As many of you may have noticed, ASpieboy and I have QUITE a mass of posts on the forum. This is mostly due to the fact that we're frequent visitors, but there's few other people to talk to besides each other.

So, my point is...does anyone have any ideas of how we can start up some MAJOR promotion of both the comic and the forum? Any and all ideas are welcome!!

I posted this in another thread without realizing this one existed...

Anyway, I'd suggest promoting the comic before the forum. Those who love the comic hopefully will then join the forum (at least that's what I did).

Well yes, obviously the comic is to be promoted over the forum.

Although, I was not aware of the forum's existence for quite some time whilst reading the comic.

That's true. I will tell you a little bit about what I do.

Lots of comics get tons of traffic from stumbleupon. I am a pretty active user over there and I am completely addicted to stumbling. You can check me out here: http://madhollywood.stumbleupon.com/

If you are a stumbler too please feel free to friend me. Anyway, I would suggest that becoming a stumbler is an excellent way to promote Circle Versus Square and in general to discover new and interesting websites. There is also other social media such as Digg, reddit, ect. The KOU could link up over on these sites and see what we can do to raise Circle Versus Square's prominence.

Voting at topwebcomics and buzzcomics is helpful especially at the beginning of the month. Posting in other prominent forums with CvS in your signature or maybe even the new KOU blog.

I have suggested that on the KOU blog we could rotate a webcomic review and that this might be an excellent way to build good will in the comic community.

Incidentally, has everybody voted for CvS over at the Webcomic Readers Choice Awards? It would be awesome to pull out a win over there.

Obviously spreading the word about the comic to friends and such is cool too. Now that we have our own blog we can exchange links and post links on the KOU blog in exchange for a CvS link. To this end, we should be contacting bloggers and websites that might be interested in linking to CvS and see what we can work out.

There is tons of stuff which can be done, but this is a start. Any other ideas?

Hmm... I think I'll post a link to CvS in the other forum I frequent (in addition to word of mouth and voting). I'm slightly cautious of posting a direct link to the forum because many members are kinda... spammy.

Post a link to the comic only. We'd prefer to prevent spamming, hm?

another thing you can do is simply put the comic in the signature of your forum user and then post normally Just participate in the discussion naturally, don't even advertise, and then have it in your signature. This can also work well, and you can make some new forum friends too!

That's something I've tried, but the forum itself wasn't very popular. I'll have to try on some bigger forums I take part in.

What forums do you post on?

It was a local forum, not really of any relevance, but with a higher likelihood of people actually clicking the link than the one I'm about to explain.

I am a member at TalkBass.com, for I play the Bass Guitar and that site is exceptional. However, there are tonnes of members, so its not easy to get to remember people like it is on this forum. Also, it's a forum with a much higher maturity level (one which I get annoyed with sometimes...and sometimes it goes completely in the opposite direction for a thread or two, strangely enough). The population of the forum seems mostly to be one that wouldn't find humour in a webcomic. But, that being said, I did mean to post a thread about it and put it in my signature. For some reason I had never got around to posting the thread. It was in my signature, not sure if I changed it.

That particular forum saddens me at times, as your faced with many limits if you're not a "supporting member": signature is limited to 2 lines, you can't have an avatar, and there are a bunch of other limits. Only if you're not a supporting member. Ridiculous, in my opinion...

I am far too tired to read this not-even-a-page thread, so forgive me if someone already said the Webcomic Readers Choice Awards. If you guys haven't noticed yet (which suggests you haven't voted?) CvS is dominating in every category it's in. I think in one category, another comic is catching up, but surely it won't beat us. I think winning multiple webcomic awards will definetly bring more traffic.

Oh I concur as well, I noticed back when I voted that they had a fair lead, but if that has increased I am most delighted!

XKCD has been hot on our tails in writing. We need all the votes we can get. I have got a few of my friends to vote for CvS too over IM.

I think posting on blogs is another good way to link the comic as well.

She told me to just report the posts when that happens, and she'll delete them.

I've tried getting people to vote, the only thing that hinders the whole thing is the signing up process LOL You'd be surprised how hard it is to get some people to register for things.

But I am trying!!

Yeah the registering thing is a little bit of a hard sell, but it just takes a little more convincing.

Indeed. Though with one person I've tried to convince...I was able to get them to the registering page, but errands called to them and they were unable to complete it at that moment in time, and never returned to do so. The registering undoubtedly lessens the vote count by some amount!

The title of this article is Webcomic You Should Be Reading:

http://www.comicmix.com/news/2008/10/29/we...id=13934#c13934

Sadly, it only mentions SMBC and does not include any other comics including CvS. I think the Knights should comment on this article and tell him what comic he really SHOULD be reading. Go take some umbrage on behalf of CvS.
