I'm not proud :]

Especially when I have friends who aren't into anime.

"Is anime all you ever talk about?"

>__________________> no...*in denial*

Makes me feel like a real LOSER with no life. I need to get laid :'D

Really, if you were me and you like stuff like Kodomo no Jikan, you wouldn't be proud. "HEY GUYS! I LIKE WATCHING ANIMATED 3rd GRADERS DOING **** AND ****! REALLY. I DO! <:D"

Yeah...I'm not gonna admit I like those kinds of things to "normal" people... e_e

I wouldn't be proud to say that all I do all day is watch anime and hentai(which IS pretty much all I do). But that's just me I guess...

Aw, poor jiz. D: I admit my fandom partially 'cause it distances me from so many people I hate that DON'T watch anime.

"cause I like being as far from them as possible. >>

By not talking about it, you're nly helping along misunderstandings of what anime is, I think...

O.o Especialy you Zodiac-san, if all youre friends like anime and only the "normals" arn't, why does it matter if they or they not know youre an otaku???

it's because I have many different types of friends, old friends, good friends, friends in football, occasional friends, and the girls i know.

of all of those people, I talk anime with less than 10 of them

lol, girls gets a whole new catagory xDD

Unlike most people here, I am a shameful anime person. I have probably watched the least amount of anime than anyone here, and read the least amount of manga. Anime isn't my life and it doesn't dictate my relationships. I'm here 'cos I you're my mates, and most of you are nice people. Sure, it's a place where I can talk about Negima, but I don't talk about that half of the time, lulz

I have other hobbies and interests, although I don't really share hobbies with mates. They're mates because of our differences, if anything.

I know about maybe...5 or 6 people in RL that I can talk anime to. Sad, yeah? T_T

lol sociology

hehe yea I know but what jobs are there in sociology?

O and I don't think most ppl care about the random "normal" people so much as their friends. I mean I don't get attacked or disliked because I wish I was an otaku it's just like they don't take me seriously about it or something along those lines or rather I guess their perspective is at a like "I'm too good" for anime which kinda pisses me off.

(not sure I phrased that right either : scratch :

Hehe and yea I think alot of us are in that boat of just watching anime and uh ... the slightly more explicit version all the time lol

I think we've come to the conclusion that the amount of how proud of anime you are depends on the environment you live in, i.e. how much the genre is accepted in society.

I come from a pretty asian-influenced town with many casual viewers of anime, as well as a few in-depth viewers. I'd probably group myself between the two (leaning more towards in-depth). Anyway, despite that, California schools are generally a very "clique-y". All the things you may have seen in Mean Girls or any other recent high school drama show are not too far off from how kids treat each other because of trivial differences. There are still a lot of people who don't know much about the genre and look at it with their nose high.

A lot of my friends do watch anime, but it's mostly mainstream CN-type shows or fansubs of very popular shows. I don't feel particularly proud that they come to me whenever they want to talk about anime, but nothing else.

Are you proud of being an anime fan?
-Yes.

Are you proud of your fellow anime fans?
-For the most part. Although I really hate all the weeaboos that drag down the image of the entire fanbase.

Are you proud of having 'anime' listed as one of your interests?
- Yes.

Yeah, that's how it should be explained...

But really, that's how it is, it's very clique-y

I'm sorta proud, but the thing I'm not proud of is that I like some of the shojo/romance-ish anime (can't let it out to my friends, since I have an image/reputation to uphold. a guy of my stature doesn't seem like he's into that kind of stuff)

but I'm okay with everyone of my fellow anime viewers

Guys being into girls makin' out? Never heard of that before. [/sarcasm]

I'm not really ashamed of my liking of anime, I just don't tell people. They might think that we have different interests and can't be friends or something.

lol if I told my friends about eheheh some of the more ecchi stuff / hentaish stuff I'd never hear the end of it. I don't think I could tolerate the jeering before I'd punch one of them in the face.
