As posted in the 5000 replies game - If you could blow up the world with a flick of a switch, would you do it? I think there's a few good arguments for both scenarios, but I'd like to see how everyone else justifies their answers. Personally, I'd be tempted but would decline. Ok so the world is filled with a lot of evil: War, crime, hate, teenagers (kiddin :P ), but there's too much in the world that's important to me to just destroy. There's also the fact that I firmly believe that everyone should be given the chance to live. What they do with their life, and the consequences that are generated by their actions, are their own problem, but nobody has the right to end a life prematurely (however, just for the record, I'd like to point out I'm a supporter of abortion). Of course I could take an Descartian view of it: Can I be sure that the world in the form in which I see it exists at all? 'Cognito Ergo Sum' thus I know I exist, but everything else is quite possibly a lie. Perception is undeniably inaccurate therefore it is near absurd to take everything I sense at face value. How much of an effect would flicking the switch actually make? However I feel a more realistic view must be taken, simply because if your methodological skeptisim takes you to the wrong conclusion, a lot of people will die in order to prove René was barking up the wrong tree. What do you guys (and gals) think? |

Though I wouldn't destroy all life on the planet I would blow up the planet itself... It's just something that I'd want to do for some reason... |

Huh? Oh. Sorry bout that... that was just soemthing I'd want to do is all... As for my philosophy on the subject... I wouldn't blow up the world at all. I feel that everything here ,no matter if it was good or evil, has a the right to live on the earth. The earth itself can't be good or evil. It's just there. Therefore one would have no justification for blowing it up. |

I wouldn't blow up the world. Then, we'd all die and there'd be no more Negima! And people may say that blowing up the world will "atone for all the bad we've done and kill off the evil, evil human race", but that's just running away from a problem. Face the music, man. B) |

In short, no. I live on it. Not to mention I have some love for the human race as a whole. And also, this thread is just a ploy to find out who the terrorist are. |

Blowing up Earth =/= annhialating humankind. Just the part you don't choose to crew your Death Star. |

No, not the world. Just the Arab World, so we'd get some decent peace at last. (Only likes tolerant religions) |

/bitchslap Remember that every religion has it's fanatics. The Muslims are only having trouble with a group of radicals who are not too dissimilar to another group of radicals who hailed from the Middle Ages, namely the Christian Crusaders. |

Nice try - but the Middle East has had many problems from way before the modern radicals. They've been trying to destroy Israel since 1949. To each their own, OK? I'm entitled to my opinion. |

Yes, and I'm entitled to bitchslap you for your opinion, especially considering that you're advocating genocide. I wouldn't mind you wanting the entire planet being blown up (I want the same thing), but you don't pick off certain ethnic groups just because you don't like them. That's not classy villainy, that's just simple racism. Note also that Israel is PART of the Middle East, so blowing up the Middle East means blowing up Israel as well. |

Before calling ME a racist, pick up a history book and read of the troubles in the Middle East. I'm frankly not interested in left-wing propaganda, just the facts. NOW, can we drop this and continue the rest of the thread, please? |

I second that. Like the world but not the people on it. (Most of them, not all) |
