it's obvious most everyone here hates school (k, all of u) I'm asking "If one day you could leave school forever, no issues to come bite you later, no strings attached, would you?" or do you have some ulterior motive for going? does anybody here WANT to go to school for some reason discuss |

I wouldn't. Perhaps I would skip some days, but I wouldn't leave school. Since if I did, I wouldn't get good enough grades so I could enter that godly school I'm going after XD (Computer school, they teach everything between basics and fun stuff like 3D Animating) However, if I still got the grades I wanted... Sure! I would skip any day XD |

I'd never leave school. Even though I really hate my school and studying and that super long walk to the bus stop and the extremely long bus ride home. But my friends are there, and I've ONLY got friends there, so like, I've gotta be there to have my friends with me ): Actually, I kind of enjoy school. Because I'm sure when I grow up, I'll be missing the times I spent in school. But it'd be much better if school is with all computer studies. Like textbook and everything is used by a computer. So fun! XD |

School sucks, plain and simple. The way it is traditonally organized is DREADFUL, but everyone's too stuck in the "well that's just how it is" mindset to try and change it. Think about it. If an alien came here and you tried to describe school to it like this, what would it think? "School is a place where most Earth children go for 7 hours a day to sit and learn things they don't care about and will probably never use again. At school they are prevented by this "learning" from doing a host of other, more productive activities." The alien would think our planet was full of dumbasses, AND WOULDN'T GIVE US THE SECRET TO IMMORTALITY. But srsrly tho, it's just awful. As a second semester twelth grade student, I'm ready to get the hell out of that awful place. I know that most people consider seniors as more mature, which makes them quieter or sumshit, but in my case it's different. I'm not "more mature" or anything. I've always been quiet, but now I'm jaded AND quiet. I'M 18 FUCKING YEARS OLD. I'M TOO YOUNG TO BE "JADED." This is what school has done to me. The long hours of studying math just to get a 69 on the test due to teacher error, the stubborn and ungrateful school administration, the absolutely HORRID personalities of the majority of my fellow students....they've all made me very cynical about education. I think the way education is carried out in most countries, particularly the US (too shitty) and Japan (too hard), is terrible and in DIRE need of re-thinking. Some people argue school is necessary to becoming a well-rounded individual. Well, here I sit before you, well-rounded due only to sources outside of shcool, such as my parents. It's entirely possible to not go to school and earn a healthy living, so why can't we re-structure the school system to better suit everyone's needs? The old form of education has grown ineffective and stale. Yes, I've been thinking about all this for a while. God, I can't wait for college, where you're treated like a PERSON. Did you know that the Constitution does not legally apply to students? As long as we're in school, they can suspend all of our rights, if they want. They often suspend at least a few. I'm obviously sentient, so why do I not get the same rights as others? I'm 18, so I'm no minor, but being in school is what disallows me the basic freedoms that this country was built upon. Why is a social institution that relies so heavily on denial of the basic freedoms that were planned during the founding of America regarded as a good thing by so many people? it just doesn't make sense. I'm done now, because I have to go to fucking school. D: |

you hit the nail on the head. The endless mindset is "That's the way it is" There's so much better anyone of us here could be doing with our time. Most of us are likely to say "I hated school" once they've left. in all truth, humans, by our basic nature, LOVE learning. It's the reason we do everything we enjoy, like play video games, read books, watch TV or go on the internet (or anything else. that makes you feel free, confident or have some sense of accomplishment) if we're not enjoying education, something is very sick and wrong. and like Jolle said "However, if I still got the grades I wanted... Sure! I would skip any day XD" we really only want to able to get somewhere in the world. We think of it as a necessary trial to overcome "Skills" are just words in a file. A diploma is a roll of paper that you're told is meaningful. worst yet, the teachers care more about a paycheck than the students, endlessly bound by the set-in-stone curriculum before the students brain while the parents want a daycare to send their monsters to so they don't have to worry about them (because the kids they had are such a burden on them) and they have it in their head that if you don't learn this stuff, you're a failure. the entire system, everything about the system makes sense

I think I may be the only one here who dosen't get why you people hate school so much... I mean, sure, I don't like learning most of the stuff in school, but I do think it's good to learn some stuff and that it can help me in life, and like, I would never even think of learning this stuff if it weren't for school forcing me to it. And while some teachers don't give a damn about they're students like Alucard said, I'd have to say that while it has a very bad side, it also have it's good sides. For example, I'd feel a bit bad if I made trouble to a person I know and appriciate as both teacher and a man. However, when some deep-shit teacher comes, it gives me a lot of good reasons to spoil he's lesson and have some fun and relieve some of the stress in my daily life~. I'll also get away with it if the teacher is really acting in a disgusting matter since I can compliant aganist him, and as for the times I do get punished, that's just part of life. It's not fun and exciting if you never get into bad times or never to good times~. And like, you can do some things in school with people that you'll probably never do anywhere else. And to top it all off, I think school is just a lot of fun most of the time. I mean, I get to learn some stuff I find intresting and some other stuff that might be useful later on (and even if not "getting me a job"-useful, it's still kinda nice to have the answear to something when you need it to figure up something. Even if it's just for silly stuff that dosen't matter at all), I get to have lots of fun being with friends and doing stupid stuff and turning some lessons to my own circus shows~, when im too tired to learn I can either skip or sleep during the lesson (>.> I might get yelled at or whatever, but really, what's the worst they can do?), and attened school activetys like clubs and school trips (I don't think I would do those if it weren't for school). I really don't think my life right now as a student are bad nor wasted. I do what I want to, and I can tolerate all the little hardships, so I really don't think I need more. |

I am totally motivated for school. Last fucking year, I better make it the best one. All this irrelevant shit that their fueling into us somewhat interests me - plus, I do choose the subjects that I enjoy (except maths). But school for me is mostly social. The whole cohort is nice except a few freak who are totally ridiculed by everyone. But even they find their own little group of friends, so it's sweet. Most of my teachers are good; and even the bad ones have good points. They show me the ramifications of not studying in school and working hard. I do not want to end up like them - so I guess I'll have to put in effort if I don't want to end up like that. However, I dislike the amount of effort I have to put into those things that I dislike - like maths. I really don't give a shit about how to factorise cubics; and that is the part of school that is flawed. Even worse is that some people are good at this sort of rubbish and we are pitted against them. So I have to work extra hard to beat them down. oh oh, and one aspect of school that I dislike is that teachers for a particular subject think that the subject they are teaching you is the only freaking subject you're learning. So they absolutely pile homework on top of you. You complain to them, but they just reply with "What? I only gave you 10 questions! That'll only take you about an hour." Little do they realise that, with my 5 subjects each giving me 1 hr worth of hw, I'm doing fracking 5 hours of homework >:U BLARGH I just want to get it out of the way. The social aspect is cool; and mates provide the motivation to work via competition. Success is judged by how well you do, and unfortunately, I can't be bothered uprising against their method of teaching. This is my last year after all. lol random spewing. sigh. |

aside from the skills and education points, there is this group of people I like being around, in particular this one cute girl who says "hi, Alucard" everytime she sees me (that's my nickname for being able to impersonate Crispin Freeman, and having a vampiric mindset). Nothing romantic about it, she's just a really cool person, and reminds me of your classic Tsundere sometimes. me, I'm no good with love anyway (and probably never will be; my goal is to die alone) anyway, there's some alternate motivation right there. |

I wouldn't not go to school, I just wouldn't take some obligatory classes or assignments. For example, I wouldn't take French, and I might just never do English papers. |
