Is there any particular reason why she uses this word at the end of all of her sentences?

Because you end most sentences with Desu in japanese, arune...^_^

I figured that, but she says it much more frequently than most of the other characters.

Yeah, it's probably a bad habit them...

or they use it to enhance her cuteness (supposed cuteness <_<. I don't think she's cute, i think she's creepy). I think they did it with Suiseiseki from Rozen Maiden...worked pretty well on me ^_^ And to a lesser extent, Yue as well

Come to think of it, Yue uses 'Desu'
at slightly unusual times.

or something.

Like the sweet way she says 'nan nan desu?'
XD Ah. Anyway, I don't think her 'desu' is anything different.

Well, it's kind of like 'is'
except it's at the end of the sentence, and just sort of affirms whatever you're saying.

Like saying 'Watashi wa Harada desu'
is more like the full stop.

but when it's like
'Ashita wa ani no tanjoubi desu'
it's more affirming
so it's not
'Ashita wa ani no tanjoubi ja nai desu'...
kind of thing. (um... ?)

Um, it doesn't really make sense, but you should catch what I mean....

Desu is used most when speaking in a formal tone. Most of the characters don't say it because they are speaking to each other and speak informally. It can be likened to the verb "to be" but it just dpeneds on the context of the sentence.

Why she says it is most likely to be used as a sort of Moe thing. Either that or she speaks really formally most of the time.

what goes where!?
Teachers
as Yuki said, 'desu' is 'is' or 'to be' and the likes.

i'll give my own example.

'Kaede-san wa ninja desu.'

[Na...ninja? ninja wa dare desu ka?]

-----literal translation.-----

'Kaede [a] ninja is.'

[Wha...ninja? ninja who is?]

-----in english.-----

'Kaede is a ninja.'

[Wha...ninja? whose a ninja?]

hope that clears things up.

IT's classroom jap.
If you're me, you'll probably end up using 'nda'

or something not very feminine....

but many people use 'desu' you can't really not say it.....
