I'm temporarily working on changing the skin. So the forum might look slightly strange as I'm experimenting.

Do you like the bars in the polls? I kind of do, but the general consensus is that they should be flat then I'll change them....

I personally think a darker skin is easier on the eyes. When one stares at a bright screen for awhile, it's really bad for the eyes. It's comparable to staring at a light bulb for an extended period of time. Not my call obviously, but just a recommendation for the consideration of others.

"GAH" was my first reaction when I dropped by today. It is... Different. :/ Not sure how to tell when there's an updated topic, all the notebook symbols seem similar.

What's with the little bar under our names? They look the same for everyone.

The bars seem to be general post count.

Anyway, enjoy experimenting Rheingold!

The post count bars should look more reasonable now; sometime before this weekend, I'm going to try to make the icons more clear---would anyone be opposed to Heart with a sword for a thread with new posts and Heart without a sword for a thread with no new posts? And then maybe Pentagon for closed threads (because he's opposed to open dialogue), and Rectangle for a poll...because...he's Rectangle. Closed and poll threads will also have a prefix of either ``closed" or ``poll," so....

Oh---I'm also going to see if a dark-gray background with white text looks better and is easier to read (the exact shade of dark gray is the same as the ``In the Dark'' Firefox theme, which I find very readable and easy to look at, in case you care/want to offer your opinion before I change it....)

I like your suggestions, Rheingold. I think the forum will look quite nice. I was amazed myself when I realized how customizable it was, like choosing your own icons for unread topics or whatever. It's really cool. As for the icons, wouldn't Triangle be a better choice for polls? Not really sure why, but it came to me, and because of Triangle's vote in the election, he could be considered more memorable in terms of voting...just a thought, no need to listen to me lol.

One thing I do like about the new format is that you can do a quick reply without actually having to click "Quick Reply" which really makes it more appropriate. It's a Quicker Reply :D

So...Heart without a sword means no new posts; Heart with a sword means new posts.
Triangle means a poll with no new posts; Pentagon means a poll with new posts.

As soon as I upload them, Rectangle will be a moved topic with no new posts; Parallelogram will be a moved topic with new posts.

I may change the number-of-post icons to Pentagonites.

Background color changes aren't going to happen for at least a few days, but I'm going to try to get that done...Also I want to get rid of the orange text altogether.

If you feel like making buttons that say things like ``Edit'' and ``Delete'' and ``Report'' and ``Quote'' with various shapes (other than Circle and Square), then upload them to Photobucket or a similar site and send me links. If they look good, then I'll replace the current icons with those.

I'm also going to remember to add an ``I take umbrage!'' button to the bottom, as well as a link to the comic. Actually, I'll go do that now.

If there's anything else you want to have happen, let me know....

All sounds pretty good! As much as I'd like to contribute "Edit, Delete, Report, and Quote" buttons, I'm a very poor artists so I don't think I'd do too good a job. I like the personality the new icons add, though, it really personalizes the forum. Nicely done so far!

EDIT: Comparing the unread posts to the read posts icons, it really works! Because basically it's like the sword is a stamp on the picture of Heart to indicate that it's unread. Once you read it, that "stamp" disappears. It's great! Nicely done Rheingold!

Hmm... is it me, or have all the avatars been resized? Looking at mine and Rarisgod's, I can see they've been shrunk. What's the maximum size for avatars here?

Thanks, rar!

I'm pretty sure the maximum size is currently 60x60 (pixels). I'll change that to 80x80? I think that was what it was on the old board.

And I just noticed the new post count images! That's awesome!
Again, nicely done!

It looks nice, but just to shake things up, here are some more ideas:

Circle with a suit, Circle without a suit.
Square with a laser, Square without a laser.
Triangle with his hat, Triangle without his hat.
Parallelogram with scones, Parallelogram without scones.
A chicken.

Okay, I guess that last one isn't really shapeish...

I think the Circle idea would work, but I also like the idea of how the icons don't really reflect Circle or Square, but they're all supporting characters. Seems to work.

I'm anxious to see the new look for the forum that Rheingold mentioned. I wish I could help!

True. But I still like the Triangle idea for the polls.

Triangle was used for Polls with no responses and Pentagon indicates a poll WITH responses. I know I've been making a lot of suggestions, but I think Pentagon and Triangle should be switched around, as Pentagon doesn't believe in democracy, so he'd be more present in a poll with no responses.

I was thinking of it more as a matter of shape: Pentagon has the extra sides that Triangle does not have...it would probably make more character sense to have Pentagon be without new posts, but it makes so much more visual sense to have Triangle be without new posts that I think I'm going to leave it this way...we could do a poll about it though :P

(incidentally, blue emoticons? or should I replace them all with other emoticons? or add more?)

And if you could figure out how I change the font color, that would be amazing. I spent _forever_ last night trying to get it to be lighter, and nothing happened...at all....

I would like an angry smiley, I used to have one for taking umbrage. And now I don't. *sniff* :(

I can cruise around on my own Zetaboard (if that's how I should refer to it) and see if I can figure out font colour changes, I think I recall coming across it once...

As for the blue emoticons, I was never really a fan of them myself, I prefer standard emotions of yellow, or at least like the ones we used to have. I love how easy adding emoticons is by the way...but see what the others say I suppose, I needn't be the only one contributing my opinions!
