Fact? Or Opinion?

I sure hope this hasn't been posted already.

Anyways there is one thing that has been bothering me for a long time. When I look at various world issues (such as war), I see that both sides think the other is evil just because it is what they believe to be the truth. It came upon me that if the world is like this, there can be no fact. Only opinion. Our take on the world is an opinion. The fact that we breathe air is opinion. It is just a name we gave to it. Just as the english language was a system we made up to make communicating much easier. Though my teachers say that Math is the only subject where there is a right and wrong answer, I must disagree. Math is only a system we made up, therefore the answer to 2+2 is only what we BELIEVE the answer to be. My question is, do you believe that there IS such a thing as fact? Or do you believe that everything in this world is based on opinion?

I believe (lol)that there is such a thing as a fact. The problem is, all people may not accept that fact. To illustrate this, let me use a definition of "fact". Definition: "A concept whose truth can be proved".
Basicly, a fact is simply an opinion based on information.
To use something I'm very familiar with, lets use Christianity as an example.
I believe God exists, this is my concept. If that is all I've got, then that is an opinion. If, however, I can provide reliable evidence that God DOES in fact exist, then I now have a fact.
The problem with creating a fact in such a manner is that all people do not accept concepts based on the evidence shown. They may believe the evidence is inconclusive, that it actually disproves that point, or many hundreds of other reasons. It's similar to an abstract painting, some people see a tree in the sunshine, while others who have the exact same painting to look at see a sailing ship. Two totally different objects created from the same evidence because of little quirks in a person's mind.

(Sorry for being so long winded, but I love writing reports for school so I get into the habit of writing reports that can stretch for pages upon pages.)

This is not even possible because Fact and opinion are like brothers
they NEED each other

you can't build facts if their is no opinion
you can't build opinions if there is no fact

Tell Me if i'm wrong

But we don't have a concrete definition of "human" or "machine". For all we know this could be referring to anything depending on who you are. "human" is a general term in the english language. However, we don't know what the true name for ourselves is. There might not even be one.

My eyes see, this is fact. I know this not through our spoken language, but because they work and I perceive color, depth, and motion.

words are a messy thing aren't they? I believe that every person on earth could be a great philosopher if they didn't have to put it into words(I mostly regard myself as a guy who's pretty good with words)

I have dozens of philosophies that I can't put into words. It's like being aware of something but you don't know "How" you're aware. You know it by instinct

Trying to come up with a fact or opinion without using words aint easy(seeing as language is our only form of communication, it's literally impossible)

I think opinion is much stronger than fact

and as Shakespeare said
"What is in a name? Would not a rose by any other name smell just as sweet?"

I believe nothing is impossible.... Maybe Highly improbable.... but not impossible.. the most craziest things could happen! there was once a time when the earth's greatest scientists thought,"The earth is flat!" now we say the earth is round. There is nothing like fact! it's all opinion. The reason is that everyone thinks people who think 1+1=3 is stupid! But the actual fact is that 1+1 COULD equal 3 but the only Logical explanation is 2. Us humans have logic as other animals have instinct. The most logical thing is what we believe to be true. If logic wasn't there than the world would be disaster. But without it we can truly see. A frog might be able to jump to the moon some day. one day everone might become Psychics and be able to Levitate! all the things I mention are Very improbable, Yet Possible. even if odds are 1 to 1000000 there is always a possibility! There are no such things as Hard Cold Facts so us humans follow logic. logic is our very own instinct. Fact is what us humans think is the most logical thing, as opinion is what a few people belive to be true.If a lot of people were to believe bears could fly no one believes it without seeing.but if they see bears fly, they'd call it a fact. but facts are equal to opinions. Facts are opinions and educated guesses by the brightest of minds.. Or so they say. a fact can be proven by a normal person faster than a scientist. "CAN" as in Possible, Not certain.

persistant? (do you mean as in, we're trying too hard to prove our opinions? When a debate gets to the point that one side has nothing left and is struggling to stay above water and avoid a whimpering defeat at all costs, it's not a debate anymore - it's a conversion)

I think that everything a person thinks is opinion, if you think hard enough math could be included as opinion. Such as the way that I can believe that 7+8=3. How? I could believe that math should be done in base 12 (a clock is in base 12, if you wait for eight hours after sever o' clock, it would be three o' clock). People's views on spelling, speaking, writing could all be considered as their opinion.

I also think that aspects about the world that can be observed are facts, though these facts can change. The Mediterranean Sea separates Europe and Africa: Fact, America has 13 states: Used to be a face but has changed, All continents were once joined into a single land mass: opinion (one I personally don't believe).
