentagon, check out the "Start Voting" thread over in the "Circle vs. Square." I had an idea I needed to run by you. I hope in all your infinite wisdom you approve. All hail KING PENTAGON!

Wouldn't embedding the image take a lot of bandwidth from the original site? Anyway, making people go the original page would get them to read the news.

I hadn't known about the title being available at archives. I'll stick to using those titles now. :) Have to think about using the images though.

We have been using Pentagons guidelines for the last few comic threads. Are you in favor or should we revert back? What do others think?

Oh no problem at all, I was simply noting Pentagon's grasps for control.

Sorry again, I posted as a guest. I've only just thought to look for the name function.

Not at all true, when I updated my browser, it logs me out of all things that I was signed into. This includes this, Talkbass.com, YouTube, etc.
